So I decided to play NuDoom Eternal via Seven Seas to see if it was worse then NuDoom 2016 and what I got instead was fucking Darksiders the FPS. When I first heard this from some Anon a day or so after launch I thought he was full of it, but after playing it half way through

>Dashes felt like War's in Darksiders 1

>It had areas similar to theme and atmosphere of dungeons of Darksiders 1-2

>Much of the relics felt like the leveling system in Darksiders 1

>Same with how weapon upgrades felt too

>Glory kills if you really think about it felt like the execution kills in the Darksiders games

>Puzzles solving and platforming is much like Darksiders

>Tracking down the priests and the progression of it was much like like finding the hearts of the chosen for Samael

Did ID decide to rip off Darksiders? It's weird because much like NuDoom 2016 it's not really a Doom game but when you ignore the Doom aspect You might have some fun like I did I'm unsure if this game basically being a Darksiders game in FPS form is a bad thing or not.

I played it, it was alright. Fucking hated the Marauders, though.

Didn't really feel like a Doom game, though. Really don't like the constantly low ammo and lack of health packs.

From I heard, nothing about Eternal was actually pleasing. Aside from ripping off Darksiders, you also have a plot that rips off elements from Halo and Bioshock and Dead Space, a final boss ripped from F.3.A.R., and some extremely misguided attempt to make Bethesda's Doom be a follow up to "the arena shooters of old" without actually understanding what the Hell that means.

I've for the most part completely bypassed NuDoom and NuDoom Eternal because at this point I just automatically assume any game anyone makes in this day and age will be fucking garbage. I just watched a bit of gameplay footage earlier because I thought the Icon of Sin's new design looked interesting, it was at least a step up from shooting rockets at a wall.

I love how NuDoom Eternal has successfully managed to piss off everyone, /v/ hated it from the get-go because it's NuDoom and most of /v/ is incapable of properly critiquing a game and view both NuDoom games only through the lens of the original two Doom games and 64, and thus were unable to see the merits and qualities of both games and normalfags who played NuDoom 2016 hate it because it plays differently from and is significantly more challenging and well-designed than 2016.

Some people will say I have lower standards, I say that no one ITT is able to judge a game objectively on its own and in fact are blinded by their own cynicism, which is understandable given the current state of the industry. Also there is no such thing as "oh it's a good game, it's just not a good Doom game" or anything else like that. If it's a good game, and it has the name of the series on the box, it is a good game that is part of that series. Thus, Eternal is a good Doom game.

SgtMarkIV put reloading in Doom. Neither of the NuDoom games have reloading in them.

First of all, it's not Doom. That much is obvious. but I have to drive this point home. Levels aren't designed around backtracking, you aren't meant to explore, at least not until you get to the exit and fast travel becomes available. Every time you see something hidden or slightly out of your way, ignore it, do not try to get it right away because these "secrets" will be shoved in your face a couple of minutes later after you've triggered all those lovely lovely scripts. The most fun I had in this game was on the Phobos base, a level section with no collectibles and almost every weapon/ability unlocked. Everything up to that point was a tedium.

Speaking of weapons and abilities, this is Skinner Box Prime. You all heard about the battle passes and all that shit, right? Cosmetics. But the game itself is littered with tiny incremental upgrades that make you want to see what you can upgrade next. It's like playing Minecraft or something.

You get a shotgun which doubles as a grenade launcher and an autoshotgun,

an assault rifle which is also a sniper rifle and a microrocket launcher,

plasma rifle which can be used as crowd control or single target DPS ammo muncher,

same with the minigun but you trade CC for a rainhardt shield which can still be used for CC, so one of these is redundant,

same rocket launcher as in 2016 but very slow and with the same upgrades,

a not-railgun which takes way too long to charge an either launch an exploding bolt or a fuckhuge horizontal energy blade which WILL get you killed or at least killed for standing still like a jackass,

a supershotty with a chain, which is a bit hit and miss, but good at getting 40 armor fast and losing 60 because you got so close to the mancubus and it didn't stagger like it usually does,

and the BFG, but I would sooner call it an ability than a weapon.

Every one of these weapons has 2 mods (with exception of supershotty which has 1 and BFG which has none), each of these mods can be upgraded twice with weapon points you get for killing a all demons in a level and completing challenges, and when you unlock all the upgrades for a weapon you are presented with a challenge to earn a mastery upgrade for that mod (for example, to make your supershotty set demons on fire when you launch your chainhook, you need to kill like 40 of them with that chainpull combo). These can be bypassed with the use of mastery tokens which you won't see until the penultimate level.

The first one already had dashing and was much better.

The issue with NuDoom is the speed, the speed you get with the Haste powerup should be the default speed.

Outside enemies getting confused, which should be an easy fix, when you play the game with the Haste powerup cheat, it all feels right, you actually feel as powerful as the game wants you to believe.

NuDoom is like God of War (no not the Soystation 4 reebot), plain safe mediocrity.

I haven't played Doom Eternal but if you say it's like NuDoom but more challenging and with better levels. Maybe i'll like it since NuDoom wasn't bad. It felt more like serious sam with a little bit of key hunting, but i don't mind that. My problem is that it was too repetitive. Did they fix that? And i don't mean glory kills, I mean Is the spawning pattern of enemies different each time they appear?

Though i gotta say the fucking OST is absolute garbage. The worst shit i ever heard.

Your abilities are also unlocked incrementally, and these are also upgraded incrementally through runes and praetorian suit tokens and flipping tricks in a dark alley. These can be either completely useless (automap) or vital to your survival on higher difficulties (exploding barrels in the environment can now drop ammo and respawn once after being blown up). Which brings me to one of my main gripes with this game:

The ammo economy

I thought it was bad in nudoom 2016 where you started out with only 20 shells, but holy fuck, Bethesda can always surprise you with their knack for pissing me off. You start with 16 shells and only when full upgraded can you finally carry all 24 glorious shells. That's all you get. So, of course, you are forced to conserve ammo and, more importantly, switch weapons around. I tell you, it really is a god damned nightmare to play on Nightmare in the beginning of the game. All you have is a shotgun and a chainsaw (which magically refills its own gas supply by one pip when you run out). Forget about melee, punching either makes the enemy flinch a bit or ignore it completely and take off a third of your health. And the chainsaw, while it does turn enemies into ammo pinyatas, does NOT refill your ammo supply beyond a certain point (50%, I think) NOT EVEN IF YOU CHAINSAW TWO ENEMIES ONE AFTER THE OTHER. You also can't damage larger demons (which uses up all your fuel, btw) unless they're already near death. Doomguy with just slowly swing the chainsaw in front of him, HUD letting you know there is no target despite the fact that a demon is literally punching you in the face at that very moment.

