Why are manchildren man children? They're adults still obsessed with things made for children so they still show a cihildish value system. It's not any single event that changes them, it's the entire arrested development that does it. The reason they value SJWism is because at it's core it preaches for "being fair". What's wrong with pushing up roses? I've only ever seen her when LGR has her as a guest and then I skip the video. The old DOS crowd doesn't seem too bad. They're nerds with a heavy dose of soy but they're usually nerds before anything else.

One thing worth considering is that many channels run out of steam as they run out of nostalgia. Recently Ancient Dos Games made a video whining he wasn't having fun reviewing DOS games any more. He had run out of the games he played as a child so now he has nothing left he wants to review. Worth considering what sort of a person looks at a library of games and his entire interest stops at revisiting his childhood. I'm sure this applies to a lot of other reviewers and soyites.

Last year when Ashens was doing the convention scene there was an hour long car pool video of 4 of them in the car. He's also giving speeches at all the SJW lead conventions where no one else is getting above 500 views on their shit while he puts it to the top of recommendations.

I think Ashens is probably neutral leaning left. He could easily start his own convention and pull a PAX but I don't think he will. The UK retro gaming scene is really cliquey and he benefits little from it. I think that about sums things up for the kind of scene Ashens is in. To be fair, most games, movies, cartoons, TV shows, etc. are really not that interesting on their own. Without the passion behind it, churning out a new video every weak can get really tiring. I mean what are you even doing? Playing a game from 20 years ago that was just meh even for its time, and then telling the internet about it, week after week. Yes, there are more tedious jobs out there, but at least you get to interact with people instead of being stuck in your room all day.

Most of these reviewers started out when they were college-aged and they found out they could make decent money just doing what they liked from home instead of stacking crates, serving drinks or whatever it was their peers were doing to get by. But eventually their peers moved on to get actual careers while they got stuck playing Autismo the Clown on the internet. It's fun when you are in your 20s, it's sad when you are in your 30s and it's disturbing when you are in your 40s. None of the reviewers have planned ahead, it's like they intend to keep doing internet videos into their 50s and 60s. One day you have to move on, but how are you going to do that when they only skill you can put on your resume is making shitty YouTube videos from your bedroom.

The only way out of that dead-end would be to invest the money you make so that you can live off your investment when you exit. But that would require having enough surplus to invest in the first place.

I forgot to mention, in some of these people you can really see they are also afraid of moving on. Take for example Little Kuriboh, the guy who makes Yu-Gi-Oh abridged, it started out as silly 5-minute dubs with memes. Production values were really shit, but it was nice for what it was. LK has since made it his career, and he is running out of episodes, so he has been spacing them out to absurd length and ramping up the production values which no one had asked for. At this point the abridged edit has taken longer to produce than the actual show.
