Hey,/film/, I'm thinking about applying for this international program (
http://international.famu.cz/page.php?page=38) at FAMU, does anyone here have any experience with FAMU at all? I've heard good things but it would be nice to hear some personal experiences if anyone has any. Or experience with film school in general

Maybe I'm just a bitter judgemental cunt but I couldn't see myself paying any amount of money to spend a year working with those people pictured.

Prague is quite beautiful and I'd love to spend time there. I think film school is about "networking" with your fellow students as much as actual learning. By that I mean you may want to work with your friends when you graduate.

What can you learn from a film school that you can't onthe internet or books?

>>4365it's not about learning theory and watching films so much as it's about getting experience making films with like-minded people and making connections and stuff. I've told myself I don't need film school for the last two years, and I've learned a lot on my own time, but studying film can only get you so far

I had a bad experience with film school. Teacher was a total pleb who interjected his political views into everything. The other students had barely any knowledge of film. Just overall bad. University all around was shit, happy I dropped out. I don't know why anyone would recommend it, unless you find yourself a truly exceptional program. I'm actually interested in if other anons have gone to or are currently attending film school.

Oh thank god someone bumped this thread
Help me /film/ so I don't have to make a thread bitching about this: What the fuck do I do?!
My parents are on my back and for good reason, funds are tight and begin the first born child, they're kicking me to the curb before anything else. A year ago they would have told me I shouldn't get a job yet, but I'm skipping school a lot so now they're just telling me to work at McDonalds.
I tried looking at film majors, in colleges, problem is they're all literally fucking plebs of the worst caliber, if I'm looking to take things seriously college seemingly is the worst place to go, they tried emulating some hipster shit Godtard Anderson mix for their trailer, and from the 5 minutes I've seen from non official film schools, they're slightly less awful but still nowhere near as knowledgeable.
What do I do?
If I fail, I can always just spend a year or so as a homeless teenager and then write a book to leech off the average dumbass for sympathy like the Jew Jew York has turned me to.
What do I do? I don't want to be forced to cuck to survive.

I’ve actually looked into FAMU before, and it seems like a solid choice—great reputation, especially for cinematography and directing. I haven’t studied there personally, but I’ve heard from friends that the program is quite intensive and creatively rewarding. In general, film school can really help with networking and developing a strong portfolio. Speaking of inspiration, I’ve been watching a lot of creative indie content on https://my-drama.com/ lately—it’s a great video platform for short video serials and really showcases fresh storytelling. Would love to hear if anyone here has attended FAMU!
