Don’t have a gallbladder. Used to be bretty ripped, but surgery fucked that up (year+ recovery). Taking bile salts but after injury had critically low iodine and stopped taking bile, T dropped ~400, trying to get back on the horse. I know fat processing is key for hormone synthesis. Anyone been through something similar? Any dietary recommendations to get back into good T production? Currently > 30 and determined to make it.

Lost mine and did some reading… Mostly found recommendations to consume foods known to improve digestive effectiveness(fermented foods, ginger, bitter foods, etc..) and to eat low fat and more often in small amounts. No joke, like aiming for 250 calories and not more than 3 grams fat every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Also, not drinking within a half hour of meals since it reduces digestive effectiveness- but drinking between every meal to be sure you're getting the proper amount of water daily. I've found this hard to keep up with schedule wise, but I try to keep it in mind. Lots of vegetables, fruits, and lean meats basically… Everything else in moderation/sparingly. As for hormonal balances I suppose keep track of your health and try to be aware of symptoms of deficiency so you can supplement or adjust diet to correct it? I had no idea I had gallbladder problems until it was too late to do anything about it, it does suck not having one. Good luck!

Also, some notes I took to be more specific. Take them with a grain of salt- I have not taken any supplements so can't comment on them.

-Ginger- improve bile and stomach acid production

-Artichokes- improve bile production

-Apple Cider Vinegar- may help thin bile for effecient flow from liver?

-Sour Citrus(lemons/limes)- cleanse liver, and thin bile for improved digestion and nutrient absorption

-Fermented vegetables and drinks such as a low-carb coconut water kefir are excellent for improving digestive juice production

-Fibrous Vegetables like Celery and Cucumber- low carb, sodium, vitamins b and c

-Celery as well as asparagus are good foods for detoxifying the liver and improving bile flow

-radishes support the metabolism of fats via increased bile production

-Without plenty of water available to the liver, bile production decreases and the body creates a thick, sluggish bile flow. Aim to drink 32 ounces of purified water within the first hour of waking up and between 32 and 48 ounces of water by noon

-Support stomach acid levels by avoiding water intake within a 30 minute window before and after meals and relaxing to enjoy your meal.

-Higher levels of stress block the secretion of stomach acid, so it is very important to relax the body before meals

-Supplementing your diet with digestive enzymes and ox bile can significantly support fat metabolism without a gallbladder

-You may also consider a hydrochloric acid supplement in the form of betaine HCL tablets taken during or immediately following a meal

-Digestive enzymes contain natural bile salts, betaine HCL, herbs and a complex of enzymes that support the function of other digestive organs like the pancreas. Finding a good quality digestive enzyme is an effective way to produce adequate stomach acid, inhibit inflammation of the intestines and aid in fat metabolism and the assimilation of fat soluble vitamins

-Ox bile supports the body in breaking down fats without the presence of bile. Some digestive enzymes contain ox bile but it is recommended to be supplemented separately. Ox bile serves similar purposes in sanitizing or killing off microbes and helping to assimilate fats for absorption. Ox bile can help relieve your symptoms of indigestion and feelings of an upset stomach that you may otherwise experience consuming a high fat diet without healthy bile concentrations. If you want extra bile support, I recommend using BioGest with your meals.

-We find long-chain fatty acids in avocados, nuts and seeds, olives and olive oil and meats. We find small and medium chain fatty acids in grass-fed butter and coconut fats

-consume 3 or 4 small meals throughout the day. Substitute liquid nutrition that is easy on the digestive tract with shakes and smoothies to support liver function

-general rule of thumb, about 200-300 calories every 2.5 to 3 hours, a gallon of water a day not within a half hour of meals, minimum 8 hours sleep

Ps- regarding long chain fatty acids..I believe those require bile to break down so you would want to consume those sparingly. If someone has more knowledge regarding this I would appreciate the input.

Thank you for this! I’ve found some sort of equilibrium taking ox bile and not eating too fatty. I will give the rest of your advice a shot and report back!!
