The first time I played a game was in 1981 or so, Tempest coin op. Not that I really knew the details of how to play well, but it was amazing. Soon after, my parents bought an Atari VCS that they barely let me touch.

First Nintendo game I ever played was a rom of Kirby's Adventure someone had converted into Flash, it was ancient shit. I didn't get any kind console until a couple years later, so I mostly gamed on PC (said PC still works, good for playing old windows game without the need for DOSBOX.)
It either didn't save or I didn't know how to make it save, but I was able to go through all of it until stage one of the Nightmare battle, which along with stage 2 is really the only difficult part of the game. After a couple tries at Nightmare I'd get tired and give up, didn't end up beating him until a couple years ago when I finally bothered to play through it all again.

The very first game I saw was rc pro am or a similar racing game. My father actually knew some of the people importing the PS1 to my country, so me and my brother was some of the first kids to have a PS1. So, battle arena toshinden was the first game I played.

Toy Story on Genesis was one of my first video games and I would always get stuck on the RC level. Had Sonic 1 and 2 as well and beat the fuck out of those because they didn't control like shit, unlike the RC level in Toy Story.

I have a couple dozen INTV games, many in the boxes, as well as the Intellivoice module, and BEAH SEVUHNTAYN BAWMURRR, yet I have never lad hands on an Intellivision. Reseller faggots always want a mint for them. One of the few systems I still don't have.

Growing up in a country behind the times I can't remember if the first game I played was Duck Hunt (NES), Adventure Island (NES), Mortal Kombat (Sega Mega Drive), Counter Strike, or Serious Sam.

The first games I remember playing were edutainment games, but I can't remember most of them. The one that I do remember is the PC game made to promote Busy Town, a kids show about talking animals that… live in a town and that's about it really.
The first "real" game I played was Doom. My parents do not give a fuck about violence in video games. My dad grew up in the ghetto and my mom is German (they read their kids Brothers Grimm fairy tales so violence for kids is a thing, ironically amongst the rural Germans, despite the fags who ban blood in games pretending it isn't).

1979 wasn't 50 years ago, and you don't have to be 11 years old to play coin-ops.

No shit, but I think it's highly unlikely that he played the game when he was 0 years old.

I originally got into vidya by watching my father play the Gabriel Knight adventures. The first game I played by myself was either Commander Keen or Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure.
I remember getting stuck on Kirby 64 because I could not for the life of me find the one effect combo I needed for the last crystal and the true endboss.

Pic related, on my dad's computer.
>Ever got stuck in a gaem?
Pic related again, because I was a retarded tyke, probably 4-6 years old at the time. Eventually dad let me play DOOM with invulnerability turned on, which was a lot easier for my two braincells to process.

My earliest gaming times were spent playing Spyro, Crash Bandicoot and Rayman with my mom. Often times I would have to help her beat the levels. Even with the strategy guide I don't think we ever 100% Spyro. I went back a few years ago and 120% it just for the sake of it.
I never liked fighting games back then and grew to love shooters. Then the genre became a shithole and I'm growing to love fighting games.

I've only played Dark Souls to completion but when I got it, I played the fuck out of it and really enjoyed it. Dark Souls 2 was pure ass and I gave up on it kinda quick. Haven't played any others. I played a little bit of Nioh and was enjoying it, then I put it down for a while and was confused as fuck when I came back.
Simple hack and slash games are pretty fun if they get my attention. I found pic-related at a retro shop and enjoyed the hell out of it. It has probably the biggest draw-distance and levels for a Dreamcast game (though the framerate can be kind of ass), a cool combo system that gives different moves, a really neat progression system at the end of levels and some cheesy as fuck dialogue that knows how to have fun with itself. The later levels are kind of empty and I read it was because the publishers were trying to fuck the devs and they needed to get it out the door.
They also made some interesting PC hack n slash with an arm-controlling gimmick but that shit is nigh impossible to get it to not feel jank as fuck.
