Last I played the only viable specs were all dex builds due to the no poise mechanics killing heavy armor and heavy weapons and magic being shit. If that was fixed it's possible, but considering the lackluster dlcs and froms history, I doubt it was. DS2 had best pvp, DS1 had best setting, DS3 had best graphics maybe.

Dark souls 3 pvp was awful. I remember everyone just using longswords or some boring shit. All the weapons and builds were basically the same. Just horrible. With fast estus and no backstabs invasions, the kind of pvp the game is actually designed for, were just awful. Dark souls 1 PVP was by far the best.

Backstab fishing was super easy to counter in dark souls 1, it sounds like you were just bad. If someone was circling around for a backstab you could just counter circle them and backstab them first. If you got backstabbed some other way it's because you left yourself open.

Yeah, cause dex and roll was the only viable strat. No poise meant armor was shit, and because you could be stun locked then the dude just rolls away, heavy weapons were useless, and magic was shit as well. On top of this, the stamina damage from attacks when defending with a shield was so high, it no longer required kicks like before, but being able to relatively easily shatter someones defense just by spam swinging, negating the usefulness of shields as well, making dodge rolling the only viable option. Was boring as shit. Didn't help that is was the most linear of all the DS games, and had like 3 different pvp zones, 2 of which, iirc outside of like a specific 10 levels where people were normally passing through the level. Nowhere near as profilic or cool as the forest in DS1, or dark Anor Londo. They also ruined covenants by copying DS2s retarded covenants instead of sticking to 1s like the proper blades of the darkmoon, and the inclusion of more summoners to help the host, and the reduced damage and healing for invaders further gimping wraiths or purple wraiths. It's like they were actively trying to discourage pvp.

It's actually the opposite now, ultra greatswordfags are the meta because now hyperarmor frames will stunlock you for a million years if your opponent has more poise than you and you're trying to trade with them with a katana or some other flimsy dex weapon.

Yeah but Dark Souls I pvp was the same kind of boring, but with backstab fishing, twinking and memeshit like wrath of the gods + power within for instant kills. While this game is built upon the same foundation, and you can do all of the same shit, you sacrifice something in the name of "balance". If you want to be a backstab fishing faggot, you can do that, but you won't be able to trade with fags who wield huge greatsword with lots of poise, and if you want to do WotG + PW then you can do that but the baseline damage is ultimately diminished, not to mention that PW doesn't last nearly as long as it did in the first game, and WotG isn't an instant attack but instead has a somewhat lengthy startup animation.

It's because backstabs in Dark Souls I were incredibly powerful. Everything from a greatsword to a straight sword would do so much damage that most of the time you'd be insta killed or near death after one was landed on you, and that's without the hornet ring. In Dark Souls III, you won't do that much critical damage with backstabs or parrys unless you wear the hornet ring and use a weapon that has high critical hit damage, like a dagger.

Yeah but that's not the point, the point is that WotG + PW in Dark Souls I was cheesy twink memeshit that any nigger could equip and use to get a bundle of kills from unsuspecting low level players in the burg. That shit's more unbalanced than anything you can find in Dark Souls III, and even though you can do something similar in Dark Souls III, it's not as effective, so it's ultimately a better experience for hosts and invaders alike. I do agree about the magic, though, they need to come up with some better spells and a more viable system for people who only want to use magic and nothing else.

I'm saying that it's a garbage tactic for faggots who don't want to fight but who only want easy wins against players who don't know any better, or who can't defend themselves against it because they don't have the resources to counter it, and therefore the inclusion of such a tactic is itself poor balancing, much more than anything in Dark Souls III.

What does wrath of god have to do with twinking? At low levels you could just invade with upgraded weapons and always win, no wog or power within needed. Don't know why you're fixated on this rare combo.

Yeah same, plus most of the areas in the game aren't exactly conducive to pvp. For example the nightmare frontier was a shitty area for pvp because of all the rocks and terrain that made it difficult to move around. At least Dark Souls III has larger and more open areas in which one could move around without worrying about colliding with the environment

I'm not fixated on anything, I'm just using WotG + PW as an example of shitty balancing. Another example would be what you just mentioned (i.e. high level weapons and equipment on low level characters), or the Dark Bead + PW on characters of any level. Another example was the aforementioned backstabs, which took priority over other actions in the game and did more damage than you can justify.

Yeah I agree, I have a shitty internet connection so the performance in any game is laggy, but Bloodborne's lag was extraordinary. Also covenants in that game were even more pointless than the rest of the entire series, and the small amount of weapons and hunter tools sucks for variety.

PvP ultimately ruined Dark Souls. So much attention, effort and resources wasted on a shoddy and broken online component. Then they had to keep fucking with weapons, spells, miracles, pyromancies and armours all for the sake of balance. Its why miracles and magic suck in DS3, why poise is gone so no more tank builds. Could they have implemented some kind of PvP specific stats for armours and weapons and spells? When you go online your gear is essentially reforged so the PvP stuff can be balanced, but you still get the good stuff in PvE.

It's low level play to allow players to brutalize others if they know the game mechanics. It helps to reinforce the danger and hostility of the setting of DS1 as well. The fact you can't do shit like this, and the gimps against dark wraiths in DS3 as well as a bonfire every ten steps is the actual poor game design. There is no sense of threat in DS3, it's a joke.
