The Elvis movie was actually fantastic! And Trust me, I'm the most critical of them all when it comes to Elvis…
But I simply had to accept the fact that SOMEONE had to be cast for the wrong, and there's only one person who ever looked like Elvis Presley.. and his name was Elvis Presley…
Nevertheless, the movie was absolutely fantastic

( and they got the details of the event correct in the Elvis movie )
Colonel Tom was pressuring him to sing a Christmas song at the end of the stupid Singer sewing machine sponsored television special, and Elvis was furious at the colonel for stifling his creative spirit…
So they had the song written at the spur of a moment after Martin Luther King was assassinated, a statement about the human condition and why we can't just get along
And the night before they filmed the final song, Elvis stayed late at the NBC sounds stage studios, and after everybody else went home,ELVIS LAID DOWN ON THE FLOOR
AND SANG IT ONE TIME
And the next day, they taped Elvis live standing on the soundstage, singing live without special effects, over the pre-recorded music
And it's still probably THE single most dynamic performance ever in the history of the human race

the Las Vegas white jumpsuit concept was simply a product of the times, the worst time in history for fashion, other than the quickly faded "clothes made out of goat feces" trend of 1609…
But one day I realized the perfect outfit for Elvis would have been white rhinestone astronaut space suits…
