The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

What I mean by this, is like the olde days when god's people were misbehaving, some calamity happened to keep them in their toes, and soon after when things got better they would start to fall into degeneracy again and the cycle repeats. So it seems that is the state of the world nowadays, falling in wide degeneracy, and with the exception of a few calamities (that always seem to affect the same unfortunate region/people), there isn't really anything holding us back is only getting worse. Am I in the wrong for wishing this? And fully aware of being one of the comfortable drones in modern life, living in sin and being draw ever so more to spiritual ignorance and immediate satisfaction, letting the beast take control.

I can understand that's why Jesus came and forgave us for our sin, that we ought to live by his word regardless, and that the final calamity will be his second coming. But I can't help but feel jaded by the state of society that came from the last 2 centuries, too many people, too much comfort, and it brought out the worst in most of us, and I fear even myself and the folk that supposedly follows the true god.

Don't know exactly what I want to achieve with the thread, if you agree with me and feel the same way, or to help me feel less jaded.

I feel pretty similar to you OP, specifically hoping for a civil war so this country can either perish entirely or rebuild itself and seek God.

Of course I acknowledge it is a fantasy, God will bring down his judgement on the modern world whenever the time is right, so I'm not going to worry myself with it more than I should.

I don't think its particularly wrong unless you are honestly wishing for it for the reason of the world getting better i.e. if you are simply acknowledging that something on this scale needs to happen to cause any change, I could be wrong though.

The Lord will come like a thief in the night, just separate yourself from modernity as much as you can and focus on God.

I've been having these thoughts as well. People have been too reckless and I thought I should beat up a few scums in public just to put fear back in people.

It's like we're living lifestyles that should have killed us but didn't and the consequences of the disease are still there.

Well, while it is true that this is the way things have gone, maybe a good way to see it is that the founding fathers tried to emulate, on some level, the period of the Judges of Israel by creating a loose confederation of the 13 Colonies and also how the vast expanse out west became part of the promised land for this new covenant people.

That being said, it got wack pretty fast. Soon it needed an ever more empowered executive, and the south perfidiously waged a rebellion to preserve confederacy.

Sin is wrought too deep to have everything go easy, and exile is to the sin of a nation what death is to the sin of man.

So maybe that's what the future holds for America, especially since they can't seem to control a certain invasion from the south.

I'm not even american, an while degeneracy has spread like cancer in the western countries, both first and third world, we still hold some sort of conception of humanity. Think Africa, the Middle East, India and China (I know I'm assuming Africa as country, but think of it as the winnie the poohed countries in central Africa).

Beginning by which India and China alone hold so much population is a hard thing to grasp, second that they in general hold no value for human or life in general, being most spiritually, even india with a institutionalized culture of degeneracy and rape, with chinese considering it normal to leave your off spring to die, and I not need to say about africa and muslim sub-humanism.

Its not only that of course, even our civilized western world, violence reigns rampant right under our noses, sometimes from the very corrupt institutions we are supposed to thrust. Cartels holding up executions that look more like a crude ritual to satan, sex prostitution rings and slave trafficking, sometimes supported by the very same people normally praised in society. And that's even in smaller scale, with friends leading each others into ruin of drugs and degeneration, turning their real life as a porno in hook up culture. With the ruin of marriage and adultery becoming common place.

Sorry for offloading like that, but I'm on a bad mood.

You mean the Day of the Lord? That will happen once and for all at the eschaton, you know. Until then, go to your local Church on Sunday to get a foretaste of it.
