The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.
It's essentially a primer on how the devil tempts people with sin and dissolution. It's written in an entertaining fiction format.
Back when I was a complete degenerate, I found it easier to relate to this book than the Bible. Eventually it helped me free myself from complete slavery to sin, at which point the Bible began to make more sense.
10/10 book for me. Great for putting children on their guard.

What's your objection to this? Rejection of Papal infallibility when speaking from the seat on faith and morals is literally heresy.

I'm currently collecting books of philosophy and history, focusing mostly on late antiquity, the medieval period, and crusades, with some renaissance. I have a good starting library already. I know there are many Catholics on this board. Being a Baptist, I'm aware of the majority of the Saints, but can anyone direct me to a book that has a concise collection of their writings?
St. Augustine, St. Aquinas, etc. My pocketbook is not large, so I am limited in what I can acquire, though I would love to have an exhaustive library. I prefer hardbacks, as these are books I would wish to leave to generations of my children if it were possible.
Any recommendations?