Anyway, you're forced to switch out between weapons to conserve ammo, but when the weapon mod mastery challenges are unlocked, you're closed in even more with your choice.

>Want to use the Plasma rifle on that Hell Knight flying towards you? Sure, you can do that, but then you won't have enough ammo to shoot the Cacodemon with a charged railgun shot. Oh, you did? Good boy, now do that 29 more times and we'll see if it was all worth it.

>Wasting all those shells on a Pinkie is quite annoying isn't it? But when you master it, you'll get all that wasted ammo back, see? It all works out! And if you really don't want to bother yourself with all that, you can just use a Mastery token. Oh, you don't have one? You'll get it soon. I promise.

There are no "workhorse" weapons. There are no strategies. You haul your ass across an arena, setting everything you can on fire so you can pick up the armor shards on your second lap, chew through ammo and life trying to complete a mod mastery challenge, chainsaw a zombie because you can't tell when a bigger demon is damaged enough for a chainsaw kill, because if you're wrong you'll get your shit kicked in, mash the abilities hotkeys waiting for cooldowns to reset and then die to some shit you couldn't see because the screen is so damn busy.

Speaking of which, I've been playing both Eternal and Darksiders Genesis and I'd like more "biblical fantasy" games. Playing some divinely powered death machine fucking up demons is a nice aesthetic.

Also as a side note I find it kind of funny how playing War in Genesis is more fun than in his game, mainly because of the enchantments system and switching around is quite fun, especially with the tactical nuke option(Deathtouch).

A few parts of it feel like doom, especially when you attempt to opt out of glory kills and chainsaw and realize a lot of the monsters die to the same amount of shots as the original games like the revenants in two super shotgun shots, but a lot of it does not. Not a bad thing but still.

Level design

Pretty much the same as 2016, you can't backtrack all the way, can't explore freely unless you've completed that level, climbing feels janky as all hell. At the start of almost every level you are presented with 3 challenges, like performing a specific glory kill or finding all the data logs. Completing all 3 will yield a battery, which you can use back at the doom manchild cave to watch a very pretty little unskippable cutscene. And if you bring another battery to that same spot and watch that unskippable cutscene again, you'll get a weapon mod/suit token/upgrade crystal/cosmetic suit for Doomguy. If you go out of your way to find a specifically marked slayer gate (challenge arena) you'll have to find a key to unlock it. This is a very difficult task, which may or may not include turning your head 40° to the side and seeing that key right fucking there. Completing all 6 of these will unlock the Unmaker, the demon laser gun from Doom64. I didn't bother with the last 2 because if you finish a level without completing all the challenges, you can go back and redo the level. The whole fucking level. Switches and puzzles you know the answer to included. And you can't save mid-level when replaying them, no no no, you gotta re-do it all in one go. Oh you ran out of ammo and health items and there are no demons left? Too bad, gonna have to replay it from the start.

While there are health and ammo pickups scattered across the level, it's not nearly enough to deal with all the enemies. It's an illusion of good level design. You're always, ALWAYS forced to use your abilities since they're only limited by a cooldown timer. You can't even fucking melee, you have to wait either for a chainsaw to refuel itself or your shoulder-mounted grenade launcher to recharge.

Some locales look pretty nice and have clearly taken inspiration/are a callback to classic game covers, but all I could think at that moment was "Damn, what a waste of talent and effort".

Sound design

Fuck I hate Mick Gordon's work on this. I don't know what else the man worked on, but it's all just toilet sounds. I absolutely hate how loud and noisy everything is, you can't tell one demon from another because they're all stacking on top of each other like in 2016. With the exception of one ungodly misfit I hate with a passion: Pinkie. These fucks are so damn loud they overpower every other sound in the game, so enjoy hearing a gigantic goose vomit in your ears when they charge you. The one thing that's improved about these failed abortions since 2016 is that you can jump over them.

The music is plain awful, so I did what any sensible man would do - put on something else. I put on Andrew Hulshult's IDKFA album and all that did was point out how little Doom there is in nuDoom. Not only did it not fit for most of the level, I had to pause it to hear expositional monologues.

Which brings us to lore…

Seeing it on Twitter, Doom Eternal being called the "Devil May Cry of Shooting games" I have to agree with that statement but not for the reasons these people would think.

The Same thing has happened to Doom as has happened to DMC. What both series have become now is completely different then how they were in in their inception.

DMC1 was a game about smart tactics actually being like a Devil Hunter, and learning the weakness of each demon you face so you could take them out efficiently, it was a story about a Son living up to and succeeding his fathers legacy.

Then along the way it just turned into a game about SSS-COMBOS, use tons of weapons at the same time never let the punching bag enemy hit the ground just keep combing, Dante also acts just as stupid, reckless, and irresponsible as 40 year old that he did as an 18 years old, that time line wise his DMC1 self doesn't make any sense. but that's fine He doesn't need to act like an adult he has fun anime super powers.

Doom when from a game about exploring a map, gaining resources and managing them smartly, knowing when to pick your battles, and how do deal with groups of enemies by using the right tool for the job depending on your location and what your up against, with a protagonist that the player was meant to embody, the game simply told you the atmosphere and your goal, the rest was what they player made of it.

Now Doom is a game about just excess, just keep throwing things at the player, you have to keep giving them new things, keep flashing things on screen, don't make the player ever have to look for health, ammo, or armor that slows things down just have them hit those things out of an enemy like a pinata, and the Doomslayer's character is the super hardcore badass that all of hell fears because he's a badass.

The thing here is These changes don't really mater to people, IF they like the way things changed.

the vast majority of people like DMC3, 4, and 5 Dante. I like that Dante, but I still am a bit disappointed that the Original DMC1 Dante isn't the protagonist of the series anymore, that after DMC3 the series just isn't like DMC1 anymore, and never will be again.

But you can't say those things out loud otherwise "your just caught up in nostalgia googles and you can see how much better everything clearly is now because your so blinded by nostalgia"

NuDoom is the same, on it's own i'm sure it's a decent game. but it fucking sucks that there just can't be a new game Called Doom that actually is like Classic Doom.

