I think the Berserk musou wasn't bad. I liked the combat and especially the Berserker armor Guts is really fun to play as. Yeah it sucks how the playable character roster is small for a musou but I don't think that ruined the whole game. Don't know what the fuck they were thinking not letting us be able to play as Skull Knight or Grunbeld, or the other Neo Band of the Hawk members (at least we got Zodd).
Also we need a fucking Dynasty Warriors vs Sengoku Basara game. Lu Bu vs Oda Nobunaga alone would be worth playing it.

Oh yeah I should've clarified Sengoku Basara based off of Devil Kings and the sequels to that game titled Sengoku Basara, not Samurai Warriors. I'm talking about a crossover.

I enjoyed Band of the Hawk. I got 90 hours out of it and unlocked all the achievements for it. I do wish it was longer but I still go back to it every now and then to unwind. That's what I enjoy most about Musou games, especially Dynasty Warriors 8, you can just turn your brain off and have fun slaughtering endless waves of enemies with overpowered characters.

I'm busy right now with WO4U, which feels like Disgaea in Hack&Slash-form.
You just make over 170 characters absurdly powerful and it even has a reincarnation (called promotion) system, where the characters become even more OP.
My biggest gripe with this game is Infinity Mode which is honestly just boring. You NEVER fight more than one character at any given time, you only fight sword-wielding mobs, no creatures, no officers, no spearmen, no archers, no sorcerers.
If I want any semblance of variation, I have to play the main-campaign and its side-missions, which are genuinely fun (if too easy, even on Pandemonium).
FEW is still by far my favourite, even if the rooster is inexusable. But it gets so intense and chaotic, especially during the high-level History Mode missions, it's just a blast to play. And the implementation of the weapon-triangle and the pair-up system is genuinely well done.
Oh, one of the greatest things which I didn't find in any other musou-game: you can actually ORDER your partners on the map where they need to go and which camp they need to capture or which officer they need to fight or even who they need to heal.
Berserk I'm also interested in, but the small rooster, little content and that it was somewhat censored completely killed any hype for me for it.
My next projects will be Sengoku Basara 4, SW4-II and mostly DW8XL.
I'm also very interested in Legends of Troy, though wasn't able to find a copy so far.

It's unfortunately very, very mediocre and an obvious cash-in for the anime and movies, despite Koinuma trying for years to get a Berserk Musou off the ground. It doesn't help that it's abysmally worse than the PS2 game but hey. It's the second best Berserk game anyone's ever gonna get at this point.
Doesn't help that the trailers were far more hype than the actual game and Koei didn't pull this bullshit when it comes to their anime-licensed games out of fear they might get burned. And the best example is Arslan because the trailers are as
<ok
as the game itself.
Capcom and Koei will never do a crossover unfortunately, not so much bad blood but there's a lot of other issues, one of them being the people who cared about Musou and Basara development aren't interested in making them anymore or have just moved on to other companies.
>>16876548
>FEW is still by far my favourite, even if the rooster is inexusable.
Remember to always shit on nu-Intelligent Systems for that kind of shit and never even giving a fuck about the project itself, unlike Miyamoto and Koinuma for Zelda. And remember to shit on nu-IS for poaching designs and weapons for the twins and putting them on FE Heroes. We could have Lian / Lianna have a fucking spear
>INB4 someone brings up the whole sword thing
retard prince still wouldn't get an ax, that thing was tossed away early. He would have a better design and personality though.
Other than that, it's all good. Wouldn't call it my favourite but it was an earnest try and a massive upgrade in QoL systems from Hyrule Warriors and in the action department, even if that meant the enemies were a little more brain dead that I hoped for compared to HW 3DS. Also unlike HW where the DLC and massive level increase and the bullshit weapon system made everything a fucking chore after the first LDC on the 3DS, FEW actually got better with each DLC it received. Might even be the first and only game that has ever happened and I suspect it's because Nintendo forced KT to hurry up development to meet up the final days of the N3DS and also forced them to produce an overclocked version for the Switch, and the characters were actually cut content as seen with Navarre and Owain. Ultimately, HW3DS and FEW are equal in my eyes, for different reasons.
If you should move to any other Musou, try the first Dragon Quest Heroes. You won't regret it. Just not on the Switch.

It is dubsman. Far more than the first one. And it's made by half of the original team who did the Hyrule Warriors games. The other half just did Fire Emblem Warriors and they tried to replace members with some map designers from the HW DLC team.

