>Anyone who has ever asked himself the questions "Why Christianity? And how did they do it?" will find some specific answers here: in a nutshell, that the late Roman emperors imposed Christianity as the state religion in a desperate attempt to hold the empire together, and changed a few things in the process to suit their purposes. That the result was a theological cameleopard is part of the background of the rise of Islam and the eventual fall of the Eastern Empire, divided by Niceanism vs Arianism and Monophysitism, etc.

>Hans Fallada - A Stranger in My Own Country: The 1944 Prison Diary
less disingenuous diarist than Haffner >>1454 >>1838
>leading and ‘respected’ Nazi newspapers and journals described me as ‘the poster-boy goy for all the Jews on the Kurfürstendamm’, they called me ‘the notorious pornographer’, and right up until the end disputed my right to live and write in Germany.
still, the german cathedral is embarassed about him because of such passages:
>And I’ll say it here and not mince my words: it wasn’t the Germans who did the most to pave the way for National Socialism, it was the French and the British. Since 1918 there have been many governments who were more than willing to cooperate – but they were never given a chance. It was repeatedly forgotten that they were not only the executors of measures forcibly imposed by foreign countries, but also the representatives of an impoverished and starving people, whom they loved! It is those others who have thrust us into the abyss, into the hell in which we are now living!
>And then came the time when the new regime seized power, and everything changed. Now Paulchen and Leopold Ullstein were always in a huddle, they always had something to discuss, and whenever somebody else came into the room they stopped talking. They were the Jews, and we were the gentiles, they belonged together, and we were the outsiders. During those weeks I came to understand that in the hour of danger a Jew feels closer to another Jew, however much they disagree and differ, than to his truest friend of non-Jewish blood. I realized that the Jews themselves are the ones who have erected this barrier between themselves and other nations, which we refused to believe when the Nazis claimed as much; and that it is the Jews themselves who feel the difference in blood, and insist on it, when we had always smiled at the notion. This realization did not make me an anti-Semite. But I did come to see the Jews in a different light. I’m sorry, but that’s just how it is. I really hate to say it: but I can’t alter the fact.
>…what I discovered was that the Jews have a different attitude to money than I do, and it was an attitude that I didn’t care for personally, in fact one that I found quite repugnant. One of them came back for the sake of money, the other one wouldn’t leave for the sake of money: but both of them allowed themselves to be humiliated for the sake of money, consciously and by their own choice.

>Collingwood held that history could not be studied in the same way as natural science because the internal thought processes of historical persons could not be perceived with the physical senses, and past historical events could not be directly observed. He suggested that a historian must "reconstruct" history by using "historical imagination" to "re-enact" the thought processes of historical persons based on information and evidence from historical sources.
Collingwood pointed out a fundamental difference between knowing things in the present (or in the natural sciences) and knowing history. To come to know things in the present or about things in the natural sciences, “real” things can be observed, as they are in existence or that have substance right now.
The problem with coming to know things about history is that while past human actions actually or really happened, they took place in the past. The actions, then, have no real existence or substance at the point in time that the historian is studying them. Based on the understanding that the events and actions that historians study have already happened, they are finished and so cannot actually be observed. Collingwood maintained that historians must use their imaginations to reconstruct and understand the past. Because human events that have already taken place cannot be observed, he argued that they must be imagined.
Is it just me, or have the wikipedos written this in a really weird way?

>Boris Bazhanov and the damnation of Stalin
>He is a prime source on Stalin from 1923 to 1928.
>There followed a period of suspicion that he had been a Nazi sympathizer, based in part on the fact that Hitler let him go back to Paris a free man, despite his refusal to be the German-controlled gauleiter of German-colonized Russia. This and the wartime alliance of the Western democracies with Stalin against Germany helped induce Bazhanov to be silent for thirty years.
>None of his books were translated into English for publication, although some of his articles were summarized by U.S. and British embassy officers for Washington and London. Bazhanov was not again published in book form until 1977.
>It was only after Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn had urged him, in 1976, to write his memoirs, that Bazhanov (now aged seventy-six) again wrote a book. This time he revised, updated, and substantially changed his 1930 book about Stalin. By now Bazhanov's friends inside the USSR had died or no longer needed him to be discreet on their account. The 1976 manuscript, therefore, goes far beyond his 1930 work in such details as what Lenin's secretaries told Bazhanov about Lenin's "testament" and "codicil."
>The 1979 French version, presented here in translation, (in the hope that it will illuminate from a unique perspective, a corner of Kremlin history that has not been generally available in English) is about four times longer than his 40,000 word book of 1930. It contains all the essentials of the 1930 book and adds materially to that earlier manuscript. The 1979 version includes his interesting experiences in Finland in 1940 and in Germany in June 1941. The update of the 1930 book differs mostly in that it offers much more detail than he was then prepared to give on Stalin and the dictator's entourage and methods, naming more names and giving explanations that, in 1930, might have caused his friends inside the USSR to be harmed.

> David W. Anthony - The horse, the wheel, and language : how bronze-age riders from the Eurasian steppes shaped the modern world (2007)
>Linking prehistoric archaeological remains with the development of language, David Anthony identifies the prehistoric peoples of central Eurasia's steppe grasslands as the original speakers of Proto-Indo-European, and shows how their innovative use of the ox wagon, horseback riding, and the warrior's chariot turned the Eurasian steppes into a thriving transcontinental corridor of communication, commerce, and cultural exchange. He explains how they spread their traditions and gave rise to important advances in copper mining, warfare, and patron-client political institutions, thereby ushering in an era of vibrant social change. Anthony also describes his fascinating discovery of how the wear from bits on ancient horse teeth reveals the origins of horseback riding.
>The Horse, the Wheel, and Language solves a puzzle that has vexed scholars for two centuries–the source of the Indo-European languages and English–and recovers a magnificent and influential civilization from the past.

>René Grousset - The Empire of the Steppes. A History of Central Asia (1939, translated 1970)
>The early history of the steppe nomads is shrouded in obscurity, an obscurity which lifts somewhat only after their contact with cultures possessing written histories. But even when information about them becomes relatively more plentiful, linguistic complexities make its interpretation extremely difficult. Thus, while the number of specialized monographs and technical studies devoted to them is impressive, general works embracing the many disciplines involved, or syntheses on a grand scale encompassing the sprawling history of these peoples, are exceedingly scarce. Atmong these very few, René Grousset's monumental L'Empire des Steppes is uniquely great.
>Grousset's classic work was first published in 1939, and has since appeared in a number of reimpressions, with no significant revisions.

>Thyssen's book I Paid Hitler,
published in 1941, was purported to be written by Fritz Thyssen himself, although Thyssen denies author ship. The book claims that funds for Hitler — about one million marks — came mainly from Thyssen himself. I Paid Hitler has other unsupported assertions, for example that Hitler was actually descended from an illegitimate child of the Rothschild family. Supposedly Hitler's grandmother, Frau Schickelgruber, had been a servant in the Rothschild household and while there became pregnant:
>[some quote]
>This assertion concerning Hitler's illegitimacy is refuted entirely in a more solidly based book by Eugene Davidson, which implicates the Frankenberger family, not the Rothschild
family.
This is why you at least inspect shit before claiming that it has been debunked. The Rothschields are only mentioned in that very part and nowhere else. Looks like some burger oligiarchs wanted to gas the kikes to become the kikes instead of the kikes.
