I don't really know how to introduce this other than to say, "here's a terabyte of space for you to put all things cyber. Can be images, music, porn, anything at all.

Goes without saying.. keep it legal.

Also, sure, you can delete everything everyone has uploaded and be a dick about it.. but why would you?

The server I set up isn't super reliable, it's some shitty p4 system and a load of drives I acquired over time. But y'know. High tech low life and all.

Right, having issues with my ISP again. This time, the ping is tanking whenever an ftp connection is made. It could be a configuration error, but can't see why it would be since I haven't changed anything. Ping is litterally going from 20 to 500+ whenever a transfer is made.

Not really sure what to do. Gonna leave it down for a little bit and then we'll try again.

Sorry chummers. If I can't get it fixed, I'll move it to a vps somewhere.

Your ISP have probably figured out that your hosting an FTP server which is forbidden in you contract with them.

So this is a likely a punitive action or they're out right monitoring you specifically.

Either way taking it off line is a good choice.

What have we done to this once beautiful server? Folders exist for a reason people. Anyone who's putting their files right into the root directory needs to stop it right now.

Look at this, it's a pigsty. I would love to organize it for everyone but permissions on that kind of stuff were revoked a while ago. OP, would you be willing to step in and clean this up?

I have set up simple http file repository as a hidden service on TOR.

http://lj3ncszbvqt6vuss.onion/

I am running dedicated VM just for this service, but only have 60GB of space assigned to it, so don't upload large files (video), use it instead to share images, textfiles, infographics. Perhaps in the future we could run our own BitTorrent tracker and share larger files that way.

You're using ftp instead of sftp, but the service isn't allowed from the internet, by the looks of it due to a firewall.

Adding some context to this, many home internet providers block incoming connections to their customers for "security" reasons. While this does help users who are being attacked by the most simple attacks, the motivation is more likely centralization of information.
