Guide to a happy Share Thread
Leechers
1. Before requesting, search online and even use distributed search engines e.g.InfraSearch,Opencola,YaCy,FAROO. See below for famous links.
2. Look first in the archives and volafile.
3. Be as specific as possible. If you have the cover art of the file you want, post it in both the share thread and in vola room.
4. Due to asshats in the thread, links to files will be purposely misleading (have spaces, lines, keys&passwords split in the post),including torrent hashes.
If you see a string of characters (e.g. c12fe1c06bba254a9dc9f519b335aa7c1367a88a) with or without dashes, it is a magnet link.
If your bittorrent is shit, prepend magnet:?xt=urn:btih: to the string.
a. Find and Replace (sed/tr/awk) is your friend.
Uploaders
1. When in doubt;upload, ask questions later.
2. Upload to many alternative sources (5+) and keep a local copy if space permits.
3. Use a URL shorterner (spaced or split) and/or paste relinks (e.g zerobin.net) on file links to confuse bots.
4. Encrypt your uploads now with a password, key, or generator.Rename the files something random, even their checksums.Maybe even pad files to the nearest GB or so,to confuse bots.
5. If your connection is stable,it is extremely advisable to self host. Using anonymity tools like Freenet,I2P,Gnunet,distributed NNTP or MixMinion/Mixmaster.
Volafile volafile.org/r/HF33Go
1. Before uploading a batch of miscellaneous files,e.g images and music be sure they are unique enough to stand on their own and that you ask for the majority's the consensus whether to upload the files individually.
2. Vola room owner edit- Upload 5 files and then zip the rest if the dump is larger then 6-7 files. Music Albums exceeding 5 files are to be zipped. When uploading .torrent, either add them to the a zip of the game or just don’t upload those misc files.Properly label files so that they can be identified without asking someone else. For lewd stuff with filenames like RJ74765 either add a .txt linking to the contents on a website or just add the title to the .txt e.g "BIG BOOTY WOMEN SIT ON SHOTA FACE (RJ34734)".
3. You can filter files by file type (.txt, .rar, etc) or search the file list with the bar hidden by the filter files button.
a. When in doubt, archive as a single [or split if too large],then upload.

On a side note, someone wanted this Paizuri-only doujin uploaded so here it is.

I'd be down for that. Got a good amount of songs that come to mind from at least a few series I enjoy. Could use a better mp4 conversion method though. Site I was using that made them with small filesizes put a registration gate on them, and otherwise I'm stuck with photoshop and constantly having to fiddle with thumbnail size dimensions to try to get stuff to even just barely within postable limits.
Thanks for compiling that comfy collection too.

Every blue moon I share my 2D collection here. I'm planning on posting it in this thread again now that it's substantially larger than last time. While I usually upload to MEGA, would you guys prefer that or Google Drive? A magnet would kill my data cap so I can't do that.
Unlike last time, I'll try uploading my 2D Gif/webm folder. Though I still need to convert all the larger gifs to webm. I also mentioned before that I was going to upload my collection of individual artists. That's done but it's over a hundred GBs. So I'm most likely uploading that to MEGA unless someone has a better alternative.

So, I came here a while ago discussing the differences between the main series and the movie franchise dedicated to the crew of pirates led by straw hat.
As many of you suggested, Baron Omatsuri & The Secret Island was one of the best if not the best movie to ever come out under that universe.
I gotta say I was pretty taken aback that something as low quality as One Piece could dish out some good quality content, but I gave it a go and… I was never happier to have been wrong.
>Movie Director: Mamoru Hosoda
The man behind The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, The Boy and the Beast, and worked in both Studio Ghibli and Madhouse.
>Written by: Masahiro Itō
The man responsible for the design of locales and creatures from the whole Silent Hill franchise, and more.
With that said, I'm pretty disillusioned in thinking nothing could top this, in quality of writing and storytelling.
But this thirst won't be easy to quench, so please /v/, tell me.
Is there some other good movie from the One Piece universe?

Not sure about the films after gold since I'm not caught up on it because of anime backlogs. Is setting up Switch emulation worth all of the effort? Having to download 8-11 GB of 1 game each time sounds like a nightmare to me. It takes me around 12 hours to download a 7GB season of anime because my internet cuts off sometimes.