Story

holy fuck

A major bulk of the story can be ignored. Your lore is served to you via data entries you find around levels, fighting a new demon for the first time, exposition from Cortana VEGA and Samuel Hyde, listening to human resistance broadcasts after each level and in one city level 3-4 audio logs like >>16893192 mentioned. No human ever uses the word "demon", they all use "mortally" challenged. Now this was funny as a one liner in the reveal trailer, but to hear a politically correct term for a demon used by the barely surviving scraps of humanity left on Earth is … I don't know what it is, honestly. Am I so cynical that I'm missing the humor of the entire juxtaposition of this situation? Is the joke supposed to be people talking about this game in the future and saying "Dude, remember how the last few human survivors were fighting off demons, but still called the "mortally challenged"? LOL what and upboat moment that was!"? Are they virtue signalling to the right, saying how ridiculous this PC shit is? Or are they virtue signalling to the left as and are being 100% straight about using PC language? WHY THE FUCK AM I TALKING ABOUT POLITICS IN A DOOM GAME?! MAYBE BECAUSE IT ISN'T A DOOM GAME!!!

Anyway, I was mostly interested in Samuel Hayden's story since he was the only fun part for me in nuDoom2016, but you only get a couple of data entries which don't explain much. Same problem persists throughout all the lore data entries. You might play the game and ignore all that bullcrap as if it were a Doom game, but you'd natural be curious as to how and why we are where we are in this game.

How did the Doomguy get a space fortress?

Did Hayden solve the energy crisis?

How did demons appear on Earth?

Why did UAC cooperate with Hell so much if Hayden was still in control?

Why is this guy wearing an armor similar to mine?

Is this Doomguy human or what?

If he was captured by Hell for god knows how long before humans discovered Argent energy/Hell, why does he know how to use future human weaponry and his suit integrates with future tech and has both space runes and English elements in its HUD?

All of these questions and more were not answered after I read through all of the data entries.

So from what I've gathered, we have these really early firstborn or whatever angels which go around and spread the good word of the Lord (not THE Lord, I guess, but it's not cleared up either) throughout space and/or dimension. They run into a race of Nephylim on a planet that was raped by a giant metal shuriken, which released Wraiths, super mega dragons with so much energy that they wake up the dead titans resting on that planet. They said these titans immediately started teamkilling each other, but didn't mention whether or not they actually killed anybody or where they are or where they fucked off to if they did. Just that they were awakened by these flying lizards. They woke up a lot of shit, but mainly they attracted the Chozo angels, and since these christian Protoss are a generous an wise old bunch, they stick around and help the not-humans with evolution and arts-and-crafts and shit. In fact they're so nice and humanitarian, they bring them along for a holy crusade or two. Life was good.

Then Doomguy appears and mumbles the meme words, warning the Sentinels and Angels about Hell, so they throw his ass in the Colosseum and investigate Hell. They get their hands full, manage to control the entryway for a little while and the main angel, Kahn Makyr (foreshadowing 101), takes interest in the argent energy. There was some bullshit about a prophecy and corruption, but it was so poorly written I barely understood it. Doomguy is accepted into the Sentinel culture, doesn't talk, just wants to kill demons. So the elite sentinel warriors tag him along for a fun expedition into Hell and see how good he is at kill demons. Then a hell titan attacks Sentinel homeworld and one of the sentinel priests takes Doomguy into a machine that can see the future, but doesn't actually tell it, it just predicts every possible outcome and … that's it. But anyway Doomguy is shoved into the machine and is now stronger and faster than ever and can now single handedly kill the demon titan and is now hailed as the Doom Slayer.

The main angel likes the argent energy so much she makes a fucking torture factory to extract souls in Hell and sends in sentinels from time to time. She betrays the sentinel race, sacrifices most of them, traps Doomguy and his squad in Hell and then moves on to other worlds and eventually comes to Earth, I guess.

I have to point out that all the data entries are written very poorly. Long sentences (longer than mine), translated ancient texts sound like a high school essay, in fact all of them feel like someone wrote a bare-bones story and then tried using a thesaurus, but didn't pay for the full version, so you end up with obtuse texts lacking any grace or even a single allegory. Instead, most texts contain at least one reference to an old shooter or the guts meme.

Fuck, my fingers hurt.

Broken, partially my fault for ignoring the tutorials, but can you blame me for skipping tutorials halfway into the game? You're supposed to keep him in mid range and NOT engage and instead wait for him to attack and then counter with either a supershotgun or railgun. Rocket will inflict self damage, shotgun isn't strong enough and automatic weapons don't stagger him. This stuns him for one more subsequent hit, but ONLY from the weapon you're currently holing and ONLY a regular shot can be taken, any switching or charging a mod will take too long and make you miss that window of opportunity. But the fucker is so bugged and requires you to be so precise with your execution that he ate through all 9 extra lives I had accumulated in the previous level I perfected. All the wind was completely taken out of my sails and ruined my day.

The last one I walked into was part of a 3 phase arena where you'd get a regular assortment of demons in the 1st phase, Archvile encounter in the 2nd and Marauder in 3rd. You're supposed to dodge his energy slashes, but you have to wait until it's already in your face until dodging, otherwise he'll just hit you just after you dodged. It's all so loose and finicky and rage inducing.

You get like 5 dedicated ammo drops for this thing, so you're basically allowed 8 shots in the entire game. Fucking ridiculous.

Like I said, it's way too busy. Low health and Low ammo warning appear on basically the same spot, so it's really difficult to tell what you're low on while dodging shit. Switching to a different color layout only made reading ability cooldowns more difficult because they're not color coded anymore.

>Art direction

I fucking hate how zombies and mancubi have these dopey pixar eyes, I hate how you hear a POP every time you score a headshot with the assault rifle, I hate how you take chunks out of a demon and still can't tell how much you've damaged him. Especially with the high-end demons you rarely meet like Hell Barons and Pain Elementals. It's like the Bloody Mess perk in Fallout games, but imagine if it was applied with every shot you took, not just upon defeat.

What was the point of the blade other than cosmetics? You glory killed demons just as efficiently in 2016 without it. Was it supposed to be the Blood Punch ability, but they scrapped it along the way?

The fact you say that simply shows you don't understand my point.

I'm not saying that DMC1 is better then DMC3,4, or 5 just that Those games aren't going for what DMC1 was going for.

It's not the same kind of game. DMC1 is not a game about combos, it's a game about learning to use the right tool/ability for the job against an enemy, as punctuated by the fact Critical attacks that can insta kill enemies are recorded in the enemy files once a player performs them for the first time.

DMC3, 4, and, 5 clearly don't give a shit what weapon you use against any enemy, since your supposed to use what every you feel like, your supposed to put your own flair on everything you do.

