Today marks the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima, so let's get talking about Hibakusha cinema.

What films or documentaries have you seen/plan on seeing that reflect on the bombing or cope with themes relative to that event.

Some of the material is difficult to stomach – even the brief archival footage used in Hiroshima mon amour for example.

This silent color short from the US Air Force was filmed 9 months after the detonation.

HIROSHIMA, A WAY OF LIFE (1946)

Great topic. I was thinking about this too.

A couple films I want to see are Children of Hiroshima (1952) and Black Rain (1989). Shindo is one of my favorites and Hiroshima was his hometown. I've never seen anything from Imamura so I'm interested to check him out.

And what about Nagasaki? Kinda overlooked. I know there was less damage, but they still got nuked.

> what about Nagasaki?

You could try Children of Nagasaki from Keisuke Kinoshita