Is downloading anything worth the effort? If you want to play a switch-exclusive title, just wait. You will have the files as long as you have the storage space (and nobody should ever delete anything except inferior copies of data they are replacing i.e. deleting a 480p encode of an anime when downloading a 720p version provided they are from the same source) and the emulation will only improve as time goes on.
Here's a spyware-free version of the JDownloader2 installer, if it helps. Good taste in soundtracks, friendo.

hi fags. can someone help me understand why I can't bypass the bandwidth/download limit for mega? I have tried megadl from megatools, jdownloader, and megadownloader, I can sometimes get the downloads to work when I reset the connection etc, but I am trying to download a remastered godzilla vs mechagodzilla movie, and the decrypted link says that the path format is not valid or whatever. I assume this means the file has invalid characters, but I can download that file through jdownloader, but it will stop and say the bandwidth has been exceeded and my free account is on disable for another hour.
i keep resetting the connection, i've tried wiping my cookies, cache, changing IP, nothing is working. Anyone have these issues before? Google was little to no help.

This might seem like an odd question. I've seen some DoS games that were wrapped in a program that emulated DoS games so they could be played on later windows versions with no issue. Is there a tutorial anywhere that could show how to do that on your own?
7ec226 No.16641880
>>16641868
It's two easy steps:
1: Stop calling it DoS. If you're autistic and positively must use proper acronyms it was DOS.
2: Google for DOSbox. I haven't fucked with it in legitimately a decade but I used to use a frontend called D-Fend to make it easier to set up custom profiles for each game, but there's probably a better option for it nowadays.

DOSbox is hilariously simple. It's just an emulator, so most game setups work identical to one another and usually look like the following:
>mount c <game installation path, in this case let's say it's c:\games\xwing>
<this tells DOSbox that you're setting up c:\games\xwing to just be plain old c:
>c:
<this switches directory to what you just set up as c:, which again is your X-Wing folder
>dir
<this displays a directory of everything in that folder, you can also use dir/p or dir/w for different views
<let's assume xwing.exe is in there and you don't need to run a setup file
>xwing.exe
<game begins
Nearly all DOS games are this simple. Some require special audio setup, some require installation, but most can be run straight off the "disc". I really would encourage you to look into D-Fend or whatever is available nowadays though if you're not familiar with the system.

Just downloaded it. Firefox complains about a virus for me as well, but looking at it, it's a 7z archive of a bunch of Zip archives, each of which contains a .nes rom file (for some stupid reason; probably somebody that keeps their rom files in zip archives but didn't think to extract them all before packing them into an archive format with better compression, like 7zip. Extracting the roms and simply packing them with 7z gives a savings of 13MB). I don't see anything disconcerting about the archive itself. It might just be the Google security service (which is used by default by both Firefox and Chrome to scan for viruses) flags an archive filled with archives.
Running an actual virus scan on it using clamav, and also scanning all contained zips and all contained rom files, it looks fine.
It looks like this is a false positive to me. I wouldn't overworry about this one.

That applies to most software in general, especially web browsers, for which you can't sandbox the network. If you've got specific examples of the threat model, please provide them. I'm a programmer, and I get a little sick of unsubstantiated FUD over the years. Show me the scary code or get lost.
> Did yah tell'em about DOM storage, or should I?
You mean fancy cookies? You're even using the antiquated name. What does web storage have to do with this? It's just a method for a domain to store strings in an object that can be retrieved by the same domain. It doesn't even access across subdomains. It's not an injection vector any more than an ordinary JavaScript string is. It is a vector for XSS, but nearly everything is a vector for XSS.
Use uMatrix.
I don't see what you're talking about with your bottom few links. What are you saying by pointing out that web storage exists? What does any of that have to do with Firefox?

Why you got to lie web dev? How know how easily domain A can query all storage bypassing uMatrix domain listing. There's no isolation in the SQLite datastore preventing other lookups.

