The explosion will mean the exit of the 4th horse from the Revelation of John the Theologian (chapter 6, verse 8):
"And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth."

I admit I fail to see how the Caldera fits to that passage. As it stands right now, we appear to moreso be on Revelations 9 with the releasing of the "locusts" as the sealing of the foreheads is taking place right now. Though that isn't to say I'm not potentially misinterpreting events myself.