There is a "correct way" to fight enemies in DMC1, there isn't a "correct way" in the other games since it's just "Your way"

One approach isn't better then the other, but they are not the same. DMC3 didn't improve on everything DMC1's did, because it just doesn't do allot of the things DMC1 did, Devil Trigger in DMC1 to me feels better then it is in any other DMC game since it was a resource you had to manage and make use of at the perfect time to maximize the efficiency of your Damage output, it was tactically important to know when you should use DT, the other games it's just the More Damage/Health regen. again DMC3's way of doing things isn't bad, there is nothing wrong with giving the player the freedom to use their abilities how ever they wish. but that's not how DMC1 did things.

and I'm not saying the DMC3,4,5 is of the same quality as NuDoom, only that the change in how the public views their difference is the same. People say DMC1 is too dated, the same way people say Classic Doom is too dated. to justify why they think the new versions are superior.

Not a problem with Doom specifically, but I see a lot of games have all those collectable lore but they don't make their VAs narrator them. They usually make you have to read it yourself. I'm sure it's not that expensive to pay VAs to read so is there any reason they don't? Probably too embarrassing to read side lore that is easily skippable. I remember searching for monster pages in The Suffering just to hear the prisoner narrate his encounters with these creatures. Loved the atmosphere it set. Now I just find lore pages from then to 2020 and I hear no audio. It might as well say "Read This Your-FUCKING-SELF" at the top of the page. Seems kind of lazy in my opinion.

Really now? I could have sworn this game was made with Unity considering how ass the platforming is. It has that same unity capsule default hitbox meaning half the platforming you end up needing to hit the center of the platform because you will end up sliding off the edges.

Combine that with tiny platforms and really precise jumps and the platforming is really the worst part of the game. The rest of the game is pretty neat and it also shares something with Doom Eternal in that you have a big ass hub with lots of collectibles, the difference is that there's a lot of platforming and puzzle challenges towards it.

PROTIP: How to break the Marauder:

1. Use the Rocket Launcher and deliberately miss the shot so you don't trigger the Marauder's blocking animation

2. When the rocket has traveled into position beside or behind the Marauder use MOUSE2 to detonate the rocket with the remote detonation mod

[it's very likely that you need to upgrade the Remote Detonation mod for this to work]

This is quicker than waiting around for the timed bullshit they want you to do. If you try to do it "their way" the additional enemies that spawn in do more to fuck you than the Marauder itself.

Doom eternal's story was complete shit i cant believe someone actually okayed it. It makes doom 2016's story to be a masterpiece in comparison. First off didnt we kill vega in the first game, i know that we made a backup copy of him but still how does he know everything about demons now, same with hayden, suddenly the guy knows everything about demons, maykrs , sentinels and what not. And the sentinels, were they supposed to be aliens? Cause they looked like regular humans to me. The level design and artstyle was all over the place, i especcially disliked the sentinel worlds, only the hell levels were ok. Gameplay was better than in 2016 exept for the marauder and the khan maykr fight.

Eternal's sense of humor relies entirely on three things

Not an original buddy cop setup but they play off each other and other characters so well. And then when a story beat comes where humor would really break the atmosphere, they lay off it.

Hopefully darksiders 4, if it lets you play as Strife, is a cuhrayzee, mobility heavy TPS or FPS that's good enough to make me forget Eternal. It's hard to like a part of a game and dislike a chunk of the rest of it.

The Makyrs really do seem to basically be the "angels" mentioned in 2016 for all practical purposes and their technology is what powered up Doomguy. They have a codex entry saying they've fostered the iconography and the idea of a paradise on a thousand realms much like the Vorlons from Babylon 5 or the Goa'uld from Stargate. Although they were corrupted because they figured out how to make immortality granting super meth by mixing both theirs and demonic energy together, eventually leading them to make a deal with the demon world to build a literal pipeline running between Hell and Not Heaven, and helping the demons invade worlds to harvest souls to keep the supply going. That much the game directly tells you.

The game states there is some sort of clear separation between them and hell, in fact they didnt even know what demons were before doomguy ended up in the sentinels' dimension. And the "they're actually demons" stuff people are saying just comes from the fact that they're all monstrous tentacle looking things under their fancy armor. Since the game also states demons are just twisted and mutated dead mortal husks that had their soul energy drained out through torture, it's unlikely the Markyrs are just another form of demon.

The codex does mention there's some still unseen *real* divine realm even beyond their paradise dimension so it's unknown it the Makyr were exiled from it and then simply created their own fake heaven and started manipulating other worlds for faith resources, or if they're completely unrelated beings.

Basically it turns out he's the super AI "The Father" that the Not Angels were using to run Not Heaven, before it was stolen by some middle management Makyr who disappeared with it for unknown reasons

He will probably be the boss of the next game since Eternal ends with him in control of Doomguy's space castle that's now powered by the stupid artifact from 2016 that apparently is what caused the creation of Ardent energy in the first place.

I've been playing Amid Evil recently and I think this weaponset would fit the sentinels more. And these weapons man, despite all the fancy visual effects going on with Eternal's weapons, I think AE's shit is much more visually appealing, has better sounds, feel better to use(especially the axe when you counter melee enemies charging you) and are more fun to use. This is how you do a fucking melee weapon in an FPS, not a canned animation.

God damn if Eternal were only moddable I'd try and fix it.

I thought there was a codex thing about how the og crucible you get in 2016 was the original artifact the sentinel priests used to figure out to create ardent energy and the basis for all the tech they made after they started blending demon and wrath energy together. It seems to have it's own direct energy generation since it was able to be used as a power battery, while the normal sentinel weapons and Doomguy's crucible have to be refilled after use.

The weren't functionally immortal until they discovered argent energy. Before that, their normal life cycle was that they eventually went into some sort of decay process, so they'd logan's run themselves and have their energy put back into some sort of celestial matrix ran by The father, and then the matrix would eventually pump out new Maykrs to replace them. But then the father disappeared, and without that there was no way to new maykrs. And the head Maykr became even more corrupt because she got to be in charge forever.

Whether the father disappeared before or after they figured out how to make themselves immortal through ardent energy isn't really clear. Which is a shame because, if they willingly chose to reject nature and corrupt themselves, or if they had to do it out of desperation, would change the narrative of them and Hayden considerably.

The writers still probably haven't decided if Hayden is going to be a full on power mad evil manipulator or some well intentioned extremist that really thinks everything he's doing is for the best in the long run even if billions of beings have died in the process.

My guess for the next game will be that it borrows shit from Doom64, and some long lost hell/sentinel/maykr site suddenly activates and there's some being there who discovered a process to resurrect dead demons under his control, and Doom Guy goes there to stop it only to discover that it's Hayden behind it, and it was all trap because now it's time for Hayden to finally put Doomguy out of his misery he's the last thing in Hayden's way preventing him from taking over the universe.

