The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

the article seems very good. It doesnt defend specific luxury but the overall idea that being healthy and wealthy doesn't make you an evil greedy.

I think its NOT logical to say that tithing makes you poorer.

consider this:

tithing is good.

God wants people to do good deeds

Limiting good deeds based on birth status is unfair.

restricting the poor from tithing is unfair.

therefore the poor should tithe.

If tithing makes you poorer, the poor would have to stop (once they run out of money)

so, saying a good deed leads to the cease of a good deed is unfair and even not logical.

Therefore, tithing can never make you poorer.

if it doesn't make you poorer it at least makes you richer(if you get the same amount you lost if inflation lowers then you're richer)

This defense is very poor, anon. Tithing isn't done only when material comfort is available, tithing is a justice due to the servants of the Lord for the bounty he hath provided you. It is a duty as a matter of justice to tithe, not as a matter of charity, nor as a matter of some sort of karmic self-enrichment scheme.

You are thinking too literally here. Tithing isn't about the amount of money you give, but about the act of setting aside something for Christ. It is a sacrifice that exists only in that moment and doesn't absolve you from future tithes for any reason. If you are so poor that you have no money, then seek to remedy that situation and when you are given a nickel set aside a penny. Though I'd imagine a Godly Church will set aside much to aid you and should never demand you to tithe if you are in a situation like that. It should be something you do as an act for Christ at all times.

but it DOES self-enrich you.

I have outlined why it's rational to think charity makes you richer.

tithing is optional so maybe some are absolved.

"Tithe" has become a taboo word for me, because all the Prot churches I've attended have promoted it out of pure greed, shaming congregants for not giving "a full tithe" or whatnot. Very selfish, Pharisee-tier behavior that has driven me away from many churches, especially since they recognize virtually no other OT law. "Donate", on the other hand, is a word I love. Donations come from only the heart, and my Catholic Church rarely mentions finances and has never shat on us parishioners for not giving enough. What is "enough", anyway?
