It's technically not even the successor. It's the same code base, same database, and about half of the same users. Only the domain name is different. They got the 8ch.net domain back as well, so they'll probably revert to that eventually, but they're using it for crypto currently.

this is how the internet used to be man circa 2003 or 2004. if this stays, you’ll settle in. It’s a totally different experience but it’s a better one. conversations here are already more quality than pol has been in a long time. Like the other day I found a thread with people debating the chemistry of producing life from inorganic matter and after reading through it all, I realized it was the first semi-coherent longform discussion I’d read all day on the board. I agree it was fun and fast, but there was also a lot of shit. and half of the board likely wasn’t human.
