Norway has banned life sentences, and one inmate at the Halden facility is serving 15 years for committing murder. In a 2019 interview, Fredrik opened up about his time at the prison and his accomplishments since starting his sentence. He is currently publishing a prison cookbook, received a diploma in graphic design, aced multiple exams, currently studying physics and hopes to pursue higher education once his sentence reaches completion.
At another facility, prisoners spoke of the impact educational programs had on their mental health and hopes for the future. They admitted they had felt a sense of hopelessness because they believed the only real skill they held was selling drugs. However, after taking several courses, they felt accomplished and realized they could master different, proactive skills. Now, through their time in prison, they gained valuable life skills that can assist them in gaining legal jobs that will ensure they do not land back in prison.

In a research paper published in 2019, the authors focused specifically on the impact of prisoners on the economy. The paper highlighted Norwegian ideologies and the results of their unique prison system. First, reducing the population of prisoners that are reincarcerated means more individuals are able to contribute to Norway’s economy once their sentence is complete. Second, among the prison population that was unemployed prior to being arrested, there was a 34% increase in this group partaking in job training courses and a 40% increase in employment rates. Lastly, Norway’s prison system equips its prisoners with education-based knowledge and labor skills that have long-term benefits to its country’s economy and also improves their personal lives.

Gdybym miał zostać klawiszem to WYŁĄCZNIE w skandynawskim/fińskim modelu penitencjarnym. A wiesz czemu? Bo powstał dla dobrobytu KLAWISZY a więźniów w drugiej kolejności. Klawisze przestali umierać na powikłania alkoholizmu i nadciśnienia a więźniowie mają godne warunki i niską recydywę. Jeden chodzi do roboty a drugi mieszka w więzieniu i sobie żyją spokojnie, tak trzeba robić. Znęcanie się nad ludźmi jak w krajach III świata m.in Rosja i USA nie prowadzi do niczego dobrego poza satysfakcją kilku konserwatystów TYCH NA WOLNOŚCI którzy wolą mieszkać w dzielnicy nędzy i czuć moralną wyższość niż przyznać, że przemysł penitencjarny im bezpośrednio szkodzi na wiele sposobów.

PS nawet w bardzo dobrych więzieniach w krajach rozwiniętych więźniom się nudzi, sami proszą o możliwość pracy i edukacji. Za siedzenie w celi i bicie konia nie dostają przywilejów. Nie trzeba nakazów administracyjnych, nie trzeba łagrów, nie trzeba bicia. Patologie systemu penitencjarnego rozwiązano ustawą. Opłaca im się uczyć i pracować, z korzyścią dla wszystkich.

Powoli zaczynasz się przyzwyczajać, dostosowywać się do trybu więziennego, jedyne co cię trzyma przy życiu to wizyty matki oraz członków rodziny oraz wieści z zewnątrz.
Żyjesz sobie tak z dnia na dzień odliczasz każdą wizytę a potem powrót do życia codziennego, lata lecą aż nastaje rok 2018 no i dostajesz zwolnienie warunkowe, zaczynasz żyć pomału, wyszedłeś z więzienia i wróciłeś do rodziny, ale to więzienie dalej jest w tobie i twojej głowie, nie potrafisz się od niego uwolnić, dalej cię ciągają po sądach, koszmar niby się skończył ale dalej nie czujesz się wolny potem uniewinnienie, i walka o odszkodowanie czyli kolejne 3 lata w sądach. no i wreszcie mamy 2021 dostałeś odszkodowanie 13 mln, które wkładasz na konto i żyjesz z niego bo nie wiesz jak to wydać, nie umiesz żyć normalnie cieszyć się życiem, to więzienie mimo że dalej jest w tobie choć ty już w nim nie jesteś, teraz czeka cię długa paroletnia terapia i dochodzenie do siebie, prawdopodobnie renta do końca życia, bo już pracować nie masz sił. a świadomość że twoi kaci nie zostali ukarani przez system cię dobija. że można komuś zniszczyć życie systemowo i nie odpowiedzieć za to identyczną karą.

8 lutego 2021 r. Tomasz Komenda wygrał wielomilionowe odszkodowanie za niesprawiedliwy wyrok;
Komenda został skazany na 25 lat więzienia za gwałt i zabójstwo, których nie popełnił; być cwelony przez 18 lat;
W 2000 r. w głośną sprawę włączył się minister sprawiedliwości i prokurator generalny w jednym: Lech Kaczyński.
"Przykład z Wrocławia. Brutalnie zgwałcono, a później zamordowano piętnastoletnią dziewczynkę, właściwie jeszcze dziecko (…). Są ślady zębów tego zbira, ślady DNA, wszelkie możliwe znaki – i nie można postawić zarzutu" – zżymał się Lech Kaczyński.
"Zbir" – Tomasz Komenda – siedział wtedy w areszcie, a minister sprawiedliwości się niecierpliwił. Lech Kaczyński nie poprzestał na wywieraniu presji medialnej na prokuraturę. Postawił śledczych przed nieformalnym wyborem: albo będą mu posłuszni i szybko się wykażą, albo polecą głowy. Cenę – 18 lat cwelenia – zapłacił Tomasz Komenda.
Tymczasem funkcjonariusze organów ścigania mieli ręce pełne roboty – bili i na inne sposoby torturowali Tomasza Komendę, by przyznał się do zbrodni, której nie popełnił. Grozili też świadkom, których zeznania dowodziły jego niewinności. Udało im się – przemocą i szantażem doprowadzili do tego, że Tomasz Komenda wziął winę na siebie. A potem był cwelony w więzieniu 18 z 25 zasądzonych lat.