I'm sorry I don't babyfeed webdevs that can't use web crawlers to find evidence of injector sites. There's even privacy benchmark tests online too! My fav. injector tool use UserAgent poking. Since you fags like zippyshare I figured out how to upload a file to it with curl. I really don't know what the fuck is wrong with browsers, but in my experience curl uploads are much faster. I'd recommend against using zippyshare for long term sharing, since files not downloaded for 30 days are deleted.
I dunno if it works with alternatives but it was written for a POSIX shell, curl obviously, and GNU grep/tac
#!/usr/bin/env sh
curl -F file_0=@"$1" -H "Content-Type: multipart/form-data" http://www40.zippyshare.com/upload | tac | tac | grep -m 1 -oE 'https://www40.zippyshare.com/v/.{8}/file.html'
>how do I use it?
Save the code box into a file with execute permissions. feed it a single argument, that argument being the location of the file you want to upload. The url will appear in your terminal once the upload is done. If you redirect the stdout to a file, curl will give you a progress summary.
>multiple files/parallel uploads/etc support
Use for loops, gnu parallel, or expand the script yourself.
>why the double tac?
The grep regexp will match multiple times, if you tell it to only match once, then it'll close the file stream on curl's face and curl will error out. you won't even get the URL. With the double tac, tac first reads the entire file and reverses it, then the second tac unreverses it, and tac is fine with grep closing its stdout on it.
>www40
it seems like zippyshare separates its servers with the number after the www and one is picked at random when you click the upload button, I haven't checked how high it goes, but you can change the number if you want.

I'm aware of that, but it fucks up the lzma compression, which works far better than DEFLATE. Pulling them out of the zips and just compressing them with 7z brings it to 50 MB instead of 63. If the end-user wants to zip them up, let them do it themselves, it's as easy as for rom in *.nes; do zip "${rom/.nes/.zip}" "$rom"; done
. No reason to burn 13 MB just to save people such minimal effort.

You can make a zip bomb with most compression formats: https://github.com/bones-codes/bombs/tree/master/archives/300GB
People probably just haven't started supporting other formats because it takes effort. It would be really easy to support almost any compression format, especially because so many of them present such a similar API. Really, putting ROM files in a zip archive is retarded, when a plain compression format like gz would be completely sufficient. It only took off because with Windows, it was pretty much the only way of doing it. Most Win users have no concept of plain non-archive file compression.
At least with Retroarch, you can put a lot of roms in one zip archive, but Retroarch stupidly extracts the entire archive to run a single rom, and doesn't fucking clean up after itself.

For the compression bomb? Yes with lzma. lzip is an lzma compressor, and xz is a format around lzma2 (which is basically just lzma with optional compression for chunks). 300 GiB of /dev/zero makes a 44MiB lzip file. lzipping it again takes it down to about 6.9K. Granted, zip bombs are a pretty minor concern these days. Every scanner worth its salt has considerations for them, and most people don't extract everything blindly.
I used to do transparent compression with btrfs, but I switched back to ext4 because I was nervous about btrfs stability, and I can do all the RAID and snapshotting I need to do through LVM2 (though the lack of a send and receive analogy makes shipping my snapshots a pain in the ass). I never switched to ZFS because ZFS on Linux didn't offer compression for the longest time (some Oracle patent shit, I think).
These days, I compress my rom in squashfs files that I have mounted on boot. I just use gzip compression with them. It's a good compromise for a non-compressing filesystem. My 21G of roms compress down to 14G.
I've used zstd at work, actually. We used it to achieve some pretty good, fast compression using a shared dictionary. I like zstd a lot. It's supported in squashfs and btrfs, and I'm pretty sure zfs on Linux supports it these days too.

Nope, just that as always, Linux are slow to support. Linux distros always love reinventing wheels instead of fixing problems, and their whole licensing debacle.
>I've used zstd at work, actually.
That's not the point I'm making. If you want to save bandwidth client-server, I see the reason to want to compress individually selected files in a multipart transfer. These days that's beside the point with filesystem delta recursive compression.
E.g. FC Torrent E3E6A025C3F0F96DD190097DA2C1695FF89FA10C selective downloads vs one giant 7zip of all 26,601 known ROM dumps.

The traditional zip bomb is just a bunch of layers of identical zip files, taking advantage of the repetition, and can be done in most formats, not just DEFLATE. I'm not aware of a zip bomb that can beat about 1024-fold compression without multiple layers of compression. Most effective zip bombs depend on something recursively extracting them to work. Doesn't really work against humans, only against automated systems that will recursively extract.
Zip is certainly not deprecated, and there's nothing about zip nor DEFLATE that facilitates zip bombs more than any other format.
I'm not sure of what your point is with zstd, then. Are you suggesting uploading zstd-compressed files individually along with their shared dictionary? It's not a bad thought, you just have to teach people to decompress them.

