Stuck-up faggots in local government positions have told this old gentleman to sell all his 218 cars at a rate of at least 20 per month.

jalopnik. com/a-michigan-town-is-forcing-this-man-to-sell-20-old-cars-1797608865

https://annarbor.craigslist.org/search/cto?query=Ron

He doesn't have very many listed on craigslist, but if you see something or are looking for something give him a call. Don't let these go to waste. I'm going to try to make the long drive to help him out for a day near the end of this month, as it sounds like an awful situation *that is partly his own fault.**

To Americans, are you hyped that Peugeot, Citroën and DS will hit the American ground in the next 10 years? This time it seems the French brands will be back, as they bought Opel from GM, which, oppositly, backed from the European market except for the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette and Cadillac, which only sells 30 units per year.

So now that your Buicks won't be rebranded Opels, you'll have new French brands to buy from, will you do it?

<I believe you guys won't, since only the 208 gti and 308 gti have decent engines, but for the global population, some of their products seem to fit the US market.

I don't know if it's jealousy or a remnant of Revolutionary, anti-nobles thinking, but a lot of French people (guess what, the ones that don't earn much and don't want to) kind of hate the richer people. I see a lot of "nice" cars that are keyed just because the brand sounds luxurious (they won't damage a collectible ride though). Last time, in a mob (never change, France), retarded lefties burnt a 1997 Porsche 911 Convertible, just because it was a Porsche and "take that rich people"! Turned out that the owner was a 65 yo retired carpenter that saved 20k€ to buy his dream car, which is cheaper than most new cars in France nowadays.

tl;dr: France is full of retarded lefties.

It just so happens I just did a large maintenance on a 140000km FB25 in an outback.

That shit was dry as a bone, not a single leak in sight. the only part that failed on that engine during those 140000k kilometers was the flex joint on the left bank of the exhaust header, which is why it is removed in the picture.

At 140000km the plugs were still VERY nice, but were replaced anyway, as the guy drives a lot (it's a 2015!). right bank was easier than expected, left bank was tight, even taking out the battery tray, but the hardest part of the job was unlocking the coil connectors, which use metal clips.

As for the rest of the car, it had a rear pinion seal failure, and the pinion flange needed a speedy sleeve.

The rest was all fluids and shit, so pretty reliable overall. The exhaust manifold would have even gone under warranty if he had had it checked a week ago, as subaru's warranty on that item ended at 130000km, which probably was last week. Thank you LKQ for a nice used one from a 12000km donor, R&R was ridiculously easy, My boss was like "What? it's already done?"

Very rarely, because my country has inspections. 98% are okay with an inspection sticker, maybe 40% stick a ruler in tire threads to measure if those are adequate winter wheels. Thread has to be at least 3.5mm in winter and 2mm in summer. Though tire checks only happen about at the same time as first snow/meltdowns. My teacher once drove an entire summer with fucking slicks, and nobody cared.

Police in general assume your car is working, because you were driving it a minute ago.

>You turned it off because it is easier to speak to each other without backgroud huming, and rolled down a window to be able to speak to each other and pass papers around.

<He does not know and will never that maybe that was the last time your engine ran or your windows do not even go up.

Friend just got back from overseas. Wants to buy an older car as a daily driver and as a hobby and he asked for my help not so much because of my mechanical expertise but because he's a babby and had a car thats not his mom's 2008 impala or a humvee. He asked me what I thought about the "shelby charger". Apparently thats an 80s subcompact…dodge charger that was built with the direct consultation of…Carroll Shelby.

So I'm pretty fucking confused. Anybody know anything about these cars? I haven't been able to find much? I tried talking him into something similar but more common like a datsun or a foxbody but he seems really set on it.

Alright. I daily drive a 86 Lebaron GTS. Basically the same car, same engine, etc. but with less power. I've had it for 4 years now, second owner. If its a west coast car, there's 0 rust involved. The head gasket is known for blowing if not properly warmed up before driving. Turbo only does 9 psi stock, and you better find one made after 87 with the turbo II engine because the turbo I really sucks for mods because of the intake setup.

