I think, so far from what i've seen, that the board has been managed pretty well, no complains from me at least, but our dead state actually doesn't come from quality but from userbase
Almost no boards get high activity outside /v/ and /pol/, the latter even receiving a batch of youth newfags (500+) in the last months due to the election, and quite honestly most of those guys aren't really about movies, nor /v/ which, even with a severe lack of good games, have a lot of stuff for their time. We have actually managed well compared to the vast majority of boards
Advertising the board is a decent idea, it might... it WILL bring folks with a somewhat different perspective from most users here but it will give activity, at least for a week. Problem is that if we get too many it might break into a /tv/-tier Hollywood feetposting
The best time to advertise would be in the early December, when most folks are on vacation or get more relaxed on their jobs
Or advertise this place as a thinly-veiled/non-confirmed private tracker chat, which is risky but gives those guys a lot more liberty than in their native forums. It's not like i want an invite or anything but their forums are tough alleys to post shit, at least the 'Tik. Problem would be the invite beggars, once upon a time old /mu/ tried something like that, it might have worked for some what.cd/waffles users, which i saw many, but last.fm was the big break in vitality, but also fucked their catalog.
Lots of possibilities, and we cannot underestimate the freedom we have here, plus we can say nasty stuff without repercusions unless we spam it
Don't worry, that i can say
