Not much news out about this yet, not even a Russian statement apparently. Something happened between Russian and Ukrainian ships, and both fired at each other. Apparently, the pass to the Azov sea was blocked. There is practically nothing to go on yet other than a very short BBC News article and some random blog. Russia also sent out 2 SU-25s.
>The Ukrainian navy says Russia has opened fire and seized three of its vessels off the coast of the annexed Crimea, in an escalation of tensions near annexed Crimea.
>Two gunboats were captured and a tug was forced to stop, a statement said. Two crew members were injured.
>Russia is yet to comment on the claims.
>It earlier accused Ukraine of illegally entering Russian waters, blocking access to the Sea of Azov with a tanker.

Point as follows: "defensive" implies "reactionary", as in "reacting to a threat." Forming an alliance such as NATO is an implicitly offensive move towards the USSR, especially when the USSR had no offensive contingency. Put another way, it's difficult to call NATO "defensive" when its formation was the first shot in the Cold War.

Pic related is what the lugenpresse is using for the story. Western media is typically anti-Russian in the Ukraine/Russia conflict, as far as I have seen.
From that angle it certainly appears consistent with "tanker blocking the strait". Was it positioned that way intentionally by the Ukrainians? Was this an accident? Was the photo taken after the Russians did whatever was alleged? I am guessing the media suppressed their natural urge to go full judenpresse and therefore this is NOT a stock photo from a different location that was taken years ago, or other tricks I would normally expect from the judenpresse.

Most of what is published is bullshit though.
1) The Ukrainian navy ships weren't attacked by the Russian Navy.
2) The Russian COAST GUARDS captured 3 Ukrainian navy ship, 2 gunboats and a raid tug (which is exactly as ridiculous as it sound) after 5 HOURS of the Ukrainians pissing about in and out of Russian waters and warnings the Russian managed to trap them in Russian waters with the help of a civilian freighter.
3)The Ukrainians tried to escape when the Russian coast guard told them to prepared to be boarded and one of the gun boat RAMMED a Russian coast guard ship (pic related), at which point it was strafed by machine gun (not 30mm, probably a PK).
4) Seeing that they were going to get killed, the gun boats surrendered, the tug still tried to escaped and was rammed by another Russian coast guard ship.
Again this is 100% Ukrainian believing they're the most clever beings on the planet and they can do what they want and they will getting away with it.

Yes, yes go coordinate yourself with your buddies, you're clearly out not up to date on which narrative you're suppose to be pushing today.
Reminder that the Ukrainian version at this moment (before I'm sure you're gonna change it) is that the Russian NAVY opened fire on their ships, wounded many of their sailors and crippled the ships.
So here have a video showing the perfectly working and intact Ukrainian ships (so they didn't even strafed them, they probably just warned them and the "wounded" are bruised during the collision THAT DIDN'T HAPPENED).
And remember it's Russia that is EVIL.

I think the point he was trying to make with the lengths was establishing a scale. If you know how large they are relative to each other, you can compare the height of the Ukranian's bow to the height of the hole in the Russian ship.
And I can see his point; the hole does seem higher than anything that is likely to have made it on that Ukrainian ship. The hole is roughly level with the Russian ship's bow, which is clearly higher than the Ukrainian's bow. Based just on the images here, a Russian-Russian collision seems like a better explanation.

"Ukrain has about the same sovreingty as a three year old child."
https://www.deutschlandfunk.de/linken-politiker-zum-krim-konflikt-die-ukraine-selber-hat.694.de.html?dram:article_id=434240
The German politician "Alexander Neu" ("Die Linke", "the Left" party) stated in an interview with the Deutschlandfunk that Ukraine has roughly the same sovereignty as a three year old child.
Translation of some parts of the interview follows. Redtext is politician, green text the journalist.
>Mr. Neu, is this just an incident, or the beginning of new military tensions? How do you rate what happened?
<No, this is not an incident that happened quickly, there were signs for months that this would happen. Especially with the background that during spring the Ukrainian side seized a Russian fishtrawler and a tanker, for a long time, I don't even know if they have been released yet. After that the Russians intensified the border inspections. This escalated over the summer and cumulated in what happened last night.
>Are international laws superfluous to you?
<The international laws were made mostly superfluous by the western Balkan politics. For me it is not superfluous. "The Left" stands by international law based on the UN-charta of 1945.
>What does the Russian leadership accomplish with this?
<That's a good question. The Russian leadership naturally wants to make it clear, that with the takeover of Crimea you also have to give Russia sovereignty over the area, and that in their eyes the Ukraine penetrated Russian sovereign space using those ships.
>Again: do you share that sentiment?
<That's not important, if I share that sentiment. It's first and foremost about the description of the situation, what happened there.
>Why are you holding back so much?
<I am holding back so much, because I still have a aching stomach from how the western politics, looking at Jugoslavia and Sudan, broke international humanitarian law in a massive way and created precedents. We condemn all of this, just like all of the rest.
>Russia is using force in Ukraine.
<Ukrain uses force. Ukrainian troops are being trained by US forces and there are training exercises with Americans.
>Should they not exercise?
<No.
>So that Ukraine is weaker?
<No! The Ukraine is a multinational state [wut?] and the Ukraine should have been treated as a bridge country between Russia and the West. But they didn't; they tried with all of their might to pull the Ukraine into the western team and as a result we can see the conflicts of today.
>The Ukraine is a sovereign state, just as a remainder.
<The Sovereignty of the Ukraie is roughly equivalent to that of a three year old child, dependent on it's mother. Believe me. Ukraine doesn't have much to say.
>That was of course very disrespectful towards Ukrainians.
<That may be. But it's true.
The levels of international salt this is causing is amusing me.

