Hey Jim how did you end up where you live farming, like as a white guy your age how did you become a farmer in the Asian islands? Tell me your story Jim

That is a long story. I suppose it will come out over time. My farm is a hobby that has turned into a real passion. Straddling a ridge, on top are hogs, a barn and quarters for the workers. I am worried about erosion, and making useful space for things through the use of terraces.

You are living the life, Jim! I have contemplated settling outside of the United States before. I am not sure if I ever will, though, but I sure want to travel!

Did you build the barn and the quarters yourself? And, I have always loved the idea about like terrace farming and stuff. It has always seemed so efficient. Of course, I have no idea about the actual logistics of it. BTW, I am not this anon >>262 Though, I am an avid reader of yours, since a few days ago.

My land has a 65° slope. I am hoping to have something similar to the terraces here when I finish. At the top I will build a reinforced two level barn for housing mama piggies and their piglets. Then below a series of terraces similar to these. Their is a large slow moving river at the base. If I put a decent stairway in then a dock on the river for canoes it will be a lot of fun.

So find yourself a nice local girl. Big hips for making plenty of babies. Sell your property in the states. Then buy a nice portion of a Ridgeline for the price of a new Cadillac and start a farm.

Wow, that sounds like it will be a big undertaking, but GREAT once you finish it! I love canoeing.

Sounds good. Not sure if I would want to do that soon, though. Maybe in my 40s or 50s, after I have saved up a bit of money.