Well I just finished it on Nightmare last night, it was a sweaty fucking task but I don't feel that accomplished, I had fun enough to finish it but I had pretty modest expectations and was still somewhat disappointed, can't tell exactly why yet.

I play a lot of FPSs and I really liked some aspects of 2016 and was hoping they would be able to address some of the issues and refine it, as I found out, yes but mostly no.

Level design

is slightly more linear than 2016 which isn't saying much there is more verticality tho I guess. Secrets and items are always more or less hit a "hidden" switch or go around a corner and smash open a cracked wall. I can count the amount that made me use my brain on one hand. 2016 had slightly more variation and complexity. Not much to say here it's more of the same, there are a greater deal of hazards and both maps and arenas have gotten bigger, some maps are pretty open and can loop back into itself but most are just "wider corridors" if you understand my meaning. From the trailer those activated hazards like blades in the walls and shit looked like poor additions and they were, they're more or less instant win switches, luckily there is only a handful in the first few levels. The platforming was another thing that I was pretty cautious about but in the end it was a decent addition I think. The combat bits between the arenas however is much improved from 2016.

Weapons

and the upgrades felt somewhat less impactful compared to 2016. The new assault rifle sounds really nice but the bullets have travel time the rate of fire is disgustingly low and the the impacts doesn't really match how the gun looks and feels, whereas the 2016 one while somewhat weaker felt really snappy and impactful. As for the rest of the guns they're fine however the upgrades mostly feel pretty weak or strange, for instance "movement speed increased by 15% in power shot mode IE scope mode" and "reload speed for power shot is 20% faster" or "33% reload speed for Super shotgun" and "Hook recharges 25% faster" it just all feels flat. In 2016 these upgrades existed but it felt like there were more power creep upgrades, for instance no more upgrades for bullet penetration. The only gun that penetrates now is the ballista and only if it kills the first target. All in all they're okay but they could've been more creative, it's just not much of an improvement.

Chainsaw

really doesn't do the game any favors, in 2016 it was more a "I've wasted my ammo and desperately need more" or "I just want to use shotgun this encounter" into "It's the source of 75% of my ammo" and the fact that it now takes 3 pips of fuel (which you will never have since you have waste it on fodder all the time) to kill demons that aren't fodder makes it incredibly boring to use since it first of all means you will have to look at the same handful of animations for 5 enemies throughout the whole game and the fact that you often have to pause whatever fight you have to go look for fodder when you run out. Why couldn't you've been able to chainsaw the rest in a downed state or something like that I don't know, they drop the same amount of ammo anyway? The only other animations I ever got to see were the Mancubus and the teleporting pricks. In 2016 anything that wasn't a Baron of hell and the like took only 2 pips so there was at least an option.

Combat

well, they added a lot of verticality, added dash, hook on shotgun, rune for movement speed after a glory kill, rune for engaging glory kills from further away, all this mobility but at the same time they cranked down the movement speed so it feels like you've just shit your pants. It becomes very jarring when you're suddenly back to slogging through your own shit again in contrast to the insane mobility in combat. You're also a dead man if you fuck up and lose the momentum in combat. I think bunny jumping is a more engaging way of high speed movement. As for the arenas themselves they're usually pretty good, a lot of room for movement and interesting paths but there are barely any gimmick fights to switch it up so even if there is a lot of variation it starts to feel the same in the end, portals, jump pads and bars for swinging, shoot at them until they die, rinse repeat. And where 2016 felt pretty deliberate in it's encounters and monster composition Eternal just throws shit at you and sprinkles fodder like a spray of diarrhea it really didn't give the impression of thoughtful design it's more of a cluster fuck you desperately wade through until everything is dead. On a positive note there were some actual bossfights this time which was nice.

Plot

was all in all passable, but raises a lot more questions than it answers, after killing the final boss there are still the loose threads of Haydens motivations, what happened to VEGA, who is the lord of darkness, what happens to the other sentinels now, why include the betrayer if he was only going to be in one scene. A lot of that shit, the how and whys of the setting itself were pretty clear to me or felt pretty unimportant, it's the plot of a Doom game who really cares. Presentation and tone was something that bothered me on the other hand, 2016 at least pretended to suspend the disbelief, now every map is littered with funko pop figures and vinyls. In 2016 you rip the weapons from the hands of corpses or something, in this everything is just a hologram floating in the air. In 2016 you were some alien mythical being locked in an infinite battle you could not win or lose, now you're THE jesusman destined to save the universe.

tl;dr

Eternal is an overdesigned game with an inflated budget and gameplay that is all over the place, it barely innovates from 2016 it's just more of everything and the new additions are really not ground breaking. It's mediocre and I'll probably play it again at some point.

Spoken like someone who played ITYTD or is deliberately missing the point. In this game the ammo count is so low that you have to follow a specific checklist of activities in order to win a fight. It's like they tried to turn the fights into WoW dungeon bosses. Coincidentally, like WoW, the game seems to be nothing but a grind until halfway through the game. Even positive reviews I've seen level this criticism, like Civvie's review. It is as if they designed all the levels with you having all of your abilities in mind, then forgot that you don't have all your abilities until a certain point in the game, so you have to follow the exact same strategy over and over to beat basic bitch encounters because you are shackled by the absurdly low ammo count into "farming" zombies (which are completely harmless by the way) for ammo using the chainsaw. It feels like you are a hamster in a treadmill rather than a dude trying to pave his way through demons whatever way he can. There is no frantic moment when you enter a room with a baron and a bunch of imps only to realize you have almost no ammo so you backtrack slightly and find a crate full of rockets which allows you to progress. Instead you just chainsaw a zombie and it's like every other fight from that point onward.

I'v just witnessed my older brother play NuDoom 2016, and it was interesting to see it from a new perspective.

I play older games and Classic FPS All the time, since I simply prefer playing the classics I haven't gotten to yet, then anything new that hasn't really proven itself to the test of time.

My brother on the other hand almost never plays older games, he's always playing the current gen titles, for one reason or another. He has never actually played Doom before in his life. so i was basicly watching someone be introduced to concepts like Armor pickups for the first time. he had to comprehend that he wasn't playing a Aim Down sights shooter, and health management. since the last time he actually played a shooter that hand health packs it was Halo CE, ever since then for him ever shooter has just been The same fucking thing. so he's forgotten what it's like for a game to just not be a cake walk that treats you like a retard and makes sure you can never fuck up.

