isometric exercises and exercises with high tension really do work. ive seen prisoners work out using towels and cellmate to work out, and its basicl this.
also some gymnastic level stuff like planche makes your bicep strong as fuck and its not even the muscle thats targeted the most (yes i know the whole body is at work at this level stuff, but anterior delts and scapular muscles, core , spinal muslces, are "targeted" )
