Why make a Christian imageboard?
Originally, when I didn't believe in God, having freedom of speech seemed necessary since it allowed people an opportunity to discern the truth about what was going on around them and freely discuss anything about, well, anything, no matter how controversial. I'm a Catholic now, though. Freedom of Speech and the Right to practise my religion only matters insofar that I get to be a practising Catholic. Now that I have the truth that Christ was real, died for my sins, rose again and that I can join him, I don't believe there's any further need to discern the "true nature of reality".
Now, I've repeatedly seen the argument that anonymity is superior to identity because when there's no identity, everything you say is truly evaluated on its own merit rather than the merit of whomever posted it. When Christians are amongst other Christians though, is that really necessary? Would a Christian, someone concerned with the truth and believes Christ to be truth itself, truly fail to consider what a person is saying over whom is saying it?
Personally, another thing I like about imageboards is the memes. There's so much spontaneous creativity being expressed through the memes. I believe the process of meme generation is dependent upon the chaos induced by the interactions between people of various types as well as a sense of play and an ability for the arts. Unfortunately, it seems we Christians don't really have that. We seriously debate with one another about this, that and the other (no play), all of us believing in Christ, we're fairly set in our worldview (no chaos) and nobody makes anything (no arts). The only meme I've seen come out of /christian/ is the "begome" one and even then, that's just a spurdo variant.
If the primary thing Christians do amongst each other is debate then the only way to bring in a sense of play in my eyes is to mock the person you're debating with and of course, we Christians are to be humble and thus, cannot treat each other uncharitably. Due to all of the aforementioned issues, I believe an Imageboard centered around Christianity cannot be an engine for memes.
People may read my post and try to start a "Meme thread" but we all know the truth: you can't just "make" memes. "Made" memes are artificially produced and are laughed at momentarily, only to be tossed to the wayside. They're just like those jokes in a joke-book.
With no need to explore dangerous, illegal topics, with no need for anonymity and with no natural meme-generation, why make a Christian Imageboard? Personally, I've spent a large portion of my youth on them so I'm attached to the aesthetic but that's it. We might as well just use forums.
Admittedly, there is one scenario where it would be good for there to be a Christian Imageboard and that's the one where the world really does become one where Christians are reviled. A world where Christianity has yet to be outlawed so even if our IPs can be tracked, law enforcement won't come for us but Christians are still reviled. I don't know how long such a period would last though before Christianity truly does just get outlawed at which point, I believe Christians would have to relocate to decentralised imageboards on the dark web. Anonymity actually makes sense again, it protects us but nonetheless, that's a far ways away.
