Hi, I'm sure all of you already know that Astronauts wear diapers (or Maximum Absorbency Garments, a.k.a. MAGs) during launches, landings and EVAs. Out of curiosity (I'm a big space nerd) I've been looking everywhere on the internet to learn more about them, their history, how do they look like, their quality, anecdotes and any other little details (Maybe I could made another post and share them).
Among the things I could find are two sightly recent (around 2010) pictures of the diapers and a video, and to my surprise they don't look too fancy and doesn't seem to be very different from your average adult pull up. That got me thinking if they're actually just off-the-shelf diapers or if they're somehow special in a non-obvious way. So I tried looking for similar pull ups and to do so I looked for these specific details:
>Plain white adult pull ups with no additional designs on them
>They seem to be low-rise so they shouldn't peek to much above the pants when worn
>6 elastic bands on the waistline
>3 elastic bands on each leg hole
>A pair of elastic bands on the front at the crotch level
>Tear-away seams
>The absorbent part goes all the way up until the elastic bands
>An adhesive strip on the back to make it easier to roll-up for disposal
>That adhesive strip is transparent except for a blue bit at the top
>The size is written as a single black letter on that adhesive strip
The most similar diaper I could find were the Tena Pants (mainly because of the 6 elastic bands) but they didn't had all the details I just mentioned, so it may be another completely different diaper or it could be a previous version of the Tena Pants, since I couldn't find images older than 3 years and considering that NASA buys them in bulk.
Now, having said all that, I ask for your infinite wisdom to please help me find this diaper.