Even if for the sole fact that Third Reich occupation wasn't recognized as a legitimate government of Poland and unfortunately not a single evil nazi or his family is in a position of power in III Polish Republic which is recognized as a successor state to >Polish >People's >Republic because nobody bothered to go to international courts over it
If PPR wasn't recognized as an entry in Polish history we could've just executed every single government official from that point as an occupying force and not fund their pensions now.

True, but even in that state, they have at least the illusion of a position of power, because they could sell the nukes back to Russia, or even the West if they were feeling cheeky. But the nukes are just a specific example of a general point I was making–Ukraine was/is trying to play big-boy politics with the world powers, but it doesn't have big-boy toys like nukes, a robust economy, or a big military to back it up. Ukrainians have no one to blame except for themselves for throwing a tantrum on the world stage with nothing to back it up.

France and Russia have been at war like three time in all of European history.
One was an alliance thing that never saw actual fighting between french and Russian armies, the other was the retardation under Napoleon that cost us the Europe and the last one was you pushing us to go save the Turks (what a great fucking idea).
Two fights in a thousand years of basically a war every two years makes Russia our BFF.
Russia is and has always been France natural ally just as the south and central slavs or Irish/Scottish were, because France enemies are and ALWAYS WILL BE to anyone with a bit of self respect Germany and England.
Hell even if you take the last century (which is the worst record), with the commies and all France spent as much time allied or neutral with Russia than antagonistic (35 years of cold war VS 32 as proper allies… Yes France was allied with the USSR from 1941 to… 1956 and it's the soviets that denounced it not us…).
There is a reason why Putin could order french made capital ships…
Most french (we're talking 70 to 80% here) were appealed by the decision to NOT give capital ships to Russia, especially people on the right.

I am afraid that this thread is already dead, but this appears to be fitting and I don't want to make a new thread unless neccessary.
Apparently the Russians are storing 250 tanks a couple kilometers away from the Ukrainian border just south of "Kamensk-Shakhtinsky", a town in Russia that is just 100 kilometers away from Luhansk via the Russian A260 highway and the Ukrainian M04 highway.
It's at 48°16'13N and 40°15'42E, you can see them on the latest pictures of google earth.
I counted 50 tanks in a one row. There are 5 rows of tanks in the south east of the compound This makes 250 tanks of unidentified type. Also many more trucks and other vehicles. Some of them emergency-red or UN white. Most are black or green (or covered in tarpaulin of that colour. Hard to tell with some of them.).
It looks like there are also a lot of containers stored between the buildings.
Something is cooking in the east.

>hundreds of main battle tank like as T-64 and also T-62M.
Lel that's a nice sauce.
There are no working T-64 in Russia (for a decade. They haven't been in service for 25 years), there were a few dozens T-62M in service until 2010 in low readiness units but they're gone too.
It's a 250 mix of tanks, IFVs and SPAAGs.
Also that place isn't new by any stretch of the imagination, it has long been there and is a clearly a maneuvering ground of some kind (pic was taken in 2012 and you can clearly see the track marks on the ground in old type of high contrast photos all over the field south of the base).
Also 250 tanks sounds like a lot because our armies are in tatters but Rostov District is the headquarter of the Russian Southern Military District, Rostov itself, arguably the most strategic city in the south of Russia is 60km from the border and home to an Army-size formation (so between 217 and 311 tanks depending sources, around 400 IFVs, 200 to 250 SPAAGs, and loads of trucks and APCs).
And there are two others armies in the district.
I'd be Ukraine I would be worrying about how to fix my shit instead of what Russia is doing. Because for the past 4 years all the rebellion that has already raped them bloody has been doing is hitting the gym.
And if you think the arabs rebels have funny homemade shit personally I can't wait to see what happens when it's one of the most industrialized place on the planet can cook up:

Russia has the right to inspect any ship passing to or through Azov. Ukrop ships ignored hails, therefore violating this, plus it seemed to intend to attack the bridge, at which point all such legal concerns go out the window as anyone has the right of self defense.

Basically when russia took ukraine, ukraine cut all utilities to the peninsula, including damming rivers so they can't have fresh water. This is not only unecessarily cruel, its also actually a bad political move because it is considered as admitting that the government of ukraine no longer WISHES to control it. To compensate, russia built a bridge to it, which also cuts off the entire Azov sea from ukrainian control!
with one dumb cruel move they managed to lose a peninsula AND a sea!
Compare their behavior to break-away regions in countries like China/Tibet an Serbia/Kosovo, they still have utilities going into the regions, so even though there's issues with the locals, decades later the governments of these countries still have a foot in the door. But by cutting utilities, ukraine cut all ties with the region, dumbasses.
Realizing their stupidity, ukraine is trying to block the building of the bridge by sending in oil tankers, gunships, speedboats etc. All of these get captured so basically they are compounding their stupidity by looking aggressive AND giving the enemy seaworthy vessels.
bb4458 No.636801

This is how poisonously evil, cruel and stupid the average ukrainian is. They are willing to endanger their own citizens, lose an entire sea and look aggressive and stupid to nearby nations like Moldova and Belarussia - all in exchange for the HOPE that some foreign power will declare sanctions for Russia so their access to iphones is less. The funny part is that they think this has some effect. 1990 they lost half their economy. creation of european union blocked trade to west. 2008 recession wrecked russian economy, and the Arabs selling oil reserves wrecked oil prices which destroyed russian eocnomy even more. Then there were sanctions from 2014 on…. it's now 2019, does Russia LOOK like it's going to bow down and retreat?? theyre funding foreign wars which afre successfull…