Gameplay wise: went from bad to somewhat passable
Story wise: In the first Extella game it took me around 30 hours to finish the main campaign. Each character had their own side missions with a specific ending.
In Link the main story took about 6 hours, there's no side missions for any of the characters (just "special" missions, with no individuel end).
They also stripped Link from anything resembling lewd.
There's also empty rooms in the My Room hotel, which I was absolutely certain, would be filled later on with DLC-characters (I'm still hoping for BB, Heracles and Raikou), but so far nothing was released since March 2019.
Overall, it was just "meh" and didn't have nearly the charming insanity and lewdness that the first Extella had. Karl's shenanigans and Gils cameo were the only thing I genuinely enjoyed.

Really? I often found my self trying to do weapon combos and dodging around like a maniac in HW more often than not but I can see why you say that when you have obviously "fat" / heavy characters in the game compared to FEW and if you don't have the 3DS or Switch version of HW, you'd miss out on character switching on the field along with Fairy Nukes that can speed up things very much.
As for Warriors Orochi, I have a high aversion to the series after WO1. WO2 and 3 disapponted me greatly for vastly different reasons and the experience is still inferior to that of my WO1 and I actually went back to see if I was imagining things.
Maybe WO3Ultimate is good but I didn't get that, so maybe it's my fault.

Well it's not like I hated HW, there is a lot of effort put into it and the people making it were obviously passionate about the Zelda-franchise, which is something I respect, but I guess I could give the Switch-version a try, if they added said QoL-features from FEW.
I don't blame you for not getting into WO, WO3U is pretty fun, but to have to wait for an expansion to make the base game somewhat entertaining is a pretty lame and would naturally be a dealbreaker for customers.
I guess only fighting games can get away with this sort of "new addition patch".

The WiiU version despite the nice graphics is a big chore to playthrough and it's mostly due to Hardware, not so much the game itself, remember, N3DS had a better and more stable frame than the WiiU. So when the Switch gets that + all the crazy shit that couldn't be shown in the cutscene finishers of the 3DS version, you can see what a slog it was to develop it there. To put it into perspective, they made an entirely new and separate engine for the 3DS version of HW and used that engine to make FEW. And mid-way through FEW, they ported that engine to the Switch and upon that iteration, they figured out the kinks and made the Switch version of HW. It's why FEW on the DS is not only the most intense game on the system, it's one built to push it to the absolute limit, like all end-cycle games should.
For WO, it's a bit complicated. For me, having been with the Musou series from the very start, actually playing DW2 and marvelling at one of my video game dreams coming true as a, I wanna say 13yo, when I first played the demo at a local videogame store and DW5 and SW1 became my favourites very quickly for what they did and the characters they had. SW2 not so much but I did like how they took a lighthearted jab at Capcom by making their Date Masamune get the weapons of Dante while Capcom just gave theirs his DMC3 personalityit's because the people who DMC1 and 3 really liked DMC3 Dante who, rumour has it, was ghostwritten by Langdon and Kobayashi himself, who later went on to create Basara and manage RE5 and 6 and that was that. Come 2008 and WO1 drops and I fucking love it. PS2 and PSP versions are out and I fall in love with portable WO1 since having an actual Musou on the go was what I wanted ever since I got Samurai Warriors State of War.
Come WO2 / Maou Sairin and you have everyone hyping themselves up for how awesome it'll be, especially when news arrive about how the nip version will have the Strike Force costumes, Yoshitsune and motherfucking Benkei who everyone was hyped about since he was initially presented as Archer, with him having Suwabe as his voice actor and his first magazine scan has him with the Unlimited Blade Works field. Obviously that's not how things went and even characters like Son Goku / Sun Wukong were underwhelming, especially when Koei had featured them in other games in a much, much better fashion. It was basically Samurai Warriors' Goemon situation all over again but for about 4 new playables. And then came the gameplay changes and they were horrible beyond belief.
Fast forward to when WO3 comes out, I get it and I'm having a blast initially. The time traveling stuff is fun, the way the story progresses in that is pretty good and I can overlook the fact that we're playing with SW3 and DW7 characters that don't exactly have the best movesets, moreso the DW7 characters because fuck them. After I finish it and unlock all the characters I want it becomes a slog : the old systems have been revamped to something very questionable, the bullshit weapon attributes that broke the game completely in WO2 return, you can't initially swap characters around, you have now a ton of MMO-like systems that are a slog to go through, like the fucking camp, the levels aren't that interesting and are very scripted, PS3 version runs at 30FPS, major type changes happened all arpund and typing doesn't much anymore, bullshit story etc. And then I went back to WO1 and I could do DMC3 bullshit with Date Masamune simply because he was a Speed character and his moveset lent itself to the playstyle flawlessly. And then you had the infinitely better movesets from DW characters…I just couldn't go back to WO3.
Now, despite the MMO bullshit systems that WO4 has, I'm intrigued to see how DW8 characters and SW4 characters play like in 60FPS and with some enhancements that I hear can make you go really fast. That intrigues me a tiny bit. But if I'm honest, WO1 to me is the height of old Koei and I still play it a whole lot. Maybe WO4U will change my mind but WO4 Vannila certainly didn't do me any favours at fucking all. While SW4 is shit, the movesets and the costumes are quite good so there's that and I see that some of my favourite characters got their WO1 typing in WO4, while DW8 was all around excellent, even if they sacrificed my boys Gan Ning and Guan Ping to the altair of shit, in order for everyone else to go from mediocre to awesome and from awesome to even more awesome.

