>>16476400

This is directed at me, isn't it, you faggot. Well, I'll look at it, but only because you got dubs. This swf doesn't contain any game data at all. It's merely a loader and comes with two binaries inside it. One looks like plain text and has a link to the real game. The loader will try to load an ad, patch itself, and presumably load the game from that address if it all checks out. Of course, the link in the binary when downloaded with wget returned an html page consisting of a javascript redirect that then took me to an advertisement. I honestly figured just by looking at it that the link is generated automatically and meant for you specifically somehow, so I doubt there's anything more I can do unless you post the actual link to the game. Is the game even worth it though? I obviously can't play it, so I have no idea.

>>16476697

Devfag, if you're still with us, please finish this game. I still check the /vivian/ thread occasionally hoping for news, even though the last update as far as I know was in a random post here of an updated vivtest-christmas build.

After taking a second look, I'm retarded. It would actually be another loader anyway. It's defined under symbols as such. Still don't know where the game is. However, under the services part of the Mochi API, there is some hilarious obfuscation going on. A byte array being filled with all sorts of random shit. It is loaded as well, which clearly makes it an swf. You could also tell by jewgling "FWS" and seeing that it's the magic number for swf files. I'm curious what you'll get if you put this swf together. The final loader, or just a wild goose chase? Surely it's too small to actually be the game, but who knows.

I'm still curious what the other swf was, but since it really didn't matter I just let it go. I removed all the checks and shit so that it would just decompress the payload immediately, and added a couple lines to let me save it to the disk. Here's the resulting swf. It ran without any modifications, but I don't know if it'll crash later on or if it runs without any internet connection. It's not my type of game so I've not tested it. :^)

I'm back. I spoke too soon about Space Croissant not working and about Bit Dungeon being always online. When I play Flash games locally I run them in the official projector, and I run the official projector inside a sandbox (firejail) with a profile that disallows networking. But after >>16480338's post I physically disconnected my machine and ran the games without any sandboxing. Both worked fine at a glance.

So it looks like your dump of Space Croissant is exactly what I was looking for, and there's probably no reason to poke around Bit Dungeon. I just need to tinker with my settings and find a profile that lets me play these games without letting the Flash projector have too much freedom. Thanks!

Where do you think all those threads showing steam stats and rankings comes from? Steam itself. If it wasn't gathering info on you then those stats wouldn't exist. There is public info you can get such as this https://store.steampowered.com/stats/ as well as stuff like what your friends are doing, what you're doing being shown to your friends, groups you're a part of shit like that is all recorded by Steam for use by Valve. Some info is exclusively available to developers only though, even with an API you wouldn't be able to get it. There is also some "soft" datamining which is recording some simple metadata about you while you use steam you can only avoid this by using a steam emulator, good luck with that only some games work with it.

The bad news is that some of the files are not Flash but shockwave and the player is EOL. However I seem to have downloaded the raw file (e.g. Dinoquest) by loading the page and doing view page Info, the going to the Media tab. Finally download via the link (works for either format).

"Browser makers" will instantly drop the plugin, killing many games that expected a browser around the plugin (things like looking at the page URL to see if it's kongregate.com to unlock extra levels/features for that site). Many sites will simply close due to lack of users. Newgrounds and Kongregate have HTML5 games to keep business running. Flash will still be used for gamedev for some years, but you will get a standalone download instead of a webpage, with the usual lack of Linux support because the dev is too lazy to export & upload the game with a Linux executable.

stopping support essentially means the same thing it did for windows xp

>no more updates

so any exploit found within flash post adobe dropping it will remain unpatched forever

and since they're greedy slimey fucks they will not release their grasp from the source code even in spite of no longer developing it

many websites can continue to run their games, but browsers will one by one drop the plugin support because it's a security breach waiting to happen

we're already at the point where browsers wont open a flash file you saved locally, I had to go and make a script that generates a webpage to load my saved files since I've had trouble getting the standalone player working on linux

>killing many games that expected a browser around the plugin

As much as I hate how the Flashpoint project is structured due to how hard it is to find shit when it's all separated by domain, they're doing one thing right: grabbing the games now and not wasting time hacking each game. Hacking the games to work locally and offline without that shitty Flashpoint software can be done later as long as the files are archived.

>>16498264

>since they're greedy slimey fucks they will not release their grasp from the source code even in spite of no longer developing it

We could really use a free flash player since all the projects so far just haven't had much interest from developers. But I think they've decided on just killing the Flash brand and plugin while remarketing Flash's technology for cross-platform software/game development, what with AIR, Flex, etc. Guess in the future we'll be stuck with emulating Flash projectors in DOSBox forks if we want to play Flash games.

>I've had trouble getting the standalone player working on linux

Wine runs the Windows projectors no problem, and I find it easier than bothering with native Flash.

Flash save games usually use Shared Objects, which will still work in the standalone Flash Player or if you're playing it in your browser from a local file. (Just make sure that Flash has permission to save data locally - if you're in Windows, it's in the control panel.)

If it's some more elaborate save method that uses javascript, sadly you're out of luck unless you also saved the original page the game was on.

TLDR; just play the flash in the standalone player on your PC, it'll still let you save your game. But you won't be able to continue a save you made in the website version unless you copy the files to the "localhost" folder.

61edc0  No.16541541

>>16541470

thank you!

another question, where are the shared objects located when you are using a standalone player?

71f66f  No.16541590

>>16541541

Assuming you're using windows:

C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects

Inside that folder will be a folder with a nonsense name of random letters and numbers, and inside THAT folder will be folders named after whatever website saved flash data. And a folder named "localhost", which is where Flash stores data for games you play offline.

Fair warning, the entire Shared Objects folder tends to get wiped every time you clear your browser data, so if you have a saved game you care about it's a good idea to back it up anyway.
