Is ProtonVPN worthy ?

It is a relatively new VPN, launched by the team who made the ProtonMail website.

https://protonvpn.com/secure-vpn

https://protonvpn.com/pricing

Their free version is quite attractive but I would know if people have an experience with them ?

Can you trust them with their "no log" policy ? I just want to browse the vanilla internet privately, nothing shady.

Why not spend $3 a month and run your own VPN hosted on a VPS of your choice?

Check out https://github.com/trailofbits/algo you can have it up and running in like ~10 minutes.

I highly recommend this OpenConnect VPN tutorial. It's easy to follow, and it bypasses most shitty public Wi-Fi firewalls (you'll need a few dollars for a VPS, though):

https://www.linuxbabe.com/ubuntu/openconnect-vpn-server-ocserv-ubuntu-16-04-17-10-lets-encrypt

Alternatively, you can check out Riseup's free VPN service. As with any VPN service that claims to have no logs (NordVPN, Mullvad, you name it), you always have to assume that you're being watched.

We'd better not believe them and think that all VPN companies have logs.

Using Tor for *regular* internet browsing is the digital equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot, considering how exit nodes are often actively monitored and can tamper with *decrypted* traffic.

Perfect-Privacy is top but only on a Windows machine. Their client on Linux is only like a GUI for openVPN. DNS-Leak by default, no Killswitch.

Mullvad is fine on Linux. Simple client, DNS-Leak protection is build in, killswitch also.

No it isn't. Only very few nodes are malicious and if you use https it can't do anything.

If the VPN provider doesn't operate Ramdisk, he ain't worth looking at.

Reliable are only:

perfect-privacy.com - operated by right wing extremists who decline cooperation with the feds since years.

&

1vpns.com - operated by a group of tech savy soviets that are known to the cybercriminal world (in russia at least) since 1997, also ignoring any requests by any gov agency.

I do not trust them with their "no log" policy. In such case i advise you to change vpn service. Try to use more stable like VeePN. In fact, it all depends on the quality of the product. There are many vpns which are much more convenient and safer under the protocol.

Hallo, good afternoon..

I'm curious to know what VPN's would be good for a linux OS. I'm thinking of buying because the free ones are honeypotish( at least i feel this way) and i don't trust them. I'm running latetest linux mint right now. honestly I just started using linux and I really enjoy it. I totally ditched windows and I haven't regretted the decision.

But I would like to further push my security and test out a vpn. PLus I got banned on some forums( verbal abuse) and I would like to return to them via vpn. Any insight would be appreciated. please no bully.

There is actually a really cool tool called protonvpn comand line i used to connect when was evaluating the free protonvpn the other day.