Even then, modding for real horsepower requires knowledge and parts which are few and far between for these cars. Your better off with a ford fox body, trust me. Both in terms of maintenance and modding.

Ask me anything, I do all my own work on it.

Forgot to add. I'm part of the southern California K-Car Club (yeah its like a club for guys with std's but still) and I truly do mean I've never seen a car with rust. I've seen roached out pieces of shit, begging to be junked. I've seen total, showroom new restores. No rust, but then again I'm west coast.

They ride real smooth and have some power, but they don't handle worth a shit.

Water pumps are pain in the fucking ass to change. Left side tire comes off, all belts, crank pulley, water pump pulley, then like a billion bolts holding it in.

Same as rack and pinions. Pain in ass.

Common maintenance couldn't be easier tho. Distributor and rotor are literally in your lap. Oil filter is accessible from the top of the car. Get some real good quality spark plug wires for it, you will notice a difference from shitty wires. I stuffed an MSD coil in mine, made it so much smoother.

If you have a car with the turbo I engine, dont bother with mods. At all. The bottom end is the same as turbo II engines (iirc) but intakes and exhaust manifolds are way easier to work with and flow better in turbo II.

Eurofag here, the new small trucks are coming here because the market is slightly growing, that´s why they start meeting European standards. This goes for the Ranger, the MV 2000, the Hilux, the Navara, and the new contenders, Renault Alaskan and Mercedes X-class.

Note that I see more and more imported Dodge RAM round here.

yeah it's a lot of shit, most people could get away with an extended cab mini truck with a 4 banger and an option for 4x4. I think toyota has that market right now, but those still seem big imo.

I really think a small no frills truck with a simple 2L turbo diesel and a 5/6 speed trans would do well here in the states, that would be my kind of daily.

That's going too far, I think. Just bringing back what the US small truck market used to be instead of making it like pic 1 I think would be enough.

>>14036

More casual than the usual /o/ poster probably, so I don't know that much. Are the European standards what's making them all ugly, electronics-filled, and all but getting rid of the traditional regular cab?

>>14148

I already have a truck, am not in the market nor living condition apartment complex for getting another one, just discussing. Luckily I live in idaho so old vehicles are in great shape unless the owner actively breaks it. Mine looks practically brand new despite being 14 years old and used by the previous owner as a work truck at a gravel pit.

Look at the fucking Citroën C4 Cactus. Or the Opel Adam. Or even the Renault Captur. These shits are the regular rides in Europe and are electronic-filled hatchback pseudo-crossover trash.

When a European thinks about a pickup truck, he thinks big, wide and useless flatbed. When a European buys a pickup truck, he never uses the cargo bay, he just drives it. So yeah, he cannot comprehend why there's no space for their children/coworkers in the back in a double cabin. And as the American brands are the top sellers in pickup trucks, they come to the European and foreign markets with their smaller trucks saying

>hey we have them like you want them!

And they don't make the regular single cab, small engine pickup truck because cost productions.

Well after 3 months my new car is officially totaled. honestly that thing was getting on my nerves and I was starting to hate it, but still it was my first car that I actually bought with my own money and got a loan for and shit. Also I can't go anywhere now and can't work so that kinda sucks.

6k I'm on the hook for and might still have to pay a good chunk depending how bad the insurance tries to jew me on the "value" of the car. I didn't even want that car though. 6k is more than I've ever spent on anything in my life, granted it was really the bank's 6k but with 6k I could take care of pretty much other problem in my life for the foreseeable future and move forward from this shitkicking paycheck to paycheck hell I live in now. If I was gonna spend 6k on anything else, my standards would be impeccably high/

I guess I'm just bitter. For 6k I could have bought my dream car in running project condition. The short time I had this car I was constantly irritated by all the inconveniences and problems caused by owning a "new" car (it was a 2007, much newer than anything I've ever owned). Everything being tied to electrical and computer systems. Battery draining, annoying beeper when I wasn't buckled, auto safety locks. Some of the things were just poor design cuz it was a goddamn saturn (the battery is in the trunk, which is opened remotely by the keys which is useless with a dead battery, but can be opened manually with the keys, except the keys lock in the ignition upon trying to turn over the engine with a dead battery. You can fold down the rear seats to access the trunk, but to do so you must pull two pins, located inside the trunk.)

