Is substance abuse necessary condition of being doomer?

Can't one be fully aware or even appreciate state of decay and despair with sober mind?

I used to drink a lot during my college days but realized even that very hedonistic escape was meaningless and went cold turkey almost as soon as I dropped out. I want to observe undoing of this planet with clear body and mind just for the sake of it.

Anyone on the same boat please share your view. Also would appreciate if other genuine doomers tell me why they resort to alcohol instead of other hard drugs or mutilation like generations before you did.

I developed a fear for anything that alters my perception of reality since I was a kid, I have never drank alcohol or smoked in my life, though I want to try LSD at some point, just a one time thing to mess with my head.

I guess the first step of being doomer is de-spooking the word 'responsibility '

I don't drink. lost the love for it. it just got old, as everything does, eventually. and dies.

I've tried DMT, LSD, 2cb, shrooms, MDMA, speed, weed, alcohol, and a few research chemicals.

Nothing helped.

Since then I got pretty much sober, quit porn, quit fapping, quit casual sex with tinder girls, but I still drink coffee and vape nicotine.

I also became religious and started praying and practicing transcendental meditation.

My new lifestyle hasn't cured my doomer-dom, but it has made me healthier and I am typically in a good mood as long as I'm a neet.

The thing is I've been unemployed for three months and isolated more than I've ever been in my life.

I am in a good mood when I'm in my room, as soon as I'm forced to do outside tasks I remember why I used substances like alcohol and weed in the past.

cheap, legal, (for the most part) socially acceptable, has a lot of culture around it, subject of many novels, movies and songs, etc. etc.

>I want to observe undoing of this planet with clear body and mind just for the sake of it.

too much clarity is a curse. that's one reason to drink-- to make the burden of consciousness a bit lighter.

>as soon as I'm forced to do outside tasks I remember why I used substances like alcohol and weed in the past.

Can relate to this. I wasn't drinking for quite some time but then I realized that if I have at least few beers before I go out, I'm more likely to have chance for clearing out my head a bit. Nightwalks only with cigarettes are not doing the magic for me anymore and I can't stop feeling so tense or even anxious sometimes. Luckily I don't truly have to go anywhere except when I need to buy something or pick up something from post office.

>I am in a good mood when I'm in my room, as soon as I'm forced to do outside tasks I remember why I used substances like alcohol and weed in the past.

Exactly the same here with me. The more I retreat / self-ostracize myself from society the less I need to rely upon drugs. I'm off of coffee (used to have 4-5 strong cups a day while working /studying) no longer smoking or doing recreational drugs. However I do drink maybe once or twice a week to enjoy myself (and occasionally when I'm pissed off about something i'll drink to excess)

>>19150

I don't drink to interact with society, I drink because I've had to. I'm an angry and cruel drunk, so I only get really drunk when I'm pissed and want catharsis from rage.

So it's like you can keep the bucket full so long as you remain by the ocean, but the bucket has holes so as soon as you need to leave it drains quickly; what meditation is supposed to help you with is to plug up those holes so you can go longer without need of retreat. In other words, you need more practice if you're still unable to remain zen while interacting with the outside world, as you've yet to become like a cracked gong that doesn't react no matter how hard it's hit.

A long time ago I was on antidepressants for a few years. I only realized afterwards that my behavior at the time was absolute cringecore because of the drugs. I don't know why people voluntarily take anything that's mind-altering.

i cant really drink anymore.

the hangovers keep getting worse

i used to be able to drink vodka like water, but now the smell makes me gag

the taste and smell bring back bad memories. some of the lowest points of my life have taken place while drunk on cheap vodka. getting arrested, cutting myself up, nearly dying like twice, hurting people.

i also developed GERD from getting drink every day for like 3 weeks, now i wake up choking on stomach acid if i get drunk more than 3 days in a row. it's awful.

im more of a fan of opiates now. no hangover, no bullshit. just pop a couple of pills and within 30 minutes to an hour you're riding a feeling of absolute warmth and completeness.

You took this one psychoactive substance created by a group of jewish satanists meant to genocide/castrate white people as well as literally enslave an entire nation and you to the (((medical system))) and you group up every mind altering substance to be on that level?

I avoid it just because I feel like I might become dependent on it, at which point I'm completely at the mercy of the people who provide and make whatever substance I become dependent on. I don't want to give them leverage to control me.

>I want to observe undoing of this planet with clear body and mind just for the sake of it.

You're a Canadian. Your country is a microcosm of everything wrong with the planet. A postmodern, culture-less, Americophilic, desolatre wasteland full of the laziest, backwards ass, hypocritical, virtue signalling people the West has ever shit out in its dying days. Your Prime Minister is the laughing stock of your country, and your right wing desperately clings to the idea that there was anything worth defending in the first place, even though the only reason you exist is because Britain was about to get cucked by Uncle Sam yet again in 1866 (the Annexation Bill was really alluring to a lot of your forefathers). You let pedophiles run rampant, you get butthurt over hockey because it was the only thing you ever had going for you and now the US/Euros are blowing you the fuck out every tournament, your justice system is beyond fucked, your country has no identity of its own - American music, American movies, American sports, American literature, and so on are all you have going for you. Canada is getting cucked by the fucking Saudis of all people, the Chinese laugh at your paltry attempts to assert nationhood, and even the celebrities who idolize you for virtue points online won't even move to you because you're a frozen wasteland most months and your "cities" are small town America on steroids (check out Deadmonton, Failberta's love of raping kids - seriously, it's a huge problem there) while Toronto tries so hard to pretend it's New York.Honestly, all you have to do is just sit back and enjoy the ride - in fifty years, your country will finally stop pretending it is one and join the Union. It's likely for the best. Nothing personal against you, anon, but I honestly believe Canada is Doomer Central. Doomers anywhere else in the world can at least point to a golden age, etc in their country's history. What can Canadian doomers point to?

You don't have to kick us in the teeth while we are down buddy

Concept of 'Canadian' never existed and never will outside of self-parodying stereotypes.

Canada is not a country with cohesive culture and history but mosaic of grey sky, grey building, grey people thinking they are happy.

You see why I stopped drinking yet?

Nah it was just polite saging for being off topic. Maybe it's good time to create thread about national identity now that this board attracted people of various political perspective. In a sense that could be one of defining category that differentiate doomers from past counter cultural outbursts

Anyone who complains that alcohol is expensive is fucking stupid and isn't a stealth master, I can ride my bicycle 60 kilometers to a grocery store in the countryside that has no security cameras and I can load an oversize camping backpack with two 12x750ml boxes of Smirnoff for fucking free.