On the compression discussion, this place has some nice benchmarks on popular formats, which I think are relevant for distributing files in this thread:
https://community.centminmod.com/threads/round-3-compression-comparison-benchmarks-zstd-vs-brotli-vs-pigz-vs-bzip2-vs-xz-etc.17259/
Here are my conclusions and some personal experience:
For distributing compressed pirated stuff, the only formats that you can expect everyone to be able to decompress are the ones both 7-zip and winrar support. You'll have near 100% coverage of people who download your stuff if both of these programs can decompress it.
https://www.7-zip.org/
https://www.rarlab.com/otherfmt.htm
These links have the supported format list for both.
I have some conclusions about the performance of each format that you can use to pick what is best for you. There are other formats, but I'm only considering the ones both 7z and winrar support.
If you expect people to use your compressed file as-is, which happens with things such as loose game roms, then the only format they'll be able to use is zip with DEFLATE, so check if you care about that. Other formats have terrible emulator support.
gzip's algorithm is DEFLATE, the benchmarks are mostly valid for both (there is some overhead on zip since it's a more complicated format than gzip). Otherwise gzip is not a very good choice, but its advantage is that at low settings it's the fastest for both compression and decompression, and it uses ridiculously low amounts of RAM that even early 90s computers have.
bzip2 appears to achieve the best overall balance between compression ratio and decompression/compression speed. It's also uniquely the slowest format to decompress, by using other formats you can sacrifice yourself to allow whoever downloads your file to uncompress it faster. The best format for this is xz at compression level 3, which compresses at roughly half the speed of bzip2 but decompresses roughly 50% faster, with a very similar compression ratio.
xz(LZMA or LZMA2 algorithm) has the best compression ratio. To achieve this compression ratio, use compression levels above 4. The higher the better the ratio, but the slower the compression. xz uses a lot of RAM to compress or decompress, and it's also much slower than other methods to compress. It decompresses faster than bzip2 however. The RAM isn't much of an issue, you'll need 674MB to compress per 2 cores used without custom settings, and 64MB at worst to decompress per 2 cores without custom settings. Please note that bzip2 can't even use more than 1 core, and the benchmarks are single threaded, so you can catch up in speed to bzip2 by using more cores.
Using custom settings, you can surpass the compression ratios showcased on the benchmark, at massively slower compression and with much more RAM usage. Read xz's or 7zip's documentation for settings you can use for LZMA in either format.
A LZMA-algorithm file doesn't appear to have an upper bound on how much RAM it takes to decompress or compress, it depends on the dictionary size and how many cores it was compressed with. It will only ever use at absolute worst a little over 1.5GB of RAM to decompress with the biggest dictionary size per 2 cores the person who compressed the file has used, if the file is at least as big as the dictionary size, so it's actually not much of an issue in that regard. Chances are if you're sharing a game, you'll need even more RAM to run the game than to decompress the file with maxed out LZMA settings.
Maxing out LZMA settings causes prohibitive RAM requirements for compression. It will use a little over 10 times the dictionary size in RAM per 2 cores you have told it to compress with. I've personally distributed a file compressed with an 1GB block size and 2 cores on 8chan which required just a little over that to decompress, no one complained about being unable to decompress it, the game that it was required more RAM anyway.
xz's underlying algorithms are LZMA or LZMA2 (normally LZMA2), which don't perform too different.
You can use LZMA within zip and you can use both LZMA and LZMA2 within 7zip. You can use bzip2 in both zip and 7zip.
TL;DR: When distributing compressible files, use tar.bz2 or 7z/zip with bzip2 compression for speed, or if you want maximum compression, use tar.xz or 7z/zip with lzma compression. Use zip with DEFLATE for maximum compatibility.
You can make files such as these easily and for free with 7zip.

LZMA2 is horribly named. It's actually a container format that allows for interleaved runs of LZMA and uncompressed data. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lempel%E2%80%93Ziv%E2%80%93Markov_chain_algorithm#LZMA2_format
LZMA2 can be preferred for binary data, where compression of parts will actually hurt your file size. xz uses LZMA2, while lzip uses LZMA.