I want to like warriors all stars so much but it offers so little variation between stages it gets really boring, really fast. It's just the same 5 missions over and over and it's not like the main missions fair a lot better. All the gimmicks they introduced with character abilities in` the game are such dumb fun and kinda cute but I feel like they dropped the ball on everything else.
I'm aiming for WO4U and Spirit of Sanada next. They any good?

I can tell you about Spirit of Sanada : if you have Samurai Warriors 4-II, it's not worth it for one cool new addition of acharacter and you can get the OST on the net. If you know moonrunes or know about BASARA, just get Yukimura Den instead as it came out the same time and focus onthe same thing as Sanadamaru. For the trade-off of having the worst soundtrack in the Basara series, you get some uppened difficulty, new gimmicks, 6 new players essentially, even if 4 of them are Masamune and Yukimura again, while you get a new Style system.

Thing is for me combat in a musou game is my top priority for how I judge a game but also going by what >>16877563 said it seems like it lacks side-content. What I've heard in regards to WO4U is that it has quite a few side-content to do but some of them are worthless. I'll probably still lean towards WO4U just on the fact that it has more characters and probably a better story, though I'm curious on what you specifically hated about FEL?

The changes sound fine so far in paper, with special abilities per character being mapped to R1 plus button, with specific cooldowns on abilities and most characters having more than 3-4 R1 type attacks, as well as the ability to jump manually.
However, I have not heard anything at all about modes besides story mode. Also 9 DLC characters.
>>16880265
What I specifically hate about FEL is one, the battlefields are all just rooms connected by instant teleport hallways, It makes traveling through each battlefield very very boring to me. Second, the characters don't really develop or can be changed on a gameplay level. You get a pretty bog standard moveset for each character, and a few special attacks, with all of them being absurdly powerful that it takes any skill (either overcoming strong enemies, or getting high combos) out of the window.
Third, the kill counts are so absurdly high that mooks feel meaningless when you can down 6,000 of them in ten minutes, and the boss battles are just mindless mashing even by Koei standards.

Gundam would be pretty cool, especially with IBO because no matter how utter shit that series was and how many memes came out it, the basis for a musou is brilliant. For Hellsing, it would imply that anyone gives a shit about Hellsing anymore and I can feel the few Hellsing fans painbeing a Guyverfag is endless suffering but we're probably gonna see a Drifters Musou before Hellsing, given that Drifters is pretty hot and more popular than Hellsing overall.

Thing about the Gundam musous is they all included different series in each game so it wouldn't just be focused on IBO, thankfully. Also are you sure Drifters is more popular than Hellsing overall? I'm not sure about manga sells. Though I still see people with Alucard and Seras profile pictures and hardly see anyone bring up Drifters. It's also been like 3 years and we haven't gotten a Drifters 2nd season. Both of them having a musou game would be cool though.

I was reffering mostly to how much the setting of IBO lends to a Musou as an excuse to kickstart the trend of Gundam Warriors games, as they do add the newcomers ever since GW3 and for better or worse, it was also on Kikeflix so even the average nigger knows about it now.
As for Hellsing, it always had a bigger fanbase in the west and I'd say that given how much time and how many studios the Hellsing OVA changed, for Drifters to just take their time to produce 13 episodes and some OVAs eevry few years, is quite fine, given the way they animate the whole thing and the detail they go into. Producing anime like that at a lightning pace without money to fall back to is why Urushihara almost bankrupt an entire studio.

Yeah, I noticed that in WO4, where Shu has a dude that uses a tiny boat to surf and wrestle.
Wu has a guy that uses wingblades and flies around like crazy or a cutie that casually lifts a huge slab of earth and slams it on her enemies.
And of course there's the WO-exclusive characters, especially the WO4(U)-characters, who are really damn fun and hilariously broken (though the same can be said about the SW-characters, with their spammable hyper-attacks).
I also want to revise my opinion of Wei, instead of "barebones" I wanted to say "conventional", since they also have their share of weird weaponry, just not as much as their rival-faction.
Also, who is that one (or multiple) musou-officer, that you always dread fighting?
For me it's pics related, mostly because their musous are incredibly hard to avoid and do stupid amounts of damage.
Kizaru especially, even for a logia-type enemy.

