Where am I smearing anyone? Do you deny the fact that cuomo is a member in good standing of the church, and that his bishop deliberately chose not to excommunicate? There are tons of catholic in name only democrats who are unanimously pro abortion, are any of them being excommunicated? I know they are occasionally denied communion

Let's also consider the data. A plurality of catholics are democrat and pro abortion. They are in opposition to the Bible and your church's teaching, yes, but the church is not practicing church discipline.

It is only by acknowledging the problem inside your church that you can devise to correct it.

At my church we have a church constitution where the process of addressing a brother is described as it is instructed in the Bible. If a man in my church were found to be enabling abortion, we would follow the disciplinary process and if he did not repent he would be treated as an unbeliever.

So we see that we are to withdraw from those which are pro-abomination. That includes all those sodomites, fornicators, pro-abortionists, and so forth. In other words, the Christian church has existed outside of these things from its start. You never see in the word of our Lord where any church of God commits anyone to prison or associates with unrepentant mass murderers for political or economic gain. That is the crowd of the faithless who believe not the things contained in this book, the Holy Bible.

hold on now, dissent, including dissent against bad behavior of priests, bishops, cardinals and even popes is a part of Catholic tradition. It is not smearing.

The only things that dissent is prohibited on are the catechism, official declarations and scripture. And even official declarations like Vatican II still allow for some level of disagreement - ie. pope Benedict who later in life can to reject some of the changes to the latin mass
