Albums are the worst thing to ever happen to music.

Prove me wrong.

You literally can't. I won't even spoiler that, you just simply can't.

Yes yes we get more bang for your buck but albums are mostly mixed bags especially when listening to artists who try changing styles which most artists nowadays do. You pick out the songs you like and the rest are mostly underwhelming or even purely bad. Due to these being grouped together though like a buffet where food is spilled onto each other retards have the gall to judge it as a group. To properly listen to music you must only listen to one track at a time and judge it as only that. Albums are pointless labels that should be ignored to the point of not having to exist if not for the sake of artists wanting to release multiple tracks at once.

absolutely epic

 No.96448

Sounds like you're listening to shit artists mostly.

One hit wonders could I add.

But I'll agree that the EP is much less likely to be filled with filler material.

Pleb opinion try not listening to shit albums

Name one album that has not one, not one, shit song.

I'll wait.

You're probably trolling but I'm inclined to agree. With bands I'm a fan of or bands I at least listen to regularly, I tend to make my own best of compilations where I go through their discography and just kick out skip tracks, fillers, skits and similar garbage. One of the best life hacks I've ever applied tbh. Whenever I feel like listening to a certain band, I just play my compilation and only get fed their finest works.

>>96452

I can proudly say that I currently carry a cracking Japan and a very good Depeche Mode compilation on my USB/phone.

>Violator (1990)

Fine. You got me.

But admittedly speaking there's no way you've never enjoyed an album that's had a few shit songs.

 No.96461

Except some musicians try making songs in an album thematically similar, and/or ordered in some kind of coherent way. You're also implying that other songs in an albums somehow take something away from individual songs. I don't see anything wrong with judging albums as a whole since some are just better than others. Really I don't get why you're complaining.

 No.96479

I actually agree with you to an extent. Even my favorite albums have songs that I don't really enjoy. Most musicians would be better off sticking to creating EP-length releases (or possibly just singles).

 No.96480

The Clash come to mind for a band that had so much filler on their albums.

 No.96484

>>96455

Same. I mostly ignore official "Best of" compilations since they usually just slap on what made the charts, regardless of its sonic credence. Just grab their finest 70 - 90 minutes from their whole discography, arrange them thematically and you're good as gold.

>>96461

Those are usually concept albums and need to be associated/intertwined with one another. General albums are simply a marketing tool. If artists really wanted to be heard they'd release a single every couple of months or so at the very least, not keep us waiting a couple of years for 15, of which only 5 will be remembered.

If the album really had an effect on you, you start to grow around these songs as you get older and love them too. You just sort of merge into it when it's been part of you're life for so long

You've got a long time to spend with an album

Just like this ear piss

The more constructed of the idea or story being portrayed through a whole album gives it more impact and fuller picture

 No.96533

An album is just a marketable format made in order to sell a selection of songs an artist has recorded over a certain time span. It's ok to take out the trash.