I can fight anyone easily, except maybe Honda and Lu Bu 1v1. I hate it when suddenly there are 4+ enemy officers grouped together and they all want a piece of you. Or worse, they are all targeting an important objective at once.

It's the opposite my dude. Wu has the old surfer-wrestler and Huang Gai and Shu's got the Wingblades guy and Guan Yu's daughter with the super strength.
Also Guan Yinping, like most women in the game is prime wife material.

>I think the Berserk musou wasn't bad.
It's literally cash-in trash. Not only is there a small roster, the characters have copypasted moves from other musou games that don't even suit those characters. They were trying to be as cheap as they could possibly get away with while selling on name alone.

One Piece Warrior's 4 is out.
So far it seems like a cut down version of 3 with more of the recent chapters of the manga being a focus rather than the over all story. Game throws you straight into Alabasta for mission 1, meaning that meeting and recruiting, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, Usopp and Chopper is all told in a damn cutscene with assets and movies taken from 3.
Combat is a bit more flighty, meaning that there's a dedicated button for jumping to aerial combo and dashing anytime which is weirdly fun and useful. Even has the same blue like menu that Aot Final Battle and I think DW9 used.

Good, I really didn't need to see all that shit again for the XXth time. DLing it right now, by God, I hope that it's good.

RIP Garp though.

Played a mission with Zoro before heading to bed. They've updated the engine alot so when Zoro uses 1080 pound phoenix you really feel it. Super attacks are now abilities you can trigger, as well as a rage like mode you need against named characters. You'll need lock on against flying units to target and stun them. Best moment was using Rage mode, which does unlock other attacks, as Zoro's basic X attacks didn't include his hidden blade one. And that speeds everything up. When you're zooming around in rage mode just laying waste to everything it's pretty great.
Coins return but they're easy to get. Berry to upgrade stuff as well, but I'm not earning the crazy amounts of like 600k per mission anymore.

So far I've played 3 hours or so and it's exactly what I was hoping for: Pirate Warriors 3 but with improved mechanics. The only thing I don't like is the story, I don't get why they chose such a weird starting point. It doesn't start at the beginning, but it also doesn't start where PW3 left off, so it's the worst of both worlds. New players only get a very short summary of the story so far, while series veterans will, again, have to play the same story they've already played before. At least some events get more coverage and have new cutscenes than in PW3.

This. The best way to do these games is the way 1 did which is by giving some quick reason why they are all together and then focus on how the different characters act towards eachother.

I am pretty fucking ready for PW4 at this point, 3 was neat. It's a shame there are so many One Piece games but all of them are shit, with this exception. The voice acting cast must be rolling in dosh at this point.

Obviously, yeah but I don't get why the game starts at the midpoint of PW3 instead of continuing on from the ending. Now I have to watch Ace die again for the millionth time

Is the Steam-version of PW4 any good?
What knowing how Koei usually treats their IPs on PC-releases, I'm particularly careful about this.
At least in the reviews I read, it has some trouble recognizing the XBox-Controller, unless you use big-picture mode or something like that.
Does it have nice jiggle on Nami and Robin?

The combat was okay, but I feel like when you have 30+ years of manga (mostly from Idol Master idling but still) that a roster of, what, eight? Maybe 10 if you count Femto and Beserk Armor Guts? The second it came out on Steam it honestly felt DOA. I think the only thing I ever saw on the news (one of the few times I would ever even used that, because I wanted to see ANYTHING). Maybe Hyrule Warriors spoiled me with all the fanservice, but I felt a bit disappointed.

For what it's worth, it's the first Koei port I've ever played that actually has graphic options and it also runs better on my machine than PW3 did. I didn't have any problems with it recognizing my DS4 controller and I believe you can fix the controller problem by enabling Xbox Gamepads in the Steam controller options. I can't say anything about the jiggle physics as I haven't unlocked them yet but PW3 had it and I doubt that they removed it.

Pretty good. Pirate Warriors 3 is PS3 era musou as far as gameplay with a more comprehensive overview of the series, while PW4 has more newer things like full aerial movesets and R1 plus face button special moves.

Yes, Sengoku Basara 4 Sumeragi blows most musou games out of the water as far as gameplay depth, it's just kinda old at this point and Capcom has left the series dormant.
