Guide to a Happy Share Thread

1. Before requesting, search online and even use distributed search engines (e.g. InfraSearch, Opencola, YaCy, FAROO).
2. Look in CheckBeforePosting, the archives, and volafile.
3. If a password is required check the archives, especially the source thread if it's listed.
4. Be as specific as possible. If you have the cover art of the file you want, post it in both the share thread and in vola room.
5. Links to files will purposely be misleading by having spaces, lines, keys & passwords split in the post. This includes torrent hashes.
a. If you see a string of characters (e.g. c12fe1c06bba254a9dc9f519b335aa7c1367a88a) with or without dashes, it is a magnet link.
b. If your bittorrent is shit, prepend magnet:?xt=urn:btih: to the string.
c. Find and Replace (sed/tr/awk) is your friend.
Uploaders
1. When in doubt, upload. Ask questions later.
2. Upload to at least 5 alternative sources and keep a local copy if space permits.
3. Use a URL shortener (spaced or split), base64 encryption, and/or paste relinks (e.g. zerobin.net) on file links to confuse bots.
4. Encrypt your uploads with a password, key, or generator. Rename the files something random, even their checksums. Maybe even pad files to the nearest GB or so to confuse bots.
5. If your connection is stable, it is extremely advisable to self host using anonymity tools like Freenet, I2P, Gnunet, distributed NNTP or MixMinion/Mixmaster.

1. Before uploading a batch of miscellaneous files (e.g images and music), be sure they are unique enough to stand on their own and that you ask for the majority's consensus whether to upload the files individually.
2. Upload 5 files and then zip the rest if the dump is larger then 6-7 files. Music Albums exceeding 5 files are to be zipped.
3. When uploading .torrent, either add them to the a zip of the game or just don’t upload those misc files. Properly label files so that they can be identified without asking someone else.
4. For lewd stuff with filenames like RJ74765, either add a .txt linking to the contents on a website or just add the title to the .txt (e.g. "BIG BOOTY WOMEN SIT ON SHOTA FACE (RJ34734)").
5. You can filter files by file type (.txt, .rar, etc) or search the file list with the bar hidden by the filter files button.
a. When in doubt, archive as a single [or split if too large], then upload.

I'm finally done with all my Comiket 97 scans and going back to scanning artbooks again. I'll try to upload 1-2 artbooks per thread like I used to. For the anons who were waiting on some of my doujin uploads, I uploaded 31 doujins when the thread was dead. The artbook I'm working on is this official Chaika artbook and I'm trying to figure out what scanning method looks better. 1st image had it scanned at 700dpi with no descreening and sharpening software. Then I downsize it to 350dpi with bicubic (smooth gradients) setting in Photoshop 15. The goal with that is to remove the moise without sacrificing the sharpness. The second image was scanned at 350dpi with a medium sharpness setting and and weak descreening. Some blur is expected but it should get rid of more moise than the first image.
Which method do you think looks better?

Thanks as always for the consistently good, high-res scans saved in PNG (the JPEG artifacts would have made b/w pages irrecoverable). My only pet peeve with them is the huge filesizes (~6MB) for halftone pages which stem from noise and non-visible paper texture that could have been removed by levelling.
Attached is an extreme example of the filesize reduction you can make with little loss of quality. From your recent kanemashita scan: DDD_003.png (6MB) now at 415KB after levelling (values were eyeballed, but for what it's worth: 40, 238), sharpening and color reduction to 2. A more conservative option would be to just level and save at a higher greyscale, leaving it about 1.5MB.

I think the first one is better by far, the extremely sharp moire pattern personally looks good to me. And a more objective argument, the descreening is a destructive filter that can always be applied later but not the reverse, so the one with moire could be considered a more "raw" image for archival, comparable to say png vs jpg (though that analogy is quite bad, because nobody thinks a jpg would look better)

I'm switching to generating checksums with rhash. The downside of this is that BLAKE2 can't be used because rhash doesn't support it, but it makes generating and updating the checksums easier.
I'm autistic about this shit so the outdated hash functions are still good enough for detecting transmission error at the very least, and if the SHA-whatever ones are backdoored then EDON-R512 isn't NSA-approved.

As for the "prioritize anime and porn over actual games" that is far from the truth. You can check the old archives and the main difference from then and now is that many more people made requests. Most requests weren't fulfilled because a large majority of them were either too obscure for people to fulfill or easily accessible on the links in the OP that none of them bothered checking due to either laziness or stupidity. Around the same amount of vidya content is posted in these threads and most at this point know where to find the games they want. Some of the other anons that would share vidya left after 8ch's death and all the problems with 8kun. Here are some Share Threads years back. It's a DNS issue, the new DNS is propagating now so it should clear up.
If want to speed it up it might help to flush your computer's DNS cache (normally lasts 24 hours), but I'm not sure if that's necessary because they just emptied the DNS record instead of hijacking it. If that doesn't work the cache of your DNS provider probably hasn't updated yet, usually that takes a few hours at most. If necessary you can access it over Tor (just using the normal url not a hidden service), or manually set fatchan.org to 198.251.86.191 in your hosts file (might cause problems in the future if you forget to undo it and they change IPs).

It's a game developed by Nival Interactive, the devs of Silent Storm. It's a nice strategy rpg game similar to Sİlent Storm. At least it was nice when i played it the demo when it first came out. A word of warning, anon. This game's using Star Force DRM, which is known to BSOD systems. It sent my Win7 into repair mode and I had to rearrange boot priorities to turn my PC on and the version I tried out still didn't work (Star Force requires a reboot, fuckface!)

On the notion of Type-Moon and cut H-scenes. The first time I played Tsukihime was the non-H version released by, I believe, Beast's Lair. Years later I looked into the H-scenes and such and, well, honestly, it just doesn't feel as good. As a horror-esque story with a grimness to it, the story just feels more cohesive without the sex scenes themselves. Just implying that it happened and moving on is sufficient for using it as a medium for something to occur (transfer of magical power) while not detracting from the overarching mood.
