Part of the reason of why female-led comedies like this don't work (politics aside) is because the MCs have nobody to call them out when they fuck up, and if they fuck up then it's because of circumstances beyond their control so it's not their fault. This basically makes them look like grown children who do whatever they want, which is annoying to the audience.
In male-led shows there's always a "sane man" character (Benson/Skips in Regular Show, Nicole in Gumball, Leela in Futurama, Marge in The Simpsons, etc) who pegs down the other characters by making them face the consequences of their actions in one way or another. This is necessary because the audience HATES seeing people get away with no repercussions (pic related).
For whatever reason, female comedies tend to avoid this kind of character, and if it's there, they're usually portrayed as an asshole, succumb to the MC's antics, become subservient or eventually join them in their bullshit.
Of course, this is not the case for *all* female shows (Daria, for example), but it is the case for most of them. There's a reason why some people can't stand chick-flicks.
Now, this is not a gendered problem. A lot of male-led comedies have this same problem, but like I said, it's more prominent with women-led shows. Probably because the writers are afraid to portray women in a certain way, suffering certain consequences or being "held back" by other (potentially male) characters. Even female writers are guilty of this, but who knows.
