I'm set to be confirmed next week however I have made a mistake. I went to a confession and confessed all the sins which I remember as being really bad (i.e. pornography) however in that time span I have already committed the same sins with full knowledge. Do I have to go to confession again?

Yes. What makes you think you don't?

God alone forgives us when we have sinned against him. We need to be in prayer in order to obtain forgiveness.
1 John 1:9 says
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

You already know the answer:p… Cant get the Eucharist either in that state. Dont be the man at the wedding without the wedding garment.

>God alone forgives
And yet He gave that authority.
“Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

It seems like you agree with John in 1 John 1:9. If we confess our sins, Jesus Christ the Son of God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
So then like we concluded above, we need to be in prayer in order to obtain forgiveness.
"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." - Hebrews 4:16
Amen.

the answer is directly there how are you not seeing this
there were never Christians that didn't confess to their bishops and priests

confessing sin in your own room by yourself in prayer to God runs risk of being insincere, not true repentance. Like are you really examining your conscience and repenting of your sins if you just keep it all buried, quietly "confessing" it to no other human?
Conversely, confessing to just any other Christian or Joe risks tempting them to sin and disgracing yourself by putting them in a position to gossip.
Oh, but the historic Church founded by Christ are the ones at fault for saying that you should confess your sins to a physical person -who's held under oath to not tell anyone.

I confessed a few days ago, it was my one opportunity so I embarrassed to ask again. I also temporarily convinced myself for a moment I was not Catholic so i wouldn't feel bad but than felt bad when I regained awarness.

I've heard from a homily that I must number my mortal sins and name extenuating circumstances for each one. Problem is I can't remember all of them. I've masturbated to pornography 1-3 times a day for the last 8-9 years and there isn't a way I'm going to remember every single one. I don't know what to do here and I have confession in the morning. I really want to do better.

Just make an estimate. 10 years = 3650 days, 3x/day =~ 7000 times.

Confession is tough. I went to confession today. Nothing makes you think "I don't want to have to confess that sin again" like having to confess something totally depraved.

just went to confession, one thing that's bothering me though is that the priest said "may God absolve you of your sins in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit" instead of "I absolve you of your sins … "
Is the confession invalid? I really don't want to go through that again.

Go with the peace of Christ, and in the knowledge of the Holy Spirit, know that the Son of Man has forgiven you your sins, confess to your priest for the mending of your heart and have faith, and when you no longer believe yourself forgiven confess of that as amongst your sins, for it is more graver for you to confess and then accuse yourself as if you were never forgiven then to have not yet confessed

Confession is good for humbling, but you have to adjust your perception of it so you don't turn it into conceit via prelest.

looking back, my question was a bit obsessive but I've had doubts ever since then. I forgot a lot of mortal sins I committed, partially because they came back to me later and partially because one of the lists I wrote was jammed deep in my pocket and I only found it days later. I also never really got over the things I've done. I can't forget them. I have to wake up every day knowing that I did them.
Saging because this feels off the original topic, but I had to post it somewhere.
