The movement might still hold though. French SJW zoomers are trying to import this crap from the anglosphere but the old french left has traditionnaly been immune from idpol bullshit (which may sound paradoxical considering idpol's ideological roots) mostly because of France's strong populist/jacobin tradition, so the latter might still prevail over the former.
I doubt the YW will be successful. Macron is basically Thatcher and he won't give up. The next presidential election will be interesting though. The oligarchy survived in 2017 but I doubt it will in 2022. Too jaded to feel concerned though.

The Ultra-left (that's how we call them here) is and always be a minority of any movement they push but sheer numbers aren't necessarily an indicator of their capacity of nuisance. They have very good psyop and experience. According to my friend it's become a struggle between them and the general populists who may lean left but still wants to keep the YW protests as "common man VS the oligarchy" protests. I'm not sure if I'm being clear.
The YW isn't uniform at a national level though. Some regional groups are more marked ideologically than others.

The PCF was large but was it larger than in other Western European countries? I'm not sure and I can't find any data on this. That said the French Left isn't about communism alone.
