Moves have intrinsic damages that are modified by character stats. Picking character appropriate moves is always superior to some generic belt attempt and generally gets good results anyway.

Always remember that the Affinities you see in each Move referes to how much oxygen it's gonna take from your body, and nothing else. More or less affinity depends on the fighting style, and the amount of air varies by your choice.
About the damage, every move has a base damage which gets more or less augmented only by your stats, one primary and one secondary.
