I don't think America will cease to exist completely, only our superpower status will be diminished to third world status, as there will be small, well armed local communities and pockets of resistance. Self-sufficient people, the doomsday preppers, as well disciplined militia groups will still exist around the nation. So will groups like Mormons and Amish families who ride out the collapse as they don't rely on conventional institutions or governments.
