I understand. Elon wants to make money, and it is much more expensive to do things in the US, because chinese labor is damn cheap, so he does as much as he can there, and he does it there first. But then the chinese enjoy better cars than us…

I hope he gets an exemption on tariffs, otherwise we might not be able to buy Teslas when Trump gets in power.

If America wants to compete with China we have to reform our own country first. America has too much red tape regulation that keep innovation and entrepreneurship shackled and chained, unable to become successful. We focus on global domination and endless wars instead of solving our own problems here at home, our government creates trillions of dollars of insolvent debt to fund all these wars and yet blames everyone else when the economy goes to shit. The same corrupt government that practically incentivized our domestic industry to move offshore because of bad bureaucratic policies. Mismanagement, corruption and waste is systemic today. NO ONE can successfully run a country like that. It must be reformed, people must learn to accept that fact. China is not an enemy. Neither are any of the BRICS nations. They thrive and prosper while we fail and flounder because our own government failed us.

China has more capitalism in it's pinky than the entire West has today. That's because Western governments abandoned the free market, the notion of fair competition and the fruits of industrial growth and strength.

The US needs to drastically reduce government bureaucracy (most of which has been corrupted), start enforcing anti-trust laws to break up monopolies, restore consumer choice, reduce taxes and offer incentives for people to start their own businesses, innovate and compete in the market place. Only then will we be able to compete with China.
