How did you get into cars?

And when? Since you were a kid, or fairly recently?

I started being interested in cars cause of eurobeat.

Please don't laugh.

A friend once linked me to some tracks like 4 years ago and I got hooked and thought since it's popularized by Initial D I could try playing it with NFS3, a childhood racing game, and I wasn't the same since.

I didn't even watch Initial D until 2 years later.

I'm listening to eurobeat as I'm making this post.

I liked cars because they were in tv shows and video games and at the time they were really good. I got more seriously into cars when modern cars all turned to undesirable shit so I looked into why that was the case and started imagining that I could do a better job.

I know you were, anon.

My mom got the virus herself from her father, who saldy was a scrooge when I knew him old, so he only had a BMW E46 318 convertible.

My mom likes all kind of cars, she isn't a gearhead so it's all about design and power. She isn't the richest but she has a Mercedes-Benz C 180 class break (S204) for work and she loves the extra comfort she has (she used to ride in shitecoboxes like Suzuki Swifts).

She'd love to buy a brand new Mini covertible, MX-5 or a 124 to have a convertible though.

I got into heavy american landboats myself since I'm young and kept the virus. i'd love a late 60's muscle or anything like an american luxury ride, from a 50's Caddy to a Town Car.

I'd buy a 1960's De Soto or a 1969 Charger though.

My first car was an inherited beater that barely drove.

I had some mechanic friends from work.

The rest of the story involves an engine rebuild, a few thousand dollars in tools, a couple jobs as a technician, marathoning ETCG and Scotty Kilmer, and shitposting on /o/.

I bought my friend's old autocrosser thinking he'd kept up on the maintenance and that it was going to be reliable, only to find out it had a laundry list of shit wrong with it. So I got myself a ten dollar Chinesium socket set, fixed it back up, amd even made some improvements. Now I'm making $25 an hour with benefits wrenching on construction equipment.

It all started when I was little playing around with my toycars. I sooner got interested to some of the real licensed diecast cars more than the fictional ones hot wheels would try to sell out. Another contributing factor was being introduced into the Gran Turismo series, recently delving into deeper in simracing, and some of my friends introducing me to the world of F1.

Post your absolutely blasphemous ideas related to cars.

I have a few.

For one, I'd like to throw a 2JZ into a model A Ford.

I don't know why, but I think it would be absolutely beautiful. All that power in a straight six slapped in a car that's 80 years old.

I'd also like to take a skyline don't really care what gen because I like them all and throw an American V8 behind the AWD drivetrain. Throw a turbo on it and it would be absolutely nuts.

I want to hear some fucking nutty ideas. Preferably those that make my blood boil initially, but eventually make me want to build one.

In the early 1900s you had shit like auto-polo which literally substituted the organic horse for a mechanical one.

Then once the war happened people forgot about the concept of fun and it took 100 years before Top Gear introduced Car Football. They did it several times, yet the only ones who followed in their footsteps are groups of removed rednecks living in California and New York. The only major contribution to pop culture featuring this concept is Rocket League.

I've been pitching this for years. The main problem would be structuring it in such a way that you can run it safely; proper backstops, 180° rule, range control, and so on. Also, there are a bunch of US states that expressly outlaw firing from a vehicle.

The range problems could be solved by properly constructing ranges and placing lateral as well as vertical limits for spectators.

The laws would probably force the sport to only take place in more gun-friendly locales.

>range problems could be solved by…

Here's the most straightforward way I can think of making it work.

The driving portions are done with the weapons unloaded and safe. Off the trail at a couple of points, have properly constructed shooting bays with marked parking spots. Pull in, park in the spot, turn the car OFF. Range officer gives the signal to commence, you shoot the stage like you would any other competition in terms of safety and procedure. Shoot mounted weapons, shoot small arms from the car, dismount, run around, shoot some more stuff, variations on the above, whatever. Once you're done, unload and safe the guns to the ROs satisfaction, he gives you the clear, you remount and keep driving. The only problem is that it doesn't allow you to shoot and drive concurrently.

Toyota City, Japan, October 6, 2017―Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) is set to unveil the GR HV SPORTS concept car at its worldwide premiere at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show 2017, taking place from October 25 through November 5 at Tokyo Big Sight.

>The GR HV SPORTS concept represents a new way to enjoy cars by integrating the thrill of a sports car with the environmental friendliness of an eco-car. who is tesla for 200 alex

>The design is reminiscent of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing's TS050 Hybrid racing car that competes in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). A CANCELLED GROUP S PROTOTYPE WHICH WAS SET TO BE TOYOTA'S EQUIVALENT OF THE DELTA S4 KNOWN AS THE MR2 222D

>Features a targa top that was also used for Toyota's legendary convertible sports cars, the Toyota Sports 800 (a.k.a. Yotahachi) and the Supra just because it can

>Powered by THS-R (Toyota Hybrid System-Racing) that is infused with hybrid technology refined by the TS050 Hybrid but in reality is a completely different system

>While completely embodying functionality as a genuine sports car, the GR HV SPORTS concept features LED headlights, aluminum wheels, and a rear diffuser similar to the TS050 Hybrid MR2 222D prototype. The design evokes - Toyota's bond with motor sports.

>The matte black body color expresses power and aggressiveness and totally does not represent a further connection to the reimagination of the aforementioned rally car.

It depends on the sector, they used to dominate the hatchback segment, at least on my country, with cheap but quick cars, and sometimes, the French lose their fucking mind and create something really amazing like the new Twingo where they made a mid engined shitbox because why not?

Guy your replied to here,

Small hatchbacks, medium hatchbacks, shit crossovers everywhere, more than half the market is dominated by French carmakers.

Sports cars are very rare, people buy them but never daily them. Even for a small one like a 308 GT or a Megane RS.

Pickup trucks aren't a thing. There are more than before though. Hilux and Rangers essentially.

Sedans are essentially business fleets.

Small vans are a thing for family people who don't like car but want a roomy interior (Renault Scenic, Ford C-max, Citroën C4 picasso).

I guess that's also because of the disappearing of the B group in rally. The evo 5 became irrelevant overnight so its next iterations became the shadow of themselves for the sake of selling.

I can't seem to find the thread where we post recent purchases and then collectively laugh at our shitty judgement.

Just bought a '97 Grand Prix GTP because I got a good deal on the price and the only other thing I could afford was a mechanic's special.

I give it 8 months before no single electrical component inside the car works any longer.

How about you, /o/? What black holes of money have you recently saddled yourselves with?

That was one of cuck's worst videos yet. He reviewed a cargo van that has an option to add seats for increased utility and then he had the audacity to call it a minivan to harvest comments and clicks. You can almost hear him snicker while he says the word minivan.
