Okay guys I'm going to go vegan for a month just to experiment, any advice?

Is it going to involve plentiful legumes? I advise against that. There's a guy I know of who claims to get most of his protein from ~2 lbs of raw kale per day and the rest generally from sweet fruits such as dates and pineapples. No grains. No tree nuts. No legumes. He seems to be functioning well mentally but he claims to be skinny. (I've never seen him.) Tbh, I started eating 3-6 cups of raw kale per day to see what it's like without eating nearly as much as he does and to get more vitamins and minerals and I am seriously skeptical of this approach taken to an extreme. Even he binges on goat cheese occasionally. I think dairy + vegan is much more reasonable, but I'm not confident that or this guy's diet would easily maintain zinc homeostasis long term without tree nuts and tree nuts are simply not healthy in general.

For me, the solution is simple: beef and low fat seafood for zinc. I think if you drink low fat milk you can get decent protein intake while being mostly vegan. Chocolate also has an interesting amount of protein but is a bit too high in iron for overzealous consumption. If no dairy is allowed, you probably should eat 2 lbs of leafy greens for calcium. I wouldn't bother with any remotely vegan diet that didn't involve lots of fruit and melons. Legumes and bread are garbage. Rice is okay in moderation and potatoes and sweet potatoes are often practical sources of calories.

Did you want to lose body fat? You could also try eating a lower fat diet. I think some people who go vegan and lose weight accidentally do this and assume it's only avoidance of animal products that helped them.

Okay, I mean I want to lose body fat, yes, fruits are good, but I'm really into bread, and except for fruits, is the only whole food that tastes good to me. I also want to know how to maintain motivation with my diet.

I forgot to mention, don't forget about salt intake if you end up making all your meals yourself. I almost want to make an article on why bread is crappy but it's really more important that you have foods to replace it which you are excited about instead of hyperfocusing on what is wrong with the current diet.

Motivation comes from a background of good health and it is possible you won't be motivated to eat the things which will promote good health the fastest. However it takes a peculiar disposition to be disgusted by the prospect of eating sweet things, and as long as sweet things are on the menu, they may as well be fruits and melons which provide energy and sustain health. The spirit may be uplifted by sweet sustenance and from there the ground is fertile for motivation to sprout. Eating according to instinct instead of blind routine is even more likely to sustain and cultivate joyful motivation.

Yeah, don't.

I did it for a year, you feel limp and weak the entire time. Never feel full after a meal, your shit turns to hard little pebbles. Your fridge has more pills and supplements in it than actual food and your muscle mass falls off dramatically.

Oh, and your breath stinks.

Just go easy on the meat and eat a balanced diet like a normal, non retarded person.

Vegan here, have been vegan for about a year now. Checked my blood test results recently and everything was normal and good. Don’t stress too much when going vegan but just make sure you know what you’re doing. I would highly reccomend oats, lentils and nutritional yeast as staples for a vegan diet. Also it wouldn’t hurt getting an interest in nutrition so you know where to get your specific vitamins and minerals from. Oh and another thing, do not leave out carbs.

I was posting a video of a gorilla eating shit. They need to eat their own shit because even as herbivores, they still need to digest certain foods twice to extract all the nutrients from it.

How many cups of lentils will it take to get around 200g of protein? For putting on muscle. I bet it's a lot. Don't forget your carbs and multivitamins.

Vegan here… eating whole wheat pasta everyday with tomato sauce. Feels good man. And salads. And tea. And coffee. And more pasta. Sometimes we have potatoes too, but I'm at college and the options are really limited. Literally every breakfast item is either bacon or eggs, which sucks. Aside from oatmeal, but who the fuck wanna eats bland communal oatmeal from a trough.

Yes I never disagreed with you, you have to eat a lot of lentils to reach 200g of protein, you have to eat a lot of anything to reach 200g of protein-even meat. Humans don’t require 200g of protein-not even bodybuillders. The only exception could be strongmen who need a lot more protein but not to say they need 200g. Also I didn’t make that picture, I believe the point the artist is trying to make is that you can get protein from plants.

I thought the rule of thumb was around 1g-1.5g protein for every pound for putting on muscle and increasing strength. The average American male is what, 190lbs? Even if they're maintaining just muscle while losing body fat through cardio (0.8g protein/lbs), that's still an intake of over 150g, which is a healthy amount for muscle repair from high activity. If they're sedentary or only lightly active, you could pull that down to 50g-60g, maybe.

