I pulled a muscle in my lower back that went down my glute and into my upper left. I’ve stayed off and iced it for 4 days and it feels a lot better, but I can tell it isn’t healed.

This happened several years ago when I only ran. A big snow storm and shoveling was the last straw.

Doctor thinks it was due just something that happened over time and wasn’t one thing. But it wouldn’t heal for a long time. I would wait until I thought it was better, and try running, and it would be back. I eventually went to therapy and they did dry needling.

Now, I lift weights 5 days a week and run 2. I don’t lift very much. Heaviest is a loaded carry with two 55 dumbbells. I felt it pop when I set a 55 pound dumbbell down leaning forward. Dumb on my part. I’m thinking of lifting fewer days. I’m 5’11 and 160 so I don’t want to get skinnier.

Any advice on how long to wait until I lift and run again?

I think you made a big deal about literally fucking nothing since the very beginning. You're pathological.

Pops happen all the fucking time. It usually means your tendons and fascia are getting stronger. Just keep working out. Tendons and ligaments can be sore, get over it.

Test it a lot, do slight bends and twists and leans and motions that would agitate it in order to condition the tissues. Get angry, get riled up, get aggressive, get your test/androgens up and keep them up.

Like you I had what was initially a minor muscle strain which got worse and it's now chronic pain in my shoulder because I refused to stay off it/go light. Go see a doctor and follow what they say and go see a different PT that doesn't use non-solutions like acupuncture.

They'll probably tell you stay off it for an extended period coupled w/various exercises since it's a previous injury that hasn't healed, and then to ease back into it over a couple weeks. And yes all that shit is going to suck.

Felt it pop where and what did it feel like?

It didn’t hurt too bad. Almost felt like a slap.

The pain itself wasn’t too bad the rest of the day, but the muscle was really tight.

Could be a pulled muscle, could be something else.

Go see a doctor