Mean while I'v been playing Doom and other classic FPS for a long time, so I'm just looking at his gameplay in confusion why he isn't just instantly understanding the concepts of what the game wants him to do, but now I understand since he hasn't actually needed to do half of these things in a game for nearly 20 years.

The interesting thing about Eternal vs 2016 is that when 2016 atleast sounded good on paper. Like I dont remember reading reviews or seeing videos that were trying to praise the game and yet somehow still made it sound like its absolute trash. It was genuine praise, even if I did not always agree with it.

With eternal however even boomer wannabes like civvie cant make it look good. His video on it is almost 50% him taking a shit on the game, not even in a fun way just straight up shitting. The best thing he could say about it was that once you get all your stuff it gets good but that still means that at least half the game is shit by design(if we are being generous).

LET'S GET THIS STRAIGHT, criticizing nuDoom for not being a Doom game DOES NOT MEAN that people "hate" nuDoom. From what I hear, some people do like what nuDoom does, but, then the problem that crops up is:

Why is this a Doom game?

Back when Doom 3 came out back in 2005, people criticized the game for not being Doom. And, rightfully so because it ISN'T Doom. It's System Shock 2 with demons. Now, there's nothing wrong with that idea, in fact I actually liked Doom 3 more than I did the Bioshock series (With the exception of Bioshock 2), but the fact still remains that it isn't Doom. Doom is a first-person twin-stick shooter. Doom 3 is a horror game.

<However, that being said, anyone expecting Doom 3 to be a proper follow-up pretty much had that dream destroyed back in 2002. And, to be fair, it is a "proper follow-up" since, according to Carmack (The guy who original programmed Doom), the original Doom was "suppose" to be a horror game with much of everything being designed around the system limitations of early 90's computers. And, Doom 3 pretty much being the game that Doom was suppose to be.

However, that being said, the public didn't want what the developers "imagined" Doom to be. They wanted Doom to be the game that they played back in 1993, with superb sequels in '94, '96, and '97. THAT is why "/v/ hates nuDoom". Because it isn't a follow-up to the original Doom games, despite the story and Bethesda's advertising. It's just what Bethesda perceives people to want Doom to be. Here's the problem with that claim, Doom is a brand. People go to specific brands because of their reputation for offering a certain service or product. If what is being offered isn't representative of it's reputation, then why did this brand gain as much recognition as it did. There's certain reasons why you don't see Nintendo making TVs or Gillette making clothing. In fact, some companies keep such a "high" regard for their brand, that they splinter off or even start their own separate divisions so as to not effect their already established brand (Such as Disney starting-up Touchstone).

Doom 3 is the perfect example of a company being "out-of-touch" with their market. And, it has been branded as one of the biggest black sheeps in gaming because of it. In fact, the only reason why it's gained any recent following is for the same reason why people are starting to appreciate the prequel Star Wars films in the wake of JewJew's sequel films. It's because the "proper" follow-up does "everything" that the original does, but still doesn't get WHY people hold up the original so much. So, the result is an aimless project with the first outing being nostalgia pandering, the second one getting full of itself and wondering off the deep end and pissing off everyone, and the third one having to reign in this mess of a series to make sense of it and try to appease all the people that bought the first one (Because you pretty much burned everyone else). And, yes, I am placing my bets on Bethesda making a third Doom game. And, I'm expecting it to be a complete and utter bomb

Call me a nostalgicfag but i loved the hub world. I am an absolute whore for that because there is replay value to do something or to go back on levels and replay again. Its what made Senran Kagura(Which i think was Estival Versus?) or even Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 stand out from other games that just give you a menu and send you off. It did feel like there was some effort put into it than the game being shit out like you mentioned.

This is one i agree with. The fact that they added an ability to mod blood punches for health was absolutely fucking retarded and the fact melee punches do zero damage when in Doom 2016 they did some damage fucking puzzles me at times. Speed was not really much of a thing, i did like the ability to unlock a glory kill that extends two jump dashes, but i think what you should have criticized was the ice grenades which was absolutely pointless and felt tacked on which was not much different from the grenades.

That is kind of reaching the bottom of the barrel there. It seems like you hardly played the game that much. To be fair anon its the same argument many people make when they do not realize that the industry changes after 20-30 years. Final Fantasy 7 Remake has Nomura and Uematsu and as much as they can of the returning people they could come back, but it can never be the exact same due to how standards are higher. Its just best to make a game that fits into todays mold but without taking the spirit away from the original. Because the thing is we have learned so much from the PS2 era with camera controls, we learned from the PS3 with load times and teaching the player how to do things properly so they can not complain about the game being impossible to learn or it being "tank controls" or "press a to win".

DMC2 came out and they had a good battle scheme but the rest of the gameplay and story was broken. DMC 3 was just a new start or a reboot to do something more fun and different than to be like DMC 1 because they felt the audience would be bored from DMC 1. Which to be fair they were not wrong as DMC 3 still is the golden child within the series and DMC 1 is just good for it's thematics and storytelling.

I would say it matters more on the gameplay end and storytelling if anything. I think a lot of us fall into the graphics trap and not questioning the story or gameplay because that is what makes or breaks all games.

The main issue with nostalgia is that we think things need to be as they were back then and everything was perfect back in those times. It prevents you from looking at the first games with a critical eye. I should know because i played DMC 1-5 last year and i noticed a lot of differences because i did not grow up with those games despite it coming out when i was a teenager. DMC 1 to me felt really well done in being a Castlevania kind of action game with some modern day heroism and attitude. But it had issues of camera controls, puzzles being everywhere and it just not coming together as it should. DMC 2 while it had corrected the controls, it fell apart on a mechnical level on story and on gameplay, it just needed more work put into it. DMC 3 felt like the jump Sonic made from Sega Saturn to Sega Genesis where Sonic had kind of an attitude and whatever style to a more show-off in your face kind of thing. And often Sonic fans from the 2D era fight with the ones from the 3D that liked Sonic Adventure 2 and 1 that say its the greatest thing ever. Both sides can not agree on what makes the perfect game because neither want to give an inch I have a feeling that DMC 3 and 5 has a change in Dante to be more fun and in your face than what we had with DmC in the first place.

The problem with Doom and Nudoom is that nobody can agree what makes a Doom game a doom game. There was Doom 3 that tried to return to it, but fans seem mixed on it. Doom 2016 has a lot of love because it still feels as close to Doom as they can get. Doom Eternal is a mixed bag in my opinion because while it is two steps forward from a mechanical perspective and also dividing up elements, the two steps back is the forcing you to play it a certain way than to have it in the Western sense of picking your OWN way to play and defeating it like that which Nudoom 2016 had. I will give it credit in the sense that its fun when you figure things out, but it needed to be slightly better than that.

