To be fair, the first huge quality nosedive I noticed on 4chan was when the 4chan city video was uploaded to newgrounds. Not telling fucking everyone about your nice niche website is usually a good way to go about things, else it stops being your nice niche website.
Though I have no idea if what caused the quality decline really was new people coming from newgrounds (remember when newfag meant someone from newgrounds and not someone new?), or if it happened because people were shitting themselves over imaginary newfags so they cranked their shitposting to 11 and just stopped caring. It was around that time too that mods stopped banning people for things like mentioning they were underage or for posting furry stuff, so maybe there were multiple factors at work there.

Actually there is voting data out there from the last couple years, although its more for millennials than Gen Z. Trump was a massive winner in school mock-elections though. Less kids are entering the college trap, less kids are participating in the Chad-Stacy cycle, more kids are expressing interest in traditional lifestyles.
