What is your favourite nippon ichi game? Personally I like Phantom brave, in my mind it has the best story, music, setting and customization. Too bad disgaea is all they ever do nowadays. I did try the translated PSP version of la pucelle and makai kingdom, though neither of them did really grab me.

Last I heard they put microtransactions into Disgaea 4 complete+ in a patch and pissed off the fanbase. Don't think we'll be seeing any more Disgaea ports.

Hard to pinpoint a favorite NIS game personally. I liked very much all the Disagea games, Phantom Brave, La Pucelle, Prinny, Zettai Hero Kaizou Keikaku (Z.H.P.), Coven and the Labyrinth of Refrain and Yomawari. Nippon ichi Software has also a visual novel department which is hardly discussed sadly because they're all japanese-only, such as (Shin)Hayarigami or the defunct-FOG titles like Fuuraiki and Missing Parts The Tantei Stories.
The fact all those games were available on the Vita also greatly helped me to discover and appreciate them.

I can at least vouch Disgaea 1 seems to have a correct translation but that was originally done by Atlus USA during the PS2 days.

Makai Kingdom is my overall favourite, though I havn't played it since release. My opinion might be quite different playing it today.
Phantom Brave was pretty good also though, and the Prinny games were fun for what they were.
As far as Disgaea goes though the only one I really disliked was 3 and I don't even really know what turns me off of it. Though the dlc horseshit they pulled didn't help any.

Zettai Hero Project: Unlosing Ranger VS DarkDeath Evilman
That game will always have a special place in my heart. Specially the mechanic where the hero theme of your character changes depending on what armor pieces you have equipped.

That's a considered a low point in Disgaea for a lot of reasons but I happen to like a lot of the classes unique to it. I think its fine myself but apparently the postgame is a bit lacking? I was never really into the postgame shit myself. The item world's infinite dungeons are something I unironically enjoy.
