It's the matchmaking, really the same issue with TF2, though Counterstrike arguably has it rougher as the base game of counterstrike is far quicker to stagnate than tf2.
Completely depersonalizes the experience and shits up the player environment since rank chasing takes more priority over actually having fun. Certainly doesn't help that the core game is all kinds of fucked with shit like the retarded spread making most of the weapons fundamentally unsatisfying to use but people tolerate and engage in apologetics for MUH COMPETITIVENESS MUH ESPORT.

Mostly because you need a good PC for it.
On my mid-range laptop, even with the lowest settings, it can't surpass 15 FPS on most maps (and it impacts the gameplay greatly, ironic considering the Source Engine is well-optimised with most games).
That's why I still stick with CS:S.

TF2 is an unbalanced clusterfuck of a game now full of hackers and half the shit is broken. It's so bad there's 2-3 different communities trying to create their own TF2 game.
Everytime I look at CS:GO it has a ton of retarded updates. Either a bunch of pistols in the game could 1-shot kill a headshot, a revolver that 1 shot on a bodyshot and one of the heavy machineguns costing ~2000 with 0 recoil. They even retroactively fucked up CS:S after years of not touching it before they launched CS:GO.
Dota is a real damn shame though. You can see the mod roots are there and it was genuinely fun to dick around with the overpowered spells. Then they went ahead and neutered all the strong spells while adding fucking retarded skill tree gimmicks and other padding.
I think L4D & L4D2 are the only games safe from their poison but that game was pretty mediocre to begin with.

The hayday of CS:S is over. Even before CS:GO came out 99% of the servers were Dust 2, office or surf. There were 2 or so servers that had a random map rotation and it was a rule to play somewhat like a team (I.E. if the whole teams going to the bombsite A, you better not go to B and die by yourself). However, I think those servers are dead now.

The cleaners carbine is worthless, the classic is worthless, jarate is pretty much the best secondary that outshines all snipers other ones
The wrangler gives level 3s somewhere around 700 HP and minis 300 HP (also minis are absolute fucking cancer to play with), which can be rehealed in 2 wrench hits
There's tons of shit like this in the game. It's a fucking mess. Maybe you can try arguing these because they're subjective but you're fucking wrong. Everyone agrees that these things are unbalanced as fuck. High tier competitive players and youtube pub stompers alike. Yeah you can dick around with secondaries that isn't Jarate and Mad Milk and still do well but that's true for almost any unbalanced game.
The idea that people defend the shitty state of this game blows my mind and I wonder if it's like a mini-feud between nu-TF2 fans and the vintage ones, and everyone in between has to deal with the fallout from this shitshow. At least the TF2 re-balance mod exists.

I didn't quit till 7.00. I wanted to quit after reborn but there was still always something there that could be played around with and I was addicted. 7.00 was just so abhorrently terrible that I was able to break free. The game was just too watered down. Valve opted to add bloated half-baked ideas to the game, they removed all the teeth the cool spells had (like Rubick cliffing people), they added shitty comeback mechanics and they made tanky heroes the meta. Last time I checked they added random item drops to the jungle like in WC3, which is beyond fucking retarded. There are even retards who still defend that turd just like there are people who defend valves other retarded shit. Valve-drones are pure cancer honestly.

You need to work on your reading comprehension. I never said it was random. There are so many patterns in the game it's very hard to learn all of them. You only know a general pattern, but it's not always the same. I don't know the exact amount, but I think most weapons have 16 different patterns. That's why people tapped (or shot in bursts) more often in cs 1.6. On top of that recoil recovery is higher in cs:go too, that's also why people spray more often

The Left 4 Dead games are hidden gems. There is not a lot of video evidence of this because l4d is mostly played by people who own potato computers, but there is a lot of depth to these games. There are lot's of instant kill combos and tricks you can learn.
Generally speaking Valve is the only option you got if you are into competitive multiplayer games. Valve has ruined all of their games, but these ruined games are still better than what other companies have to offer.