I just seen Civvie's review and at the end he said, he is curious how nu-ID will milk the series since Eternal ended without any gay tease or cliffhanger. One of the jewtube comment also mentioned how the possible answer to this is Quake. The first one. You know, the one which barely has any connection to Q2 and Q4 since Q1's develpong was a literal cluster fuck.

Now you might say i can go to hell, but i think the Hell parts were pretty good in Eternal. I never seen so much unnecessary use of skulls since Quake 3. Some part of hell was more fitting to a Quake 3 arena than a Doom style Hell.

So what you think? Will they force the two thing together to milk nostalgia further? Is it a good idea? I think the desinge for it is there, but what you think?

It is but it is more consistent than Eternal, Eternal feels like a ton of different studios worked on it that all had their own vision of what Doom is. I don't think the game is bad but it feels really messy and sloppy, the over use of teleporting shit between levels shows that too. Doom 2016 was on point with about everything even though that game is pretty fucking dull.

Doom 2016 3 is probably gonna be some openworld le Skyrim shit, seeing how much deepest lore they shat out that goes nowhere.

I rage quit 2016 at one point because at some points it felt like I would be at full health one frame and just die for seemingly no reason the next frame. The game's idea of a "challenge" is to spawn a bunch of high-level critters that take a lot of time to kill and put you in a cramped area. Level design in gaming is dead.

I agree with you there. That is a valid point i always felt like it could have been more like MGSV in the whole recruitment campaign to get players in your base or to have extra stuff in terms of content. It feels like an effort that was wasted. But i do like the idea of hub worlds overall.

I had the same feeling and i noticed i hardly used grenades much anyways. It's weird how the difficulty in the game is very much pushed beyond the usual. I was playing it on normal and kept dying in certain sections thanks to the Archfile and Maurader being together in some areas. It is poorly designed than something that you have to really think through.

I agree on that, i try not to judge Doom 2016 to Doom 1-3 because those are widely different timelines and different games. Its a trap most of the posters here and others fall into. Eternal to me took a few steps back in terms of gameplay design and a little bit on soundtrack and arena design. If those things were corrected even the music(which even i admit in some instances can be bland and not as atmospheric) then it would have been awesome and been a huge jump over 2016. They tried to reinvent the wheel and kind of did ok but not fixing what is not broke was a terrible idea.

Watching some of the dev interviews with director Hugo Martin I get the feeling nuDoom El-oh-el was made as a means to teach the normalfag crowd some basic FPS skills. In that light many of nuDoom2's design decisions start making a lot of sense.

The problem with that idea is that normalfags are going to learn the wrong lesson. All they're going to learn is that a particular kind of monster is only vulnerable to a certain kind of weapon. The actual skill they would've learned in an old FPS would be switching weapons so as not to waste powerful weapon ammo on weak creatures. You could use the plasma rifle to kill pinkies back in the day, and maybe you'd want to if there was a roomful of them right nearby and you were low on bullets, but if you just shot every pinky you came across with plasma then you'd very quickly run out of cells. Yes, occasionally there was a monster that took less damage from a certain weapon, but that was usually powerful mobs and rockets and was done so that big setpiece monsters were still threatening even when you had the relatively powerful rocket launcher. The point still stands that people will only learn that there is an objectively best weapon for each monster type, which isn't a generally applicable FPS skill.

Normalfags are already trained to shoot for the head by all modern FPS games. Moving the weakpoint to some place other than the head is just arcade shooter game design 101. Locational damage wasn't really a thing in older FPSes, and in modern ones it's pretty much always "shoot the human/alien in the head/bulge on top." It's arguable that "shoot the head" is the basic FPS skill, and one that even normalfags already understand.

It's also one of the oldest ideas in the book. Plenty of games (usually things like overhead shooters) have used this idea. It's only new to Doom. Besides, not getting hit and dying is what makes you pay attention to enemies attacking. It's just that instead of the reaction being "hit cover button when enemies about to shoot" it's "fire at thing when enemies about to shoot." I can't even think of a classic enemy that you wanted to be out in the open shooting when they were firing at you (for any reason OTHER than they were only vulnerable then), but I could be wrong about this one. I mean, it's NOT generally a good idea to be out in the open shooting at FPS enemies when they're shooting attacks at you, so I don't see what basic skill this would actually be teaching.

Something that pisses me off is that this was not used in more ways, same with the glory kills.

What if they went off the Brutal Doom concept and have the enemies you glory kill give you a weapon or some utility tool? Kill an imp, get some more mobility and maybe a charged fireball. Glory Kill a dreadknight, get a whispering edge type sword with a projectile shockwave. Revenants would give you jetpacks and the shoulder mounted missiles, mancubus the flame cannon, etc. I think that would have really been more engaging than a canned animation that provides readily available healing. I really should stop being lazy and start /agdg/ because simply waiting around on someone to make the games I want is retarded and with the lockdown I really have no excuse

Honestly outside of puzzle monsters like the totems or the puzzle bosses like Marauder/Gladiator where you're pretty much forced to play one specifc way against them, I'm actually fine with the platforming. In fact I wish there were more arena hazards(not the sticky floors though, fuck those) and emphasis on blending combat with platforming and more deliberate movement.

I really, really want a weapons mod for Eternal that gets rid of readily available healing, armor and ammo. It completely takes from the experience that whenever you're low on health you can kill any of the shit tier fodder enemies(that conveniently happen to spawn in and aren't a shackle on the effective number of monsters since at least 2 enemies have to be fodder/light for chainsaw/easy glory kills)

But here's the thing, I did not find anything remotely enjoyable when it came to 2016. The movement was slow and ass and the double jump was that class of terrible double jump where it's a minute increase in jump height to allow you to reach previously unreachable areas. The glory kills were slower than Eternal's(not to mention you did not get access to the speed up glory kill rune/upgrade until later) and since every enemy, even the shit tier melee zombies could take off a chunk of your health you needed to use them, especially since the health received from glory kills was inversely proportional to your current health. There were little to no enemies outside of arenas and in the actual arenas(At least to the point where I dropped the game, the thrust boots) the game drip fed you enemies in small spawn waves which meant fights never ramped up in intensity and always seemed to end before they began, especially with how the shit tier music never actually kicked in during fights because of how quickly you seem to finish them. I don't know if that was the actual music or not but the entire soundtrack of what I've played of 2016 felt like a buildup or an intro to an actual soundtrack. Speaking of sound, the possessed zombies completely dominated the soundscape. Not like you could hear anything else due to the lack of distinctive sounds from other demons(Same applies for eternal but no one is vomiting loudly in your ear and at least some enemies have distinctive sounds, like the revenant missiles and arachnatron turret)

