I use a second generation FiiO X5, since it allows you to use two microSD cards to store music. It does have an annoying issue where scrolling through your library won't start scrolling by the letter like the iPod Classic did. You could buy a 30GB 5th gen Classic off of eBay and replace the HDD with a SD card reader and install Rockbox.

I want something like the original Rockchip, but that can play FLAC. All can play wav format, it is impossible for it not to play raw audio, but I'd rather have flac due to the metadata.

I assume that the only thing that's dying is the battery, and it's difficult to get a replacement. If they were easily replaceable, someone would probably be still manufacturing replacement batteries, but with all the hassle involved (opening the player without breaking it in the process, resoldering the battery etc.) nobody deems it to be worth it.
