Still remember when this site was made to get away from the shit halfchan mods. Gamerg8 was political, sure, but not like how it is now.
Feels like we got invaded, but in all likelihood the site just grew old and festered.

It absolutely was murdered. Halfchan got invaded by tourists, sure, but this place got invaded by insane political morons who went on shootings.
Killed the fucking site, really. It became less of a better chan, and more of a hangout for the same people chans were designed to get away from i.e. normalfags and their opinions.

There was like one shazbot who went on a shooting spree you sperg. What killed 8chan was incredible mismanagement, the former site admin turning into a christfag, and the simple fact that besides the people who came here because of GG and the mass exodus from halfchan, there weren't many posters here in the first place, and a good many of the halfchan refugees either went back to halfchan after it was sold, or moved on to other sites when 8chan went offline and by the time 8kun was a thing, they no longer gave a fuck or never found out about it.
This board in particular, however, suffers from a massive case of "stop liking what I don't like" and "this is my sooper seekrit club for 1337 h4xx0rz only guize!!!" which drove off most people who had a passing interest in the greater themes of cybepunk, preventing the board from growing and simply creating constant animosity with increasingly petty purity tests.

Sure, this board had puritytest shit, although to be frank I never saw it as bad as you make it out to be. Mismanagement played a part, but to say that the demographic of the site didn't change would be a lie. Infinity still had quite a few posters after hiroshimoot, and people still stuck around for actual content and good posts.
What killed the site was the demographics, as more and more extreme morons began to join the board and dilute it with shit like Q. By the time it was about to go offline, the site was being seen as a terrorist hangout by normals and for all intents and purposes was filled with transplanted scum, one of which would go on to fuck it all up and end up getting it offline'd.

Well what did you expect? for years i was like that, constantly arguing that not every board has to be /pol/ but times change, at this point the existence of a place like this is in itself a political statement, you can't escape it, instead of trying to ignore it you should embrace it.
Stop being so naive thinking you can get away from politics.
Don't get me wrong, a huge amount of /pol/ is made up of obnoxious spergs but that's another matter.

Just because everything is, by definition, a political statement doesn't mean that /pol/ flooding into every board should be tolerated or enjoyed. That's just like the people who shove politics into videogames and then argue that everything is political and its alright. Not only is there a big difference between actually talking about politics and talking about nu-politics, but there's also a line that can be crossed there. A cyberpunk board should be about cyberpunk. Sure, people can talk about cyberpunk politics or real life politics in relation to that, but in moderation. Big difference between that and simply allowing anything political because "everything is politics".
It is less naivety and more a yearning for an older internet, one without this. Nostalgia combined with bitterness. At least you've found your peace with it hopefully.

I wouldn't tolerate "fascists" if some idiots didn't use that word to describe every non self-hating white male/individual no suffering from daddy issues.
I had to block an idiot on faceberg because he couldn't accept really simple, irreducible, axiomatic logic that proves this is NOT a fascist country.
God fucking damn it anyway! I may not be 'l33t', I may not have been in the 'scene' before the Eternal September(tm), but at least I used the internet to learn. There are plenty of midwits out there pushing me in the elitist camp, and I don't like it, not one bit. It sucks, I tell ya, some people should not have smart phones, let alone a laptop.

/pol/ is openly fascist. Not pretending, just plain fascist. By asking us to tolerate /pol/, you are asking us to tolerate fascism. This is really simple, irreducible, axiomatic logic.
It’s not the rest of the world that uses fascism to describe non-self-hating whites, it’s you who got desensitized to the bat shit insane ramblings of schizos off their meds. You should go outside and see the world without the bitter lonely virgin lens sometimes.

Not that guy, but there is literally nothing wrong with fascism. And he is absolutely right; self-hating hwhites and and non-hwhites are calling anyone who isn't a self-loathing leftist who takes the knee and chants "black lives matter" because some methead career criminal died of an overdose as the police was arresting him.
If you want censorship and trigger warnings there are countless places you can get; social media, Tumblr, Reddit.
>You should go outside and see the world without the bitter lonely virgin lens sometimes.

All things being honest, there is, in theory, little to nothing wrong with any political system. The problems come up when you're dealing with dissent. Fascism tends towards authoritarianism, and there very much are some pretty fucking major problems with authoritarianism, not the least of which is the simple fact that it is unsustainable because you can only beat down dissent for so long before there are enough angry, disenfranchised dissenters to mount an effective enough resistance that civil war becomes inevitable.

/pol/ isn't completely fascist, and to argue that it is would be wrong. Plus, /pol/ itself is a place of complete freedom of speech, so it isn't even a fascist board by design. I don't like including /pol/ in cyberpunk, as shown through my response, but that doesn't mean I'm some sort of leftist hippy who wants "them darn evil /pol/ fascists" off the board. I just want /pol/ gone for the same reasons I'd want /leftypol/ gone, only moreso because infinity was fucked up by /pol/ schizos itself.
Do I think cyberpunk is political? Yes, and its politics depend both on western or eastern cyberpunk as well as regular differences between authors. A lot of cyberpunk has been distinctly left wing in regards to personal freedoms and criticisms of supercorporations. However, /pol/ oftentimes criticizes people who restrict freedoms and supercorps, so to act as if cyberpunk is communist or anti-fascist in of itself is a reach.
Just get the goddamn real life politics off the board if it refuses to add anything of note to discussion. Or restrict it to a single thread. I don't care anymore.

Communism
Fascism
What are the overlaps?

It is not dead obviously, just very slow and rare. we could think about ways to resurrect it though. interest in cyber-security and privacy is growing. we don't have to go out advertising it actively, but most people are visiting one or two other boards as well. And threads about cyber-security, finger-printing and so on appear from time to time. if you post a page like:
>cyberpunk-life.neocities.org
this board is linked on that page. That mean's that only those people who click through it and find it interesting land here. wouldn't be a strong sieve but it would be one. Actually I think that's how I ended up here.