Eternal is far from anything perfect as I've made clear in previous posts. But compared to 2016 I can actually understand why some people could like the game. In fact I enjoyed myself a fair amount of times with the game(mainly slayer gates and the arc complex master level, the more platforming/movement heavy combat encounters and the environment variety.), unlike 2016 where there was not a single moment I've enjoyed myself during the 5-7 playthroughs I've attempted giving it on different difficulties and with/without the weapons mod. It's simply a shit tier FPS that's mildly better than the standard modern military shooter campaign in terms of gameplay but it attempts to cover it with "over the top" gore(where the only enjoyable part of said gore was the berserk powerup because it just gibbed enemies with a single punch instead of going through a canned animation, as well as mildly increased your movement speed).

I just don't get it.

I disliked 2016 and got bored midway through, but Eternal seems worse (I'm not going to bother to play it) because of the way the combat is structured. The weak point system is one step short of making normal attacks completely worthless with how much more efficient they are. The decision making process looks like this: "Hmmm, do I want to use all of my ammo to kill one enemy and get zero drops, or do I want to use a single shotgun shell and a glory kill and get all of my health refilled on top of that?" It eliminates almost all variation or decision making from the gameplay. The zombies are now explicitly for farming ammo and nothing else, which is tedious and wouldn't even be fucking necessary if Doomguy's bag of holding didn't keep getting smaller each iteration. The ammo counts at the beginning of 2016 were also bad, but at least if you're masochistic enough you can tough it out long enough to get a respectable ammo count, which gives you options as to which weapon to use. Eternal lacks those options because you use them on a couple of enemies and they're gone, forcing you to farm zombies again. They could have just designed a drop system that drops ammo for the gun you're using when you shoot an enemy dead, but for some reason they decided everyone should be forced to use the chainsaw constantly.

Come to think of it there's an enemy type that barely shows up called a Drone. It's a fast moving enemy that doesn't deal much damage, but if you headshot it it drops health and ammo by the assloads. It really makes me wonder why the fuck the chainsaw took precedence over that.

In other news the cacoaward wads for 2019 look pretty neat, especially that Heretic episode.

Yeah, it would be easy to make Arachnotrons drop cells and Revenants and Mancubi drop rockets, then you're covered. I also wish they hadn't tried so hard to make the former humans look and act as superlatively demonic as possible. Also, while I'm at it, I don't comprehend Bethesda's infatuation with frontloading their game with the worst parts. Both nuDoom games have this issue but it is noticeably worse in Eternal because it looks like someone designed the entire game with the assumption that you'd always have all the weapons and abilities. Then they looked at the calendar and thought "Oh shit I only have two months to design a difficulty curve." Even the positive reviews I've heard of this game say "I thought I wasn't going to like this game, then I got halfway through it." A far cry from Romero learning how to design levels by making later ones and then making sure he did the first episode last so they were the best. I'd give a lot for an ego-less Romero designing levels in today's industry.

Here's some of that video that was used because it's great.

On-topic, I felt that 2016 was just too slow and easy. Mediocre overall and never had any moments where I was pressured or could feel like I survived something. I think Eternal is better overall because at least when it gets into gear it's much harder and feels like it's trying to be closer to something like Devil May Cry. It's still pretty mindless and lacks in the design department but at least with the increased mobility and enemy types I can go fast and have a little more options in how things die.

the first time I fought the Marauder and Gladiator I didn't see why people hate them so much. In fact I actually kind of enjoyed it. It was a perfectly fine mechanic for a boss fight that wasn't just yet another giant 20 foot tall bullet sponge that turns the room into a bullet hell game.

Then a few levels later I started seeing the marauders show up in normal fights, and that I finally understood, because they became annoying as fuck to deal with then. They might as well be a giant no fun sign as you have to drop what you're doing and do their bullshit tactics to kill. I wish they'd at least had made the fuckers more vulnerable to rocket splash damage so that was a viable tactic to deal with them at long range when you're too busy with other shit. Frankly the rocket launcher just feels way under powered in this one all around.

I think my problem with the marauder is that he's basically a game of simon says. When the lights go green, click the button! And that same goes for the gladiator. I wish he used his hologram wolf more, I wish he had more abilities and weapons that mirror yours, etc.

It's like Furi, I wasn't a fan at all of the melee segments until I experimented a bit and realized I don't need to sit through the entire boss's melee combo, with enough timing and skill I can skip past that and interrupt their combos.

It's not like he outright kills the pace of the fights since they still spawn enough of other enemies for the pressure to be on, in other fights besides his intro but I'm not really a fan of how you fight him.

Honestly the same applies for the archvile. Outside of his demon buff I don't think I actually know what the hell he can do, if he has a line of sight attack or not or if he even revives or spawns enemies.

You had to preorder the game to get access to that map, the classic shotgun texture, the classic weapon sounds, and the "demonic" skin/model for the Doomguy.

The Bethesda platform version doesn't have a friends function built into it. You have to install Quake Champions, Failout 76 dollar budget, or something else with a friends list function in order to add people to play with in Eternal.

Ironically gyro for aiming seems to be very intuitive even for normalfags. I've heard that the problem is actually driven by the devs. They either don't want to change their control schemes because it's too much effort or they just assume that sticks are what people want because it's been around for so long. Microsoft also being sticks in the mud didn't help, but it was available to Sonyggers and Nintenyearolds since a couple of generations ago – the devs just would not take despite good results with shooting games that utilized gyro such as Metroid Prime and the Wii port of RE4.

Crash is the character DooM and Quake fans hold up as the proper way to bring a female character into any kind of DooM related media without it being retarded pandering. In Quake 3's limited story, she was Doomguy's instructor before all the UAC shit kicked off, so it stands to reason that she would be a force to be reckoned with. But nah, typical identity politician hacks had to make that shitty DooM movie nobody remembers the name of, while bashing on fans of DooM, and men in general, as misandry is currency in media.

The DPS output they're referring to is specifically mentioning the ability on PC to rapidly swap between weapons to skip the delay between shots, and cooldown periods after firing certain weapons. So you can fire a plasma blast, then a rocket, then a plasma blast, then a rocket, instead of firing a rocket, waiting, then firing another rocket.

Or more brutally, super shotgun, ballista, super shotgun, ballista.