I'm sick of cars that might as well run on magic with arbitrary designs and intentionally user-unfriendly. I'm not handy but I want to be but I can't do shit if everything in a car has to do with electronics or computers.

Why shouldn't I buy an oldass car with a good frame and low mileage?

I'm in NY ( not the city) . Cars rust and everyone drives like a cunt. I see old sedans that are around my cars age, but why would I give up my old sedan for some other old sedan? I mostly see cars from 2002 and up. Anyone in anything older than that is an immigrant and poor, maybe a college or high school student. I'm talking normal cars nothing nice like what I'd look for.

I'm sure people outside this shithole state find old cars, but when you live in the North East of the US…good luck. I've seen trucks that are 7 years old rusted out. It's all the salt. Even worst up north.

While not being "old" I've been looking at the last gen GTO/Monaro and I liked them when they came out and I like them now.

does it fall under "lol American." or are they worth a look? People seem to want a lot for them for a 10-11 year old car and assuming I did get one is would it be hard to get a Monaro front for it? Would that be faggy to do?

You think my garbage can has it easy? I often drive on dirt roads, winter lasts from october to march, and wheel arches often get hit with storms of sand/rock from driving on those dirt roads at 100km/h. Baltics have to learn rallydriving not in schools, but on the road. Such is life here.

So i just assume Burgerland manufacturers just gave up rust protection after 95'?

Btw, the secret to rust prevention is adding some acid to paint. So the metal reacts to the acid, thus forming strong and stable chamical bonds, rather than air, which just makes some weak-ass oxide known as rust.

I know there are paint shops here that offer such a thing and it actualy works. Can easily give any car +10 years of life.

The paint on my 94 Grand Prix is still in amazing shape. They used metallic paint and it aged well. I wish I could say the same for the shit hard plastics inside. The bumpers have a little sun rot, but it's only on the folds.

I'd take a photo, but my cars in the shop. Some prick rear ended me a few weeks ago. I was shocked that my car was hardly dented at all. It moved the trunk up half an inch.

The bumper was fine, the lights were fine and trunk shuts. The rental I have is a real bitch. I knew the pillars of modern cars were bad, but I had no idea how bad it really was. So many blind spots. I fucking hate it.

Mountainous areas have plenty of decent windies, but a lot of times they are not maintained so there are potholes and shit everywhere. There are places though where the roads just go straight for hundreds of miles. I'm lucky to live in the Western part where there are more mountains.

I know aerodynamics might seem like witchcraft but it really isn't that hard to understand. Embed related, this guy makes it understandable.

Anyway, aerodynamic down force in an enthusiast car will always be negligible compared to the inertial forces unless you have a very, very light car (750kg and down) with a lot of power going very fast. Those stock wings you have on saloon cars, sports cars and what not?

They're Orson Welles tier of not doing anything.

Back just in time to be ruined by disgusting high belt lines and have all the HP soaked up by feature bloat. I wonder how long before the Mustang, Camaro, and Charger/Challenger are reduced to a shit choice between FWD and "AWD" consisting of a rear drive tacked onto the FWD model. And how long before the Camaro's windshield/windows disappear entirely into the body.

Just bought a 1983 Camaro Z28, previous owner swapped out the stock 305 V8 with a 350 SBC bored out 0.020. With an Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley DP 750 CFM carb, and short pipe headers coupled with an Eaton 3.73 posi in the rear end, she goes. I think the third gen cars are really underrated as far as cheap platforms go for "pony cars". Looking at the new Dodge Challenger, Chevy Camaro, and Ford Mustang, its hard to imagine how much HP they're able to put out nowadays from factory cars.