I'm not a dietician or nutritionist though. Curious as to how you can get enough protein for lifting without having chunks of tofu and beans for every meal. I don't know, post a meal plan or something.

Bodybuilders use protein powder

If youre a vegan bodybuilder, then use vegan protein powder

Or reconsider why you're bodybuilding. Because /fit/ told you to?

Just be healthy and lift normally. Be happy with 'only' a 225lb bench press. Be able to run a marathon.

A bag of green peas has 20g protein in it. A can of beans has like 35g of protein. Just get over 40-50g a day and you won't fuck it all up. Have more if you want.

Veganism is way better for your health. I still hit the gym everyday. Most of the "bodybuilders" are bloated and balding.

I do strength training because my work is physical and I got sick of getting gassed every time I had to pull start my cunt of a chainsaw or even bigger cunt of a generator. Nearly had a heart attack after pushing a cart full of lumber up a hill. Also, my mobility/flexibility was shit and I was developing bad posture. I'd put off any kind of sport or athletic activity due to a combination of old injury, bad habits, poor fitness and worse motivation.

If I fall below 100g of protein a day for an extended amount of time, say a week, the first thing to noticeably fail is my grip strength. I no longer need to worry about my nails chipping and peeling off (that only happened a few times), cuts that get infected and take forever to heal, sore joints and torn muscles. All due to adding more protein to my diet. I aim for 250g, but usually get around 150g. Not even on a bulking program at the moment, but I plan on getting a head start before I start seeing a powerlifting coach. Because I need a hobby.

>40-50g of protein per day

Whoah, slow down there buddy. If you weigh over 25kg, you'll be exceeding your recommended daily minimum and probably start making gains. Then you'll need to eat more and the cycle will never end.

>>142179

>almost had a heart attack

The heart is a muscle. I was pushing about 200kg of lumber up a hill in a cart. Pushing it was easy. Pushing it over uneven ground fairly was easy. Pushing up an incline was relatively easy. Pushing it up 750m of uneven incline taxed my muscular endurance to it's limit. Particularly my core strength. Probably pushed my heart rate over 180bpm, not to mention the lactic acid build-up in my gut, shoulders and hamstrings. It was a deciding moment in me committing to doing some proper training.

Adding more protein to my diet also sorted out a lot of other complaints. I thought I was saving money easing cheap processed food supplemented by what I grew in the garden and the occasional bit of hunting and fishing. Sure I'd buy fresh food occasionally, but nowhere near as much as I should have. I was just thoughtlessly filling my stomach with noodles, tinned shit and the occasional proper meal. I even got my vegetarian girlfriend to start consuming dairy again and she's no longer borderline anemic. She'll probably be eating bacon again by the end of the year if I get my way.

>eats rotting meat

It's normally called 'high meat', if you like to use that search term to find out more. It's not simply road kill.

>believes the earth is flat

Most intelligent White people spend significant time researching, listening or otherwise sinking time in to conspiracies. You feel the same way towards certain conspiracies like flat earth like normals view /pol/acks for their holocaust denial or revisionism. One subject should not conflict the other in your mind, it's something you can get over when you realize that it's actually relatively deeper thinkers that can be the most wrong about reality. Consider Communists, the one who actually read the works behind the system, they can spend hundreds of hours of extrapolating theory and refining details only to have missed the main fault in their initial logic, in communists case it's extreme idealism and equality, btw.

>refuses to support himself

>mooches off his subscribers

>gets mad about not being paid

So he has a business model that doesn't pay beyond his travel, food and clothes? He offers advice to people who swear by him saving their lives, for free, doesn't get hardly anything in return and gets mad about being left out in a foreign country.

Anyway, e-celebing is gay, try and stick to the ideas next time before slandering someone.

No, he's a literal beggar that travels and makes crybaby videos when no one gives him a place to live for free.

>How many cups of lentils will it take to get around 200g of protein?

~11.1 cups of prepared lentils.

Each cup being 198 grams, which is the customary US size for 1 cup.

This is the same as ~2.197 kg of prepared lentils, or 4.85 lb.

In comparison, you have to eat 714g of beef to reach 200g of protein.

He also calls humans obligate carnivores when he doesn't know what that means and it bothers me every fucking time. If you HAVE to call humans carnivores then at least say facultative since we can digest both.

Sv3rige is fighting veganism. How can that be harm?

There are literally only a handful of people pointing out the lies of veganism.
