I love how the terrain in this looks like it was inspired from Hans Rudolf Giger. Looks like the environment from Scorn.

The music is somewhat unique; horror military classical.

I'd like to get you guys into playing this so I have someone to discuss it with besides Koreans. I've managed to figure out all the units' abilities, I still haven't figured out any cheesing tactics, but there's lots of potential.

Atrox is astonishingly similar to Blizzard Entertainment's smash hit "Starcraft". The gameplay, the graphics, units, buildings, even single animations are extremely close to the famous original.

The game is a real-time strategy game where the player controls one of three races (Hominides, Inteliom, Kreators) and tries to destroy all the others on the map. To accomplish this task, he can build a base with many different buildings such as weapon factories, barracks, power plants and so on. He also has to gather resources to build all his stuff, in this game, he needs to get Quark and some liquid crystal.

The game features three different campaigns (one for each race) as well as skirmish mode, network and online play (the latter using a server).

For some context, C&C engineers are a 500$ unit that has no weapons, is slow and dies to nearly everything that can actually shoot in seconds, if not instantly. Which is rather costly for an infantry unit considering that the most basic counter, regular infantry, only costs 100$, or 80$ for Soviets. Their caveat? You could use three of them at vanilla RA settings to instantly capture any enemy building, albeit leaving it damaged in the red, granted that you somehow transported them there and they went in unnoticed.

OpenRA nerfed them by making them work like C&C3 engineers/Generals infantry, by requiring them to sit outside the building for around 7-8 seconds and pinging an alarm to the enemy commander that a building is being captured, giving the braindead enemy ample time to just put up any sort of defensive structure and shut down any attempt at capturing anything.

Well that's what we get out of 15-50 year olds who use zoomer mentality and education. Should have brought the leather belt and applied it.

Really loved those engineers, far far more effective than Starcraft 1 and Empire Earth where it takes forever to mind control or reach the high-end units with that ability.

In most RTS games there was no chance of stealing the high-end tech only, you had to steal a worker and work your way up the tech tree which took forever.

There are some combinations of units and spells which can prove exceptionally unbalanced.

The unit Blade has a shield which can reduce 50% damage of all ranged attacks and Novadis has a force field which also reduces 50% damage of all ranged attacks for all units that stay in that shield.

C&C 3 engineers were instant capturers just like the originals. Kane's Wrath toned them a little bit down so they have to wait like 2.5 seconds before capturing a building. Generals infantry takes like 15 fucking seconds.

What kind of pussy-ass response is it to nerf engineers instead of adding a checkbox to lobbies that lets shitty players just disable them or something? Let's be honest, a player who is bad enough to get shat on so hard by engineers isn't good enough to clutch-repair a building with an engineer, so the button is just taking UI space up for them.

Actually, why even change game mechanics? When you start applying your own custom balance changes and mechanics, you're just making a fan game at that point. They should at least have the balls to stop pretending that they are an open source red alert, and accept that they're just some random fan game that anyone can contribute to. Why are so many of these open source games nowadays breaking the vanilla gameplay?

In the promotional pictures the leveled up units receive a pinkish aura like some DBZ kaioken bullshit. I also see a lot of units with mismatched stats and unit pictures. A lot of spellcasters with basic attacks which aren't in the final game. Some spells/abilities which aren't in the final game.

In the final version of the game I also noticed 2 enemy hero units in a mission which beyond an in-game cinematic aren't used for gameplay reasons at all, they just sit in the middle of the map and do nothing.

The 1 and only cinematic this game had was pretty cool, wish it had a FPS counterpath.

The story in the game has some potential, but it's barely barely explored. In mission 3 of the Hominians you have to deliver your hero to a goddamn underwater city.

The actual underwater city is nowhere to be found and all you get is a puddle where you larp that your hero went through the entrance to the underwater city… which is nowhere to be found in gameplay and cinematics.

Oh and the 3 endings again have a lot of potential. It's a real ball buster to learn what awaits you at the end.

The Createse look a lot like a mixture of Lovecraft's corny aliens, the Tyranids and Starship Troopers. Lebanon is the only one who looks like Giger's alien.
