Me! I find FreeBSD better than most of the Linux distros.

FreeBSD is better than OpenBSD and NetBSD. But Linux is better than FreeBSD.

FreeBSD is gay af.
OpenBSD and NetBSD are uncucked.
Linux has better package management/newer releases.

>FreeBSD is gay
What is GhostBSD, DragonflyBSD, MidnightBSD or the other FreeBSD based systems that do no have a CoC
>Trannux has better package management
Fake and gay. In fact portage is based on BSD ports.
>Newer releases
>Newer = better

Looks promising and the security aspects and ability to run Linux programs make it even better.
>inb4 but muh Gentoo and muh build everything
Yeah, I want to build everything to run some simple programs on my general desktop.

BSD is not bad but Linux is better. I could install any BSDs on my laptop because it's new and BSD doesn't support new hardwares because of lack of drivers.

OpenBSD only builds packages once a release (6 months) unless you run -current. This is the main dealbreaker for me.

I tried using openBSD but its an unusable meme. Firefox crashes every few minutes due to W^X being half worked out. No modern file system support exists, so transferring files is a pain in the ass. There is no MAC system. Little Prepackaged software, and the whole "no holes in the default install" thing goes out the window the second you install a package or change a configuration.
Its a cool project though, and I hear the code quality is high. They are also the origin of many standard tools like openssh.

Why would I use BSD? I use debian as a daily driver, having started with Ubuntu. I'll try BSD but from what I've read it seems to be aimed at being a secure server OS, not necessarily a desktop OS.

FreeBSD's source code is used by Apple to make macOS and iOS since its BSD license. BSD license is convenient for corporations.
But you're not a corporation, so Linux is better as BSD's drivers are fucking shit! They don't support new hardwares.

That's the downside of BSD. People can run off with your code and do whatever the hell they want. You can say GPL is like communism but it's fair you have to give back what you take.
