World Music is a just a marketing term that a bunch of jewish music executives came up. The only purpose is to sell crap to lefties who believe in a united world without borders. It's pretty much the top of cultural relativism and cultural appropriation.
If you talk about traditional Colombian music then fine. If you talk about traditional south american music then fine. But throw in Irish folk music and say it's all "world music" then you are acting as the definition of a cultural relativist. And if you've been raised in the west and decide to play traditional Inuit music (because it's so different!) then you are doing the definition of cultural appropriation.
World music is really just a relic from the nineties. With the current state of the left they should consider it racist to play world music nowadays because of the cultural appropriation part. Just goes to show that what is considered progressive today will be considered backwards in 20 years. "Progressive" politics is really all about being fashionable, that's all there's to it. A 25 year old progressive considers a 50 year old progressive to be racist already. We'd live in the world of Logan's Run if progressive lefties had complete power.
