I know Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization did it, but that's the only one I've personally had experience with. I don't pirate much AAA trash, anyway, but if they'd put it in a release that minor, it's probably safe to assume most of their major releases had it, too. Unfortunately, as I'm one of maybe two people on /v/ that doesn't have Steam, nobody else would even notice the controller issue.
>How does that even work?
Exactly as it sounds. No controller works with the PC version of the game unless you use some controller emulation function of Steam. Bonus points: this workaround only worked for about 60% of people who legit bought it, and Bamco's response was "LOL just use the Steam workaround, fagit." Controllers don't work under any circumstances if you pirated the game. Not even the Steam thing works. To this day, nobody's managed to fix the issue in the legit or pirated versions, which leads me to think it was DRM that worked a little too well and fucked over a lot of legit consumers.
