Hi brothers. I haven't been on here in years but there's something that's tormenting me.

Let's say that you commit a mortal sin, one bad enough to make you start having spiritual encounters in your sleep. You confess the sin and do all you can to rectify the situation, and things are okay for a while.

Now let's say that some years on a person informs you that your sin had even worse consequences than you were initially aware, it's much too late to fix now, and you feel a renewed sense of guilt.

Do you confess again? Would that be disbelieving in the forgiveness that you received the first time? Anecdotally, are there any known side effects to growing up in a house that may have had demonic energy abiding in it?

I'll say now that this isn't building up to be a creepypasta or an /x/ thread in disguise. It's just a genuine request for answers and/or advice. Thanks.

If you've confessed and honestly repented your sin, then you should never feel any more guilt over it. God has forgiven you. To continue to fret and torture yourself over your sin after confessing and repenting honestly is 100% doubting the forgiveness of God. I'd go as far as saying that it is getting dangerously close to outright blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

You realize you can feel guilty over things that aren't sinful? Maybe you feel bad because, say, you fall for whatever reason while carrying a kitten or something, and it breaks one of its bones.

Was it sinful? No.

Feel guilty? Yes.

I don't know about orthos, but if you're catholic, you can confess mortal sins pardoned in confessional before if you feel a need to or you need grace to fight the temptation. However I've seen some modernist priests denying it, so the more traditional your priest is, the better.

If you repented what you've done and you confessed it then you're forgiven. However if you feel guilt..just mention it in th eocnfession, talk to the priest about it. He will probably say you've already been forgiven and you should move on. I confessed several times few sins because I felt bad about them still after confessing them…and this is what I was told.

For some reason I've just never felt guilt about any of my sins… well past confession. Can't contribute to this but sort of wondering even what sort of feeling this is. I guess maybe I haven't done anything thaat bad to someone? I've definitely done somewhat bad things to people, but it's just ehh not that bad in my opinion. Majority of my sins are self inflicted and after I confess I don't feel bad at all. I know this is a thing though cause apparently even Luther couldn't feel absolved after confession. I'm guessing it's some trick that the devil plays on you.