I've read that one a few times before. It's a little overblown in its criticisms, and most of those are arguments against using xz for long-term storage, not for simple compressed interchange. Many packages still use xz for their source trees without issue.
It has some valid points, but it still stands that there is no other compression format (note, not archive, but just compression) that handles mixed compressible and incompressible content well. Lzip does a decent job, but for binaries and mixed tarballs with binary assets, xz does much better.
It's not as simple as "never use xz" until something better actually does everything xz does.
e97727 No.16683829

Lzip.
Surprised that if you read it many times you haven't conclude a missed packet or chunks of data isn't reliable to verify the entire xz file, thus in the case of intermittent connection or corruption, you waste more time re-downloading the same file, since the'ren't any integrity checksums. TCP only has the "advantage" it has to reask you at the least 10 times if you have the packet, but on UDP, like torrents, you're are fucked if anything happens.
Best analogy here is a riverstream of wood cuts for the house (container format) don't have self contained measurements verifying the exact volumes and types the wood has to be. In lzip, I can confidently test all my cuts are the exact types (oak vs pine vs maple), volume & densities they should be.
Torrents work like chipped wood calls that gravitate to their location (almost p2p telepathy), while TCP has to resend you the same cut you already have 7 times or more until the messages are properly sent “I have enough Birk wood 2×2×2, I need oak 6×7×7 now!”

Basically the most recent fiasco was that they wanted to force people to update to their latest spyware-laden versions, and they know that the privacy-conscious were amongst those who refused to. So, they pulled a Microsoft-tier shoah on all of their users by "accidentally" invalidating the certificates for extensions on every previous version of Firefox so that any addons whatsoever would not work, and then told users if they wanted their add-ons back, that they would have to update to the latest version - which is a bait and switch, because not all add-ons worked on Quantum anyways.
It's basically like if a car dealership ran down a block and poured sand into the engines of every old, loved, and reliable 2000s-era Honda they saw, then announced over a loudspeaker, "If your car is broken, we're very sorry to hear that, BUT we have a bunch of excellent brand-new cars on sale, right here up the street! Did you ever stop to think that maybe if this place wasn't so elitist and full of paranoid conspiratards so that everyone else had to jump through all these loopholes just to download a simple file then it wouldn't be so dead and gay and there would be no reason to use 4chan anymore?

try out twist.moe, all the anime is actually 1080p and not upscaled shit, jojo's is high quality there too. only issue is it's pretty slow sometimes and has no other quality options

We've got a live one, boys. A dyed-in-the-wool cuck wandered into the thread.

>he doesn't know the actual FBI posts here
>he disagrees with the concept of chemotherapy
Get back to fucking reddit, kike. I miss a shitload of the boards I used to frequent on cuckchan, but I respect myself enough to not crawl back there for 4gag-tumblr-ifunny memes or anything else.
>having a reason to use 4chan
>I mean, there's no reason to sleep with your wife either right? It's not like you can please her! Tyrone saved your marriage!!! So what you I have to raise a few of his kids? There's no reason not to!
You should be killed with a wood saw. This "It's all good bro! Chill!!" attitude of yours is the same that is undermining the West and therefore free civilization itself. If you refuse to lurk and actually educate yourself, commit, and later reap the rewards, you do not have the discipline or commitment needed to do what needs to be done.
May your chains rest lightly upon you, because when the rope comes for you, whether it be pulled by us "le ebul natzees" or all of Tyrone's children you raised, it will make little difference.

This is the worst way possible to share things. Firstly, the filenames are fucked up, image related. Secondly the uploads will die when this thread gets pruned. Thirdly, he condemned this thread to an earlier death with that repeated posting that pushed it over bump limit.

The most important is to secure the 1.1 patch. The game was sold retail so it's not disappearing any time soon. The patch removes the DRM.

Generally the scene releases give you the crack separately to apply it yourself. Don't overwrite the original files with the crack and it should work fine unless the DRM somehow requires some sort of online validation.
c124d3 No.16693365
>>16693359
The game used to require online activation. The scene releases all had custom files installed with the game, plus a cracked .exe. These releases do not have the bug fixes from the official patch. The official patch also removes the DRM, but does not work with the scene releases.
